Why? These are the current day threats (let alone near future capes). Just because they present a far more difficult problem doesn't justify us not doing it. Pretending SU-30s with C/D/Archer is a realistic baseline is laughable. That's like the Chinese training to an F-16 A-model in relative comparison. Time to solve the hard problem, not run away from it and solve the easy problem, then beat our chests about how great we are.

These guys made a decision, formulated a plan, and executed with high efficiency and precision (aside from the slightly lopsided balls). I’d say the CVR evidence supports the fact that these two officers are highly effective military aviators and the skydick episode should be taught to every UPT student as an example of what to aspire to (might need a trigger warning for the weak kneed though). Hi All, Figured I'd share my TBAS simulator (airplane and horizontal tracking) with all of you because it's been pretty helpful for me. Hopefully you all find it just as useful as I've found the flash cards, etc. The main game window looks like this: Download Link: Here Included is everything you need to simply play it as well as edit it to your liking. Use 7-zip to decompress the zip file. I'm currently using a simple thrustmaster joystick and thrustmaster rudder pedals. These both work as needed and were relatively cheap. Full disclosure, I haven't taken the TBAS yet. This is based on readily available info from big blue so this may or may not be an exact match to the actual test but it should hopefully be close enough. Just spend 6-9 minutes a night for a few nights before your test and it should help you all out. Thanks.

There's a thing in fiction called suspension of disbelief. Basically, tell us the rules of your world, and then follow them. In Game of Thrones, it's made clear early on that dragons and black magic exists. It was only recently made clear that the pirates had heat seeking scorpion bolts.

Killing Japanese didn't bother me very much at that time... I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal.... Every soldier thinks something of the moral aspects of what he is doing. But all war is immoral and if you let that bother you, you're not a good soldier. There are no innocent civilians. It is their government and you are fighting a people, you are not trying to fight an armed force anymore. So it doesn't bother me so much to be killing the so-called innocent bystanders. I'm assuming by depth you mean SME. IMHO, the only "depth" that gets recognized by the promotion board are your WIC/TPS/SAAS/CNODP/Monterey/blah blah blah graduates.

Are we still talking about adversaries? We don’t build multi-billion dollar red air fleets to experiment with potential new technologies and we certainly don’t/wouldn’t/shouldn’t to develop potential new blue capes. We do that with s&t, prototypes and demos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If a receipt is required, I always pen and inked the conversion math onto the receipt (including any foreign transaction fees) before I scanned and uploaded. Then claimed everything in good ole USD.

Clark, have you ever dealt with acquisitions? None of that UCAS shit exists, and the F-35s they want to use we’ve already bought. A Stingray tech demo is a far cry from an 8-ship of F-35s. You’ll be retired by the time someone figures out how to get an 8-ship of supersonic stealth drones to take off and land from Nellis.

My first mistake was choosing the builder. I wanted some custom features for the home, like quarter-log siding for the exterior and interior walls, timber ceilings, etc. They wouldn't do any of that. So my choice was to go with a true custom builder who builds one house at a time, or compromise. I compromised because true custom builders are ridiculously expensive and I'd never be able to sell the home. So the builder I chose would not do anything "unique" and they used the cheapest materials and labor they could find. I've never seen such shoddy construction. I'll have to redo a lot of what they did to get the house like I want it. They let me pick our their best materials for flooring, paint, etc. And they let me buy my own sinks and finally agreed to build a tiled walk-in master bath instead of installing a cheap drop-in. All of their materials were garbage, even their "top end" stuff. My closing was a nightmare. The GC "guaranteed" me a date that the house would be complete, so I scheduled a move-out date with the apartment and scheduled movers. The actual closing was almost 5 weeks later. I was about 2 days away from having to move into a hotel and move my furniture into storage. I basically had to threaten the building company with a lawsuit. That was a stressful 5 weeks that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I've lived in the house for about a month, and I have water coming in through the first floor, a hot water heater that constantly trips (probably bad thermostat), and a bathroom that leaks through the floor all the way through to the first level. I've heard that once you close, the builder drags their feet for warranty items. That's definitely true in my case. Oh and they left about a dumpster load of garbage - mostly leftover materials and some actual garbage, on my property. And they left about another dumpster load of stumps that they promised they'd haul away since early on in the build. I owed $18K at closing, they were nice enough to let me know that about a week before closing. To this day I do not understand how they came up with that amount. I work with a guy who claims he owed almost $40K, so maybe that's not that unusual. It sure shocked me though. I'm sure I can think of other bad things. Having said all of that above, I don't really know what advice to give anyone. All of the major builders have plenty of bad reviews, so you can't really go by that. If you can afford it, a true custom build is the way to go, but just realize that most folks living out in a rural area on land can't afford an expensive house so you might have issues of you try to sell. I'm slowly getting over the whole frustrating experience. There's nothing like living out in the woods and having total control over your land and house. I was never able to do that in the military. ...I forgot to mention the part about utilities - you'll want to plan that out very carefully. My house sits 560 off the road. I did a lot of work myself, but here's about what stuff would've or did cost me: Driveway (concrete) $26K; electricity: $14K; water: $5K; internet: $3.7K. All of my utilities are trenched because they want you to clear so many trees out to go above ground. I don't know which is more expensive, but I'm glad I kept the trees.

Yeah, without the CVR that should have been easy to explain away. "Well, sir, down here we were in a standard figure-8 holding pattern to maximize our sensors downrage. Then we pushed into the target, got lit up, and performed an immediate egress to reset in the marshal." But with the CVR...

What you're saying would absolutely make sense if I were in a squadron, with other FGOs under me or in my shop. I'm not... I'm competing against guys like the chief of flight safety, JAG, DS if he wants to submit... Plus, I think this is a reason why rated officers don't get promoted at the same rate as non-rated officers... We actively discourage one another from getting recognition for good work. Execs solicit award nominations, and 90% of the flyers actively avoid writing a 1206 unless ordered to.

I was in one of the last UPT classes with the white helmets 86-87.. Part of UPT tradition was we designed a class patch, and also a class Helmet design. Nobody flew with a plain white helmet.

I totally forgot to post this following my interview back in Feb and for that I'm sorry for lack of detail, considering how well this thread helped me. I was the only civilian at mine so not sure how my interview compared to the Officer/Enlisted guys in the unit / Enlisted from another base. Got word that i knocked it out of the park and I believe its because i compiled all the questions from the threads and spent the time answering them. Casual interview environment with some joking, but I can't overemphasize how cool it was and the advice I got. Girl from another base said she was given a plane down scenario (at her home unit's interview) and basically had to answer in a timely manner how they'd deal with potential hostiles approaching a downed plane. Sounded rough compared to my experience at this other unit. Remember to have good thoughtful questions to ask them too by the way. Evaluate how they treat you and if the unit interviewing you (chances are you'll work with them all) has the leadership/atmosphere you'd want to spend your life working at. 1. Tell us about yourself. 2. What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do? 3. In what ways are you a leader? What type of leader are you? 4. How would your friends describe you? 5. Who were some role models in your life and why? 6. What do you know about the whole process? 7. Have you considered the time commitments / where will you work and what you will do besides the Reserve (seasoning will make it hard to have a job for a while after you're back at the base from training)?
