  1. Personal opinion: they should have made a big movie about his flight and given him the millions of $$$. Not Sully.

  2. We lost a legend in the aviation community on Sunday. I believe Captain Al Haynes was the last surviving member of the flight crew that was aboard United 232 on 19 July 1989. Check Airman Denny Fitch passed away in May 2012. Godspeed, Captain Haynes. https://siouxcityjournal.com/multimedia/photos-look-backs-at-flight-through-the-years/collection_b0edddae-5428-5eff-b3a9-e747a548ecc3.html#17 https://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/three-decades-after-flight-spencer-bailey----the/article_3208f16f-f01e-5ab6-9969-5a872a10c4c8.html https://whotv.com/2019/08/26/hero-captain-of-united-airlines-flight-232-dies/

  3. If I were an ops SQ/CC, I'd tell the FSS/CC to pound sand.

  4. It’s the blind leading the blind around here. Reserve T-38s are for instructors in the 340th, spread around all the UPT bases and Randolph. You (most generally) already are established in a major weapons system before you become an instructor in this unit. I’ve heard of a very few (maybe 1) person getting hired with no experience to join the 340th. Once in UPT you will be taught by these reserve Instructors when they are available but usually taught by active duty folks, there are way more of them. The exception to all of this is the reserve T-38 red air bubbas, but they are not in the 340th. Clear as mud? edit: the 340th also has T6 and T1 instructors.

  5. I would except I'm on a staff right now and they have zero interest in going to unit tested. Also, I found out some bases demean the policy of squadron testing by still requiring squadrons to submit FAC augmentees from their PTL pool; even if they test internally. This makes some /CC's hesitant to go internal because now it doubles the burden on their airman. (They have to test everyone in their squadron and still take 1/month a year to test everyone in everyone else's squadrons) Not saying that is specific to my case but I was interested to learn that.

  6. lol, thanks man! You're welcome and thanks for the repeat business. No catches ever. We do our best by everyone and we get the "it seems to good to be true" all the time. We treat everyone like we'd want to be treated which is the Trident difference in business today. We want a life time relationship with every client. Everyone will PCS multiple times, go to the airlines, or change houses at some point and will need a lender again. We want to be your first call every time. Cheers! Jon

  10. Reached out to the 340FTG and was told that there isn't any information on class dates since they are waiting on upper brass to give them the go ahead. So in the mean time... hurry up and wait.

  11. Received the email from their POC a few weeks back and even rushed them early August. No hard dates but they mentioned to me (in person) it will be sometime in Spring of 2020. Hope that helps.

  12. I believe FTG stands for flying training group, which performs admin functions for all flyers.

  13. I sent my package in a few weeks ago and I got a response email saying, "thank you for your application." There was no mention of a new board date, but I wasn't in touch with the unit when they sent out the email about postponing the boards.

  14. Gotta convince your squadron commander to take back PT tests. I can take one with a same-day text and my PTL will bring all the paperwork to the gym for me.

  15. Huggy, are you saying that the DoD could do a markedly better job at managing its almost trillion dollar annual budget? Does anyone have the shocked Pikachu meme handy? Maybe I'm biased due to my own cynicism. I agree with you and Clark in theory. In practice, even if there were one or two Flags that wanted to make that happen, it's not enough to turn the ship around. It's like Chuck Spinney said, "You can't simultaneously have high tech tinker toys AND have a high operational tempo." To bring this full circle: What's wrong with us? We're bankrupt of leadership. The people making the decisions on our behalf need to account for the fact that historically, even with a lower budget than we've got today, we were able to keep dudes flying 5 days a week.

  16. Just took a "Desert Eagle .50" to the range. 'Merica. Pretty heavy and concealed carry may be difficult, but that thing is a beast.

  18. Just picked up my first AK, it’s a PSA AKV, 10.5” 9mm. Got it out to the range yesterday and it’s a blast to shoot, put 350 rounds through it and had zero issues with what I’d call gen 1.5. I put a Bushnell red dot on it that nicely co-witness with the iron sights.
