It violated law. Don’t like it, change the law. My personal point though was more holistic - people these days immediately blow a gasket when they read something on the internet or the news anchor tells them, with no regard for the accuracy level of the info they just received. 100% of the time a person reads something on the internet or hears it on the news, the first reaction should be, “interesting, I’ll do some research on that before I form an opinion or spread a WOM like the clap at BQZip’s mom’s house.” Instead probably over half of the pop, including smart, successful people, go full rabble rabble and spread bullshit as their first reaction. It’s not just asshat millennials in Portland that are the problem...10 points

Former viper bro now working in the embassy world already crushed this WOM - according to him, only applies to children of parents who were not naturalized US citizens at the time of child’s birth. So basically this affects very few people. Another bait article completely misleading people, likely in order to incite dislike for the current administration. Standard bullshit that even smart people choose to form an immediate opinion on without doing any actual research/fact checking.4 points

You must of been talking to the wrong people in the Army. In my old guard unit on the Apache side, there were multiple bros with DUIs that received a second chance. Stay motivated and keep casting a wide net. The bogidope guys are great. They will help you tailor your app to make your positive attributes shine. Don't be so quick to introduce the bad from your past in your application. Also don't hate yourself for the past. Its a complete waste of time to live in past constantly thinking about what you did wrong. Think about how you can make things better. Keep chasing the DEMON... because for ole guys with a stack against them... thats all it is. A demon that needs to be conquered. Stay motivated bro. Feel free to PM your app. Would love to check it out and share some Army contacts if your interested. Although I would say you should continue to chase the blue side with the Army as a plan LAST. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-citizenship-children-of-troops-government-employees-not-automatic-new-policy/ According to the fact sheet, the new policy won't affect the following children: Those whose parents are both U.S. citizens, with at least one parent who had a residence in the U.S. or its territories before the child was born; Those who have two married parents, one of whom is a U.S. citizen who "was physically present in the U.S." or its territories for at least five years, with two of those years occurring after the parent was 14 years of age; Those who have unmarried parents, one of whom is a U.S. citizen meeting requirements listed in U.S. statute INA 309; Those who are eligible to have their U.S. citizenship certified at birth; And those residing in the U.S. with their U.S. citizen parent after being admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence.2 points

I'm at it again since finding out the age limit got raised. Got busy with work, school, and some flight training I've been doing (taking IR checkride soon). Been sending out applications to guard squadrons and am getting in touch with active duty and reserve recruiters. I'm also expanding to the Army's WOFT program (which I have tried in the past but was rejected with them as well). All the guard squadrons in the last 3 months have given me the "no thanks", however I am seeing a sliver of hope. When asking for feedback I was told by 1 squadron that my history is not totally disqualifying and suggested I include a short essay in future applications describing the circumstances of my life at the time and what I've learned from it. Another squadron suggested doing the same thing. It's crazy how I just can't let this go. I am so determined to do this and yet hate myself so much for my screw ups in life. Just updating in case any gives a sh*t and of course I'm still open to input and advice on how to go about applying. Anyone interested in reviewing my app?? Has anyone done the professional review by bogidope? I can keep you all posted if anyone is interested to know how it turns out.1 point

Here’s the full text of the memo, for those who want to do their own research: USCIS Policy Alert1 point
-
The old policy conflicted with statutes issued since it was first published in 2004: “However, as of October 29, 2019, USCIS is no longer committed to this reasoning because the prior USCIS policy guidance is in conflict with several provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), especially with changes to the acquisition of citizenship statutes that occurred in 2008, after the initial policy determination in 2004. First, permitting a child to be eligible simultaneously for a Certificate of Citizenship under INA 320 and for naturalization under INA 322 conflicts with the language of INA 322(a), which states that a parent “may apply for naturalization on behalf of a child born outside of the United States who has not acquired citizenship automatically under INA 320.” Second, considering children who are living outside of the United States to be “residing in the United States” conflicts with the definition of “residence” at INA 101(a)(33), which defines “residence” as a person’s “principal, actual dwelling place in fact.” Third, considering these children to be “residing in the United States” is at odds with INA 322(d), which was enacted in 2008,16 4 years after USCIS issued policy guidance on the topic. When Congress enacted INA 322(d), it provided for special procedures in cases involving the naturalization of “a child of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States who is authorized to accompany such member and reside abroad with the member pursuant to the member's official orders, and is so accompanying and residing with the member.” Congress placed this provision under INA 322, which applies only to children “residing outside of the United States.” It did not provide similar language for such children to acquire citizenship under INA 320.”1 point

I knew Whiting (at least interacted with him several dozen times) at one assignment in the last few years. The guy is a douche. I'm pretty sure I took some kind of oath or something to do with the Constitution. Maybe he didn't take the same one?1 point

We lost a legend in the aviation community on Sunday. I believe Captain Al Haynes was the last surviving member of the flight crew that was aboard United 232 on 19 July 1989. Check Airman Denny Fitch passed away in May 2012. Godspeed, Captain Haynes. https://siouxcityjournal.com/multimedia/photos-look-backs-at-flight-through-the-years/collection_b0edddae-5428-5eff-b3a9-e747a548ecc3.html#17 https://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/three-decades-after-flight-spencer-bailey----the/article_3208f16f-f01e-5ab6-9969-5a872a10c4c8.html https://whotv.com/2019/08/26/hero-captain-of-united-airlines-flight-232-dies/1 point

I've posted this before and I'll post it here again. It's satire, but it's true: https://www.duffelblog.com/2015/04/jcs-dont-care-youre-resigning/ The system is what the system is. Fighting it is like getting mad at the ocean for having waves. FWIW, I worked one, two leg overnight sitting reserve at my house so far this month. And I make about what a Lt Col makes in my second year at a legacy with the (currently) worst contract.1 point

Hey white knight, I was merely asking. Finally brought my Cub home yesterday. Winds kicked up way earlier than expected...was just glad to her on the ground in one piece. There was zero wind today so I spent the afternoon on the grass. My dedicated crew chief has a T-Craft based at this grass strip...don't think he appreciated me texting this picture when he was working today LOL.1 point

The ground force commander doesn't understand anything aviation that the BAE cell doesn't feed him through AGI power point and the occasional steaming shit laid in a briefing by what is typically a CW5 with nothing to lose and enough experience nobody questions it. Seriously I'm saying that as an Army Aviator. Nobody is going to care what is dropping bombs. We care that bombs are being dropped. Just like it was never a question of whether they had 58s or 64s assigned as their time blocked teams despite the shortcomings in sensors, ordnance, and station time with the 58. Nobody is gonna stop the show because the CAS came back as F-16 assigned even though your Assistant S3 specifically put in 30mm forward firing on the CAS request to game the system and get Hawgs. The mission will go on. We did CAS (real no shit non OEF CAS) Before the Hawg, during the Hawg with other airplanes, and will someday do it after the Hawg has been put out to pasture. Honestly you guys should be jumping at getting into a new airplane like the F-35 before all the "other guys." Build that culture from the ground up day 1 with your experience so that CAS doesn't become problem number 53 to solve later ... Someday... On short notice because we put it off so long learning X, Y, & Z.1 point

I would not put it past prominent Dems to ask foreign governments to not recognize the winner of a race as the President if they didn't like the results and thought they could get away with it. They could state they recognize Candidate X for President and if the State Governments of the largest, most prominent states refused to accept the results, the world just might follow them. As it would be the equivalent of an H-bomb on our economy, this might cause all the other institutions in our country to say screw the real results and give in. They currently flout federal law, interfere and attempt to hamper federal law enforcement when it suits them and ignore the growing censorship, exclusion and harassment of "woke capitol" on private citizens in the economy and public sphere when it suits them. They suffer no repercussions and only have more incentive to try more. The Republic as we know it is dying.0 points

Reading comprehension. Get it. He didn't say pay for, he said responsible for. A libertarian would rather help someone get on their feet rather than paying for them... but by putting in that effort they are still acting as a responsible party for that person. That's what society is all about. Now go up to the chalkboard and write the phrase "I will work on my reading comprehension" 100 times.-1 points

Thanks for the link, may I quote one particualr line from it? "A compassionate society will find other ways to help people who need temporary assistance" That sounds eerily similar to my line: "A libertarian would rather help someone get on their feet rather than paying for them... but by putting in that effort they are still acting as a responsible party for that person. That's what society is all about." So, in other words, thanks for backing me up and showing what I was saying was in line with the official libertarian party stance. In a society we are all, in one way or another, responsible for everyone else.-1 points
