  1. Since Popular Mechanics calls it "a badass plane", I'll post this here: https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a28872861/u-2-plane-history/?fbclid=IwAR18hdRo5XmuSABUHzvAEeU9JsS3iM-VbuiXqBHn4vBGNSkFqh7sPlGhWAQ As for Chuck Maultsby, I've heard the story told a bit differently, but no less epic. However, Chuck later was picked up for the Thunderbirds in 1958 as #3. He previously spent 22 months as a POW in Korea. Quite a career, to say the least.

  2. Gotta hand it to British Tabloids, they often have an excellent sense of humor.

  3. Anyone in charge here? This article does not mention promotion, but these concepts should be considered as we're about to overhaul the system. Take note. "To find a solution without letting unvalidated assumptions dictate design, we eliminate solution-oriented language (e.g., "I need a car") and substitute problem-oriented language (e.g., "I need to be at work every day" or, even more simplified, "I need to accomplish work"). This is how we discover the value-basis for what we’re designing." https://thestrategybridge.org/the-bridge/2019/7/8/keeping-off-the-grass

  4. While it may take more mental effort (though even that claim is questionable), there's no way it's more beneficial. I'd bet right now that if I gave one guy ### hours of sim time and one guy the same number of hours chair flying, you'd be safe betting on the Sim. Chair flying is still good, but if you happen to own a simulator, do that.

  5. Nope, I don't think they posted it. Might need to contact the POC and find out.

  7. Waving the BS flag on this one, no F-105, F-4, or P-38 and a 747 and DC-3 ahead of the F-15 and Buff. Obviously some cool old birds on the list, but Brabus nailed it, Pop Sci has no clue what bad ass means.
