In other news... KC-135's continue to get $hit done 'round the world...60+ years strong.3 points

That is a wild guess, and wildly inaccurate. As I've said, I've been visiting Prestwick Aviation for 17 years and those folks are on the up and up. Contract fuel prices are set. Lodging and perdiem rates are set. The Turnberry was only offered when it was the only accommodation available. Do you know of an alternative airport that meets all the requirements of transiting military aircraft, crew, and pax with fuel prices 50 cents less? I challenge you to find it. There's quite a bit more to RON planning than the price of fuel. If you've ever been deployed and are looking to save $25K of taxpayer money in Scotland, you're looking in the wrong place. If an FBO/hotel provides a great experience while conducting business within the government rules and government rates, how is that a hustle? That's just good business. This is no Fat Leonard, just another instance of politicians throwing shit against the White House walls hoping something sticks.2 points

We aren’t seeing that kind of overtake at KDLF at all.. still pretty consistent seeing ratios like three or four 38’s to like ten or more toners1 point

I think through all my time in SE Asia I’ve spent about 16 months in the PI, to include quite a bit of time Angelas City and Olongopao. Considering how crazy it is now, it’s hard to fathom what it must’ve been like back then.1 point

Very fluid. Last drop was less than two weeks ago. 9 T-38s and 4 T-1s in this one (might be off by 1). The class two weeks ago was almost the exact opposite. Classes these days are a combo of several classes now and you essentially graduate with whatever class is next up if you finish first.1 point

If you really want to fight them you’ll have to change bank accounts. They can still reach into your direct deposit account long after you’re gone.1 point

They have a government contract fuel rate, and when I went through there a year ago there was no mention of Turnberry. This is simply people in the media who have to idea how the system works trying to make a hit piece on Trump.1 point

Has anyone ever showed up to fly and thought everything was good and after filling out the form realized things weren’t good? I ask because some people think that sheet is crazy important and others (like me) just rely on decision making and actually asking the crew how they feel. And the OG will get on your case if you canceled in that situation? Wtf?1 point

We have a block for ETICs longer than an hour. I've never explicitly asked Top 3 to update my ORM, but it's a factor that you don't become aware of until after step.1 point

The K might be a stretch. I'd call it a T-46 until everything gets sorted out. And people will probably be promoted, not fired.1 point

Uh. No. But it doesn’t have the free managers special at the embassy or free Hilton breakfast, so pocket extra money there, buy breakfast at trump with your own money. We both know the rules. Thanks for playing tho1 point

What kind of back-end safety analysis are you planning on? Have you got a real statistician to validate the method and results? (Serious question, not a spear) Will there be a column for “how much did you lie in order for this thing to look normal?” Back end analysis is something aircrew is great at, but for most of us involves fistfuls of singles.1 point

Thirded. In a world where the computers work reliably and serious back end analysis will be followed through with, I like this idea. But unfortunately that is not the world we live in.1 point

Trigger Warning: Unpopular old-guy opinion ahead. 😁 Our ORM sheet is the last remaining untechnologified step in the administrivia process before we head out the door to the aircraft. 5 people can pick up a pencil and scribble a completely subjective number in about 30 seconds without requiring 5 individual logins with certificate-less CACs, computers attempting to connect, and a slow, if not stopped, network. Please don't take that from us.1 point

https://youtu.be/6p-lDYPR2P8 I found a YouTube link that describes exactly your problem set. Pretty easy step by step instructions1 point

This is the same “outrage” that erupted over the Aircrew MAGA morale patches. It’s civilian reporters who don’t understand how the military operates. I do feel for the GS-13 who’s planning those TACC missions, they’re about to get a lot of unnecessary scrutiny.1 point

Almost every hotel will release rooms at the government rate late in the game when its apparent the rooms won’t sell at the normal rate. $160 is greater than $0 and basically pays for a maid’s entire shift...1 point
-
We know you've been flying your balls off, you're tired and your morale is in the dumps...but if you guys could start staying in shittier hotels, that would be greeeaaaaatttttt. We know the allowable rate is $150/night but the Commander has his own unofficial official max rate of staying at the HOJOs... If it's within the DOD directed rate then what's the fucking problem here? Fuck this passive-aggressive, touchy-feely, TDS "perception" shit. It's either within the reg or not, if they don't like it, change the damn reg/Dodi/etc... Good stewards of the taxpayer dollars...for fucks sake. Every time I've attempted to be a good steward and save the taxpayer money, I got bent over by finance. They don't give a damn about being a good stewards.1 point

Nobody who's sane is suggesting the WH is pressuring individual aircrews to make specific technical stops that might somehow benefit the POTUS. The frustration is that our commander in chief hasn't divested himself from his business interests while serving us. It leaves him open to accusations of all type. Nobody expects President Trump to impoverish himself and give away his assets just for the privilege of leadership. But he should not own or control them in any way while in office. This would be analogous to your new wing commander (Colonel House) owning a real estate sales company that had a large, two page spread in the base newspaper. He also owns a country club. Your OPS group commander buys the largest property they've got for sale and a membership in the club. Later, you see his name on the O-6 list. Totally legit, right? People just want to hate on Col. House because they really liked the other candidate for Wing CC that got passed over. People had better just quit their bellyaching about Colonel House. It's all loser sour grapes. Colonel House is the best wing commander we've ever had. So what if he broke a few rules selling subordinates houses? Who gives a crap about propriety and rule of law when we're finally winning? Also, Colonel house has amended the TAFs on your weather sequence with his black sharpie, you're good to go - no alternate! Best get stepping to the jet and stop being a pussy about weather minimums, he knows what's best for us all.1 point

You call that overshooting final? Hold my beer. I’m pretty sure I’ve lined up with Tucson off the perch at DMA. Shit happens. Debrief and move on. I’m sure some senior politician, I mean leadership, who can’t even remember where the battery switch is on his bare min flights to keep flight pay, will try and crucify these guys.1 point

I work with a guy who’s father was killed because he was an interpreter for the Army in Afghanistan (from Kabul). He got an expedited temporary visa because the Taliban found out he was working for the Army and started calling his house and found his work number and threatening to kill him, his wife, and kid. Obviously if it’s not for nefarious reasons, I don’t blame those that defected knowing they could lose their lives for just interacting or being trained by Americans. He’s taking his citizenship test laster this year, just had another kid, and bought his first house. If there is someone that loves being in America, it’s him. Sometimes we just don’t realize how good we have it to be naturally born Americans. It takes hearing stories like that to make us realize that despite the internal turmoil that this country has, it’s still the greatest one on the planet.1 point
