She was definitely used by the left on this one, but the lack of empathy for a 16 year old girl on here is disgusting. Anyone going after her should be ashamed of themselves. Go after the adults all day! And an FYI, my autistic son is about on the same level (highly functional-she freaking sailed to the conference by herself) as her, and he is definitely capable of destroying adults with logic and sound reasoning in any discussion. His ability to hyper focus on stuff and learn/educate himself would make most adults feel stupid talking geopolitics with him. Was she used? Probably. Does she deserve any of the vitriol thrown at her by grown, fully developed-brain adults? No way! Sometimes I’m amazed at the awe-inspiring, selfless people I work with in the AF. Then a bunch of you go after an autistic 16 year old, and I’m reminded a bunch of you probably still think our president is the genius he claims to be... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk5 points

Whats intriguing to me is how we had a relatively robust light attack fleet during the cold war, at a time when a conventional war with Russia was the thing we were preparing for, then after the wall fell we got rid of all of our OV-10s, A-4s, A-7s, and half our A-10s and switched our CAS platforms almost exclusively to pointy noses when no near-peer enemies existed. Then OEF & OIF rolls around and we have a situation where Vipers and Hornets are putting GBUs onto guys with AKs and trucks that cost less than a fin on said bombs. Seems like we went the opposite direction we should've.3 points

The comments may be at either extreme but the survey results were in the shitter. When 25% or the squadron is giving a 1 on many areas there's a problem.2 points

Lol, they're just Rick Rolling us all at this point. Honestly I stopped caring what anyone in Big Blue leadership says about light attack, and I worked on the the project personally in my civilian job and was a big proponent in general. While a light attack capability as an MWS flown by USAF crews could still do a lot of good around the world, it's a good idea that's peak time was probably about 15 years ago and we're pretty clearly now moving in a different direction as an Air Force. My BL: RIP Light Attack, we hardly knew ye...2 points

It is very possible to be a convicted moron though. Having conviction and interest don't necessarily mean you know shit about the topic. I'm all for attacking ideas but think it is inappropriate to attack/denigrate the messenger regardless of age or mental acuity. Though in this case, her parents threw her to the wolves. As to the message ... Of course our climate is changing, as it has since the planet was formed. But the fear mongering and claims that humans are the main cause of it, is ludicrous and has no actual scientific (observable, quantifiable, and repeatable) evidence for support. The people who benefit from declaring that man is primarily responsible for climate change include everyone funded to study it, the Al Gore types who sell carbon offsets, the sellers of "sustainable energy" that takes more energy to produce than it offsets (e.g. windmills), etc. I'm all for us being more socially responsible and better stewards of our planet but I don't advocate using fear to manipulate and exploit. Lets continue to study and develop more efficient technologies that will reduce pollution. And, lets start with cleaning our oceans, which to me are the true tangible evidence of mans disregard for our planet. The Pacific's garbage patch is bigger than Texas!1 point

I guess I’m of two minds regarding the posting of a DEOCS survey. Yeah, I understand that I asked for it. Just thinking out loud here. The guy should have been fired, clearly, based on the comments by the squadron. But command is a game where the best you can hope for is to break even and finish command before you get fired. I’ve benefited from good commanders, sure, but the older I get the more I wonder why anyone would want to be a commander. Maybe the (former) commanders here can chime in with all the wonderful aspects of command.1 point

WOW! Good to see all of the comments. I’ve seen DEOCS where only a small sample size actually left comments and they weren’t as verbose as these. I cannot imagine the climate that created this. Good on the people for taking the DEOCS seriously. And this, hopefully, proves to the masses that DEOCS are read and they do have an impact. It’s a bunch of bullshit, they put her up because you’re not “supposed” to criticize her due to her age/gender/disability, oldest trick in the book. It’s slimy, even worse when you look her parents up, she is being played like a puppet. Play adult games get adult results.1 point

Your best bet will be the individual units. They all have POC for hiring, and they forward the inquiries to the respective flight commanders. the eventual formal application occurs at the 340th level, submitting an application with the unit or units, of interest, and they internally forward your application to the unit. It pays to just speak with the unit directly beforehand since they'll have the immediate pulse on hiring needs at the time. As to the 97th, nothing different about them. Not sure what portion of my previous comments gave you the impression they're different. Certainly they've had prior hiring policies in the past I consider a bit insufferable, to pick the most mild euphemism, but those dynamics are anachronisms today frankly. The game has changed and the old guard has by and large retired. As to paid travel, I've typed that on here ad nauseam. Look at my previous remarks touching on that topic. Good luck!1 point

Not a movie, but an HBO series. Watched a couple of episodes of Chernobyl on my flight back from Germany. Wished I had started watching it earlier (Delta movies suck!). Gonna pay for it via Amazon, as it's well worth it!1 point

I literally was unaware that the regular season started last Sunday. So after watching the F1 race, seeing the schedule on the Direct TV guide, reminded me, "Where's Kaepernick?" Not gettin' any younger, are you Colin?1 point

Some of the favorite questions we like to ask: I see your from XXXX State, why do you want to live in the North East? Do you have any idea how much it costs to live here? If so, what's your plan to pay for it? (Hint: "Guard Bum" is not the best answer you can to this question) Does your wife/husband know that it gets cold and snows here during the winter? (Note: Are you seeing a trend here with the first few questions?) Why us and the C-130, and not the A-10/C-5/F-15/KC-135 Wing down the street? What do you think UPT is going to be like? Have you done any research? So we see here on your college transcript that you got an D- in XXXX 101, what happened? And for god sake, proof read your shite. We had a guy who handed in a resume with an objective line that read: "Objective: To secure a flying position with the Road Island Air National Guard" Now I am not an English professor, and I can hardly spell my own name, which is why I take the time to have a second set of eyeballs scan everything for gross spelling buffoonery. Lack of empathy, then in the same breathe you tell someone else to go choke themselves. OK. It is literally sad that the left is using the mentally ill like they are.0 points
