  1. You’re being compared to your peers instead of someone in a completely different AFSC who may have had more leadership opportunities. I’m guessing you are Intel? Most Intel majors I know are crushing it as SIO. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look as good on paper compared to the MSG Major that’s already a Squadron Commander. Nor does being the overall mission commander for a Red Flag Ex as say a Pilot to an MSG on the promotion board. Now, you are compared to your fellow SIOs/pilots to pilots etc...the SFS Major Sq/cc is compared to the LRS Major Sq/cc.

  2. In this example, the <<, PREV, or 1 button do nothing: However, in a longer thread, they all work fine: Maybe the link info is busted?

  3. My comment was mostly in jest. I will never speak bad about living in base no matter where it is...hell I live in NJ so I am in base in NY but it's not the most financially sound decision 😂 I do get to live in base though for airline and reserve gig so that's a double plus. February I won't spend a single night in a hotel! It's kind of a ball buster month but the family loves it. What other job can you live anywhere in the world and be provided free transportation (well almost free) to work?!

  4. Put the dates you can bank on. ADSC for now, PC date when you get it. You don’t wanna carpet dance about why you’re not available on your stated date.

  5. Yepp, as long as you don’t have too many Q-3s and you made Instructor you can min run your flying and be much better prepared for promotion than the mission hackers. I’m hoping AFSC specific boards helps mitigate the good dudes being glossed over by nonners on the board.

  7. Probably not particularly helpful, but I remember vividly the briefing for my one and only ejection-seat equipped jet (the mighty AT-38B) from 20 years ago given by my utterly disinterested charioteer: "Don't touch nothin'. If, after this briefing, you hear the word "eject," pull those two handles up and squeeze the triggers. If, after the third "eject" you have not done so, you may start logging solo time. Questions?" Concise and obviously memorable.

  9. The military doesn’t want to fix it. You retain experience by matching the benefits they receive working outside the military and making their personal life easy to manage. Someone working a big contract doesn’t need to PCS, they should be paid a comparable salary, don’t send them on random useless TDYs, or live in the middle of nowhere, etc. I know people who get out of the military and then do literally the exact same job for a contractor except they make 2-3 times more, live somewhere great, deployments are half the length, and theres better overall benefits. It is literally impossible to keep anyone that can get hired by then to stay. You can only guilt someone with “service before self” for so long before self and family matters.
