  2. I did my part by putting 5 gallons of 100LL in to the atmosphere.

  3. I know one thing: you missed out on the golden opportunity to go for the username “Perspiring Pilot” over “Aspiring Pilot.”

  4. I bet people would love to have a slower pace of life if they didn't have to worry about where the rent money or mortgage payment was going to come from.

  5. Or, hear me out now, these protests are being organized and participated in by people who have lost their income by excessive response to the threat, while those with a recession proof stream of income write op-Ed’s about “dark money” (which makes me think Soros actually...).

  6. So true, and so many other bills that we’ve all bought into literally. Although, many are substantiated some are not. Everyone creates they’re own destiny per say and this may be a moment of clarity. It’s a good thought and everyone’s situation is different. That sounds like a former airline gig with a bit of seniority. Things will return, changed in some fashion perhaps, but return. Overall, enjoy the slower pace while you can as others have mentioned before. Get to know your families again, do some yard work if you have one, read a book or two (or on a reader, your choice), do something in your favor, chill and re-emerge with vigor once again. Overall, as a side note this is a good reset opportunity to see what’s important in your life and if you deem you have enough time, venture out and do those “bucket list” items you have always put on the back burner for some reason or another. My motto: “ONE LIFE!” Just think about it. There is only so much you can supposedly control so why not focus on those that make the difference.

  7. I always thought the two girls were twins. That was the irony of the picture. These are clearly not the same people that are in the original photo.

  8. I know its a bit off from any 4 seater, but if your looking for something cheap to just putz around in until you can get back to Herk school, C120/140s are extremely cheap to buy/operate. Theres one for sale I saw yesterday that was 22k, metalized wings, 400SMOH and around 3k on the air-frame maybe? Maybe less. No fancy avionics. But I believe it had radios and was ADSB compliant. 85hp engine so it sips fuel. Cant get much cheaper.

  9. I was sitting outside on the balcony outside our AirBnB last night watching the world go by (which mostly consisted of some lady yelling at people outside a liquor store a few blocks away) and I couldn't help but reflect: how ironic is it that so many people have asked for things to slow down, more time with their families, less queep, and extraneous nonvalue-added requirements to slide off the plate, and when most of that is delivered (albeit in the midst of a fairly shitty situation and under less-than-ideal circumstances), all we want to do is bitch about it and go back to the way things were? Is this what transitioning to the airlines is going to be like? //S

  10. Take a look at RV-4s if you want something lower priced and economical to operate. Unless you are a big dude. You could still fly dogs in the back room is decent if you pull the seat out.

  12. Not that I’ve ever seen or heard of, but I’m not a legal expert. Loans aren’t held by banks anymore...they are held in mortgage backed securities. Banks and servicers just collect the payments and do the customer interface portion.

  13. No, they really are being organized by one small group. I get that they may capture the beliefs of a portion of America, but it doesn’t change the fact that this didn’t start organically.

  14. Don't feed the troll. I swear this is the same guy that posts fantastic tales of woe over on APC (such as 9 failed check rides, unbelievable number of DUIs, etc) and then drops the punchline "Do I have a chance?"

  15. No it isnt. I think its just genetic because my grand dad, father, and uncle (fathers brother) had strong body odors. However I am extremely clean and neat because I dont want people to think Im unhygenic and I work out a lot because I know people associate obesity with being dirty. I take very good care of myself. My teeth are clean, straight, white, healthy/cavity free, I shower twice a day, I wash all my laundry in hot water and antibacterial detergent, etcetera etcetera (dont want to list everything I do bc it will be seen as "too much"). Its a lot of work and can get expensive but I know if I dont do it people will assume its a hygeine issue.

  16. Although not an assignment option for anyone here, this a good video of Dean "Gucci" Neeley talking about the NASA ER-2 mission at Palmdale on Earth Day 2020. Gucci has an incredible flying background, including the B-52, T-37, KC-10, T-38, U-2, and F-117 in the USAF.

  18. Not trying to counter your argument, because I agree with what you're highlighting here, but to make it a true apples-to-apples comparison you also have to consider that on the 15 year loan, once it's paid off, all of that monthly payment ($2100/month) would go into that same retirement account for the remainder of the 30 year time period you're discussing. Given the same assumptions of 6%, contributing $2100/month for the final 15 years of the 30 year time period would equal $610,000. Still less than the $664,000 you accrue doing the 30 yr mortgage, but it's a pretty narrow margin that may swing some people's peace-of-mind value toward the 15 yr.

  19. Yes! I never would have caught that. He took over while I was going through OTS -- vaguely remember his change of command.

  20. Either way you look at it, our leaders better figure out their plan to deal with this when people start ignoring the stay at home orders, because that's going to happen and soon! If you're from the south, you many not understand how much we in the north value our summers. Yesterday was the first really nice day of the year (especially since the lockdown) and people were out in droves! Some were defying local orders and on the river fishing. The parks were full of people walking/running with their kids/pets. Ice cream shops were busy. On and on... No fuckin way way people will continue to entertain these stay at home orders as the weather gets nice. Especially as we get more and more testing and people really start to realize that many of us have already had it and are fine and/or to most people it's a minor nuisance.

  22. Im one of those unlucky persons who are young, in shape, have excellent hygiene, but smell bad. Before you ask, no this isnt a joke. And yes I have seen several doctors and many doctors have ran multiple tests on me and everything has come back completely normal. Yes I shower, brush/floss my teeth, wear deoderant, and have no cavities. No I cant smell myself but based off of the comments I get I can conclude that ... The odor makes people's eyes water; it makes their airways burn, nauseates them, makes them cough and sneeze, and the odor spreads like a constant gas and has a 15-50ft radius. My roommate has described it to me as rechid and putrid. Despite this condition, I have aspirations to be a pilot as you can tell by my handle. Im already 35 so my dream of being a fighter pilot might not work out but im willing to settle for RPA. ***So how bad of a time can I expect to have if I persue my dream?*** ***How miserable will military life be with this odor?*** I asked an ex-army vet what they thought would happen if I joined and he told me that I would likely get a "Failure to Adapt" and likely get rejected from the OTS boards. He also said people would likely make my life hell. The other reason I want to be a pilot is because they dont work with many people at a time. . . As far s I know RPAs work with a sensor op. So having only 1 coworker would be ideal so I dont bother too many people with this smell.
