Prozac - You’re all over the place... 1. You’re blaming Trump for many things that the state level chose to do or not do. He is absolutely right to be hesitant at throwing down with national mandates...he’s executing in accordance with our federalist system. He let governors govern their states, as he should; not just because that’s how our system works, but because COVID effects have been wildly different within states, let alone amongst the states. This would have been one of the dumbest “one-size-fits-all” things if that’s the way we would have gone. Be pissed at governors if you disagree with their state policies regarding COVID response, but being pissed at the executive branch because they’ve executed per the law and our federalist system, while acknowledging this situation is light years away from being “standard” among the 50 states, is plain dumb. 2. Mixed messaging, changing positions/opinions, etc. has been predominantly driven by the “experts” getting it wrong in a new way on a weekly basis. He was spouting what his advisors told him for the most part. Lots of unknowns that changed many times due to new info/increased understanding of the virus will obviously drive changing positions/opinions. I’d be concerned if his tune hadn’t changed throughout. I’d expect the same out of 100% of people in his position (take your hindsight vision away for a second). 3. Testing is available for free everywhere I’ve been...of course not in the beginning, but I fail to see how he is “wrong” about that, at least on a macro level. The U.S. has conducted the most tests in the world...so...I’ll just leave it at that. 4. I agree he shouldn’t have been so flippant about it in the beginning, but AOC and Pelosi were calling people racist if they believed in the “China virus” at the same time. So, at best this is a push. 5. His administration put out the economic stimulus. All while governors made draconian decisions that tanked local economies. Again, if you’re pissed about the economy, people being able to pay rent, small businesses closing, etc. then you should be glaring at the governors. They’re the ones who have fucked this up by the numbers and created all the problems you so quickly blame Trump for. 6. Were #9...as in 8 countries doing worse than us, including some prominent European countries. That’s not bragging, because I’m not saying it’s great, but it’s still a far cry from the toted “worst response in the world” diatribe. This also doesn’t account for how large our country is and how connected we are with tons of other countries. There’s a lot of countries who have lower per capita deaths, but they also aren’t connected like us...e.g. this is not a direct correlation with medical capability or availability. For ex, AFG and Ethiopia are doing “better” numbers wise, but they’re also way less connected than us and you’d be retarded if you argued their medical availability/capability is in the same league as us (or better). Not saying you are arguing that specific point... 7. He sucks at communicating, I’m with you on that.3 points

With the benefit of hindsight, what should he have done differently? whatever your answer is, imagine trying to implement that COA in the Feb 2020 environment with the other party calling you racist for curtailing travel from China. There was so much flip flopping on recommendations in the early days, that all politics aside I’m really curious what you think was so obvious.3 points

Uh oh, now I’ve done it. 🙄 So, are all the F-22s and F-35s just missing a seat in your world?2 points

I could see everyones email address who got the invite. its like 58 other dudes. Sorry man if you didn't get it the other day, I wouldn't hold my breath. However, Hawaii ANG's recruiter told me today that they are "slowly sending out a yes or no" to everyone and that everyone should expect to hear "soon" one way or the other. No clue what counts as soon, but I'm thinking everyone should have an answer from them within the next few days. Anyone heard anything from Dallas? They told me a month ago that they were still waiting on the final step before the next interview, and that they think they will be getting back to us in "weeks not months." Sure has been slow going.2 points

It is real. The end game for heavies is airline style training, as far as the Kwast-bred PTN illuminati is concerned. There's even sub-pipelines in the works to get hypothetical regional (and equivalent experience et al) civilian re-treads and just send them to FTU after an assessment of "credit" for civilian training. The paradigm is being baked to dispense with heavy sortie counts in the aircraft, which is SOP in airline training. That means T-1 sims only in the most likely formulation, though they'd love to jam the FTUs with T-6 direct. That's their Motrin you see; every problem in the USAF can be solved by Oculus and "t-6 dIrEcT". They got a fever, and the only Rx...is more T-6. *cowbell clanging* As to the question about quality, the quiet part has already been spoken out loud. It's even in the title FFS. This is about throughput and quantity, not quality. As to retention? oh children, enough already....They don't care about retention. And our new CSAF already took a jab at critics in that propaganda piece. So don't forget, any objective criticism of these opportunity costs just lands you in Luddite "you're part of the problem, old guy" re-education camp. Now it's on public record, so there should be no question what the marching orders are from the top. This will be the new reality. And be careful, the commissars are everywhere, "mentoring" has already occurred in some instances, if I may be euphemistic. From the article [my emphasis]: So they don't need your skepticism, now get back on the parade line and look enthusiastic for dear Leader, you're not singing convincingly enough. 😄 Stay safe out there everyone. It’s almost like the thing that makes you a more experienced pilot that is better at flying tasks is...more flying.1 point

Excuse me if this has already been posted, but when I read this the thought occurred to me that if prior flying experience is helpful to new UPT students, perhaps the same concept might apply to post-UPT students as well. “What the study found was in line with what we value already from the PCSM, in that the AFOQT scores, number of previous flight hours and any potential previous aeronautical ratings most positively relate to a successful student,” Dillenburger said. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2020/02/21/air-force-confirms-effectiveness-of-a-pilot-selection-tool-even-though-it-may-hinder-diversity/1 point

I just closed on a VA IRRRL with Amy (PilotWife2) from NBKC. I got a fantastic rate on a VA Jumbo loan (thanks CA). Contact her direct to see what she can do for you. This is my second time using NBKC and they've been great both times. I'm a very lazy man and I barely had to lift a finger to complete the paperwork. Two Thumbs Up.1 point

Our primary mission sets are pretty well known things we practice for and singularly focus on learning TTPs. That’s a terrible analogy.1 point

I did RJs from 2013-2017 at Offutt (non-EWO). Omaha was a surprisingly great town to live in. The winters were cold and its a long drive to get away. But otherwise the wife and I enjoyed it. Cost of living wasn't bad. Nice downtown scene. The area around base was decent compared to a lot of bases. I felt like there was a lot of politics in the Wing, with the "front end" and "back end" crew members being split into different units. The RJ has three officer AFSCs on its crew, and there were elements in each "tribe" jockeying for relevance. But that seemed to go away during deployments. I really enjoyed the mission. From the EWOs I worked with, the theme was that guys who preferred a stable family life went RJ. The single dudes who loved travel and per diem went CB and CS. The more high speed EWOs were always being groomed for WIC. But if I remember right, they also had opportunities to do JOCCP, which is a much more rare and interesting track IMO.1 point

When I was at Mtn Home, we started a thing to have all the new IWSO's and soon-to-be-IWSO's come over and ride in our D model for some more advanced BFM concepts. I think I did about 9 or 10 of those rides. Not one had a clue, they all said to do the wrong thing constantly. They would argue with me when I wasn't their voice-activated auto pilot. In the debrief, most of them were very cool and got some good learning out of it. A few of them might-as-well have crossed their arms, stomped their feet and put their fingers in their ears when I was trying to teach. Ah well.... I've never had to fly with WSO's. That one small window to the community was enough for me. It's not an opinion for the ANG. We don't have the money to fund enough pilots for our current jets. There simply isn't enough money to have twice as many officers; it's not like AD where they just say "we're doing this" and let the money people figure it out. I'll be completely shocked if the ANG starts flying with WSO's again even if AD force-feeds WSO's into a/a squadrons.1 point

If Trump were your wing commander and managed your wing's primary mission as he's done COVID, would you approve of his performance? We excoriate commanders on here for much, much more competent leadership.1 point

Do you have anything showing this was "wildly overused" by the Obama administration. Given this was a new level of interference by a formidable state actor, with a willing and compliant candidate and transition team...what options would you suggest the current President use? Don't act like historical norms should be adhered to, this was new ground. I've gone through the Intelligence training on collection and the other things you mention. You're acting like it got brought up to the Honorable Appointees and they went, "Republican? Fuck em."1 point

The “Fuck everyone who’s not a progressive socialist!” will be the downfall of the Democratic Party. See how this goes? You are an idiot if you can’t see this bullshit coming from both sides. The problem with America is 80% of us are generally moderate +/- center a bit, but the other 20% are bat shit crazy and have consumed politics, the media, etc. Instructional Fix: The 80% get off their asses and do something about it, instead of just bitching in private and doing nothing about it. FWIW, I live in a very liberal/libertarian area. The amount of hate, intolerance, and “assimilate to us or you should fuck off and die!” is HEAVY from the left and almost non-existent from the libertarians and conservatives. It’s truly amazing to see the difference in discourse...us moderates are absolutely disgusted with it, which helps push me over the edge to the other side. So that dovetails into... We have trump because of the insane bullshit the far left was pedaling - and they’ve quadrupled down in the last 3 years. I mean WTF, lots of moderates don’t want trump, but we also don’t want anti-constitution people who are attempting to shove socialism down our throats and fundamentally alter America in a negative way. Bring the Democrats back towards the center, push the far left lunatics into a new “Progressive” party, and we can have a 4 party system (the other being Libertarian) that will give better options than Trump or Kamala. The democrats even may have had me at Tulsi, but she was too moderate for them.1 point

It’s irrelevant as to whether the Russian/Chinese FLANKERS are on an American military unit emblem because of a mistake or because or regulation. What matters is that it makes you look stooopid. Surely it’s someone’s job in the Air Force to give a shit about that, even if it does mean having to know your arse from your elbow?1 point

I completely moab'd the AFOQT the first time. Decided to enroll in a flight major because I wanted all the FW ratings with all the instructor ratings incase my scores weren't the best 2nd time around. #gibill My second attempt scores are: P99 N85 AA51 V37 Q64. I guess words are just hard sometimes. I haven't taken the TBAS yet after all these years after bombing the AFOQT. I plan on taking the TBAS before I start my MEI add on training. Thats the last certification im going for. I don't plan on getting the seaplane stuff. Im currently at 300+ hours and with a P99, I'm hoping for a decent PCSM. Practically starting college over really helped my gpa. I had a 3.0 from before and I currently have a 3.95. Schools about to start so I do need to keep the grades up. I plan on reaching out to my previous commanding officers for LORs. Would a previous flight instructor be better or the officers I worked with while I was in the Army? How bad does my verbal score look? Anyways, just thought id update y'all since ive been lurking these boards when I thought the dream was over.1 point

They’ve been saying this about the next generation since the beginning of time. “Children; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. They no longer rise when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents and tyrannize their teachers. Children are now tyrants.“ - Socrates1 point

So the President of the United States should be held to a (much) lower standard than an O6? Really? Because an unexpected crisis happened? (That there absolutely are OPLANs in place for) I kinda thought that WAS the job. We expect military leaders at all levels to be able to lead effectively in combat, where, famously, no plan survives the first contact with the enemy. They typically do a far better job adapting to adversity than this President has. There are many, many O6s out there that I would trust to do a better job leading the country than this draft dodger in chief. Some of you guys are giving this guy a pass for shit you’d NEVER tolerate from a wingman, co-pilot, squadron mate, or Commander. I can only imagine the some of the comments here if a Democrat were pulling half the shenanigans you’re willing to let slide with this reality TV clown. Look, I don’t expect lifelong conservatives with some very valid opposing world views to all of a sudden start singing Nancy Pelosi’s praises. Lord knows the Dems have plenty of their own issues. But to continue to praise this sorry excuse for a human being as if he’s the second coming of Jesus and shrug off his obvious failures......sorry guys. I just don’t get it.0 points

It’s easy to say that, and I won’t argue that he did. Anyone would say Nazis are bad when questioned directly, of course. “You had people -- and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists; they should be condemned totally -- you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists.“ But he also said numerous times that this group had fine people in it that werent neo-Nazis or white supremacists. The group doesn’t deserve such leniency just because they had Trump flags with them. It legitimizes a group, which included such people as David Duke, as a group that was more moderate than they really were. I, and much of America, disagree that there were “many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists.” Call a spade a spade.-1 points
