  1. You're right, landing (on the right runway) with two out of the 3 gear is a win in the 17 community.

  2. You just called the cop in that video a racist. There is no black man in the video. You don't know who that cop is. But because he is a cop, in your mind...he's a racist. What a horrible way to think.

  3. I won't speculate but would really like to see the report. I flew in same airspace a few hours before this and the weather was fine, although it was forecast to get worse around the time of the crash with showers and such during the POTUS rally two hours later at KPNS. Standard wild witness statements ranging from "Aircraft was in a tailspin", "I could hear the engine howling as they came down", to "I could tell the pilot was trying to avoid the houses." One report said they were going to land at Foley, the crash site is 2.6 miles due west of the center of the Foley airport but they were also within the confines of the MOA above. There is an OLF in the area but it was over 7 miles west. Part of the business but always sad to lose two more souls of the .3% that raise their hand to serve this country. RIP.

  4. Slackline man...seriously? You’re being a troll. It’s not propaganda to post a video that shows a real life event without any commentary. That’s just a weird statement. And did he have to add constructive words to the post? Is that a requirement? Do you have questions for him instead of accusations? Maybe ask him why he posted it instead of assuming. Which I’m not saying you are liberal but that is a very liberal and radical feminism thing to do. You’re better than that. The military should have taught you better than that. Hope this was just a momentary lack of judgement. I have many. Also, what evidence do you have that a black dude in this exact same scenario would have been shot sooner? Are saying these two cops would have done something different based on the color of the guys skin? So same time of day, same location, same cops, same everything except skin color. And if that were the case you are saying that the black dude would have been gunned down way sooner? Based off what facts, reason or logic? Dude. The only racism here is your statement. I would have a tough time working in the military with those sick twisted racist thoughts. That’s not what America is about slackline. I challenge you to explain what you meant. I will retract if I’m totally off base.

  5. He is at least right about one thing : as little government as possible. Push power down to the states and local governments. One seriously must be living in a bubble if they believe the answer to their problems is “more government.” The government couldn’t run a convenience store without running it into the ground. Seriously what is wrong with people?

  6. My question to the liberals on this board is, what do you stand for? What do you actually get up in the morning and think, if this went away, I'm doomed. Or if it goes this way, I've got it made in the shade. In case you didn't ask, I'll tell you what I stand for. I stand for liberty. Freedom. I live on 37 acres. In the woods. Rural. Can't get that easy anywhere else on earth. I treasure that. That's liberty (From HOAs) and freedom. I make my own decisions. The grocery store is pretty far down the road. I have a garden. I have a well. I have chickens and goats. Whenever I decide I need to gather up a burn pile of deadfall that's the size of a Dominos store, I pile it up and burn it. I treasure that. There are no restrictions. There are no HOAs. I look at people that live in urban and suburban life and I can see why they would want to depend on the government, especially if it all went down hill. I want as little gov't involvement as possible, especially if it goes down hill. Have liberals given up on being independent and pioneering? /Rant/ Males (definitely not men) in this country have devolved to phoning it in to living in the suburbs. They don't know how to change a tire. They don't don't know how to grow food. They don't know how to fish. They certainly can't field dress a deer. They don't know how to do anything except to watch Netflix and order in. They are all caught up in the liberal bullshit of the day: transgender/#metoo/blacklivesmatter. Maybe that's ok for generations that are overtaking me. I don't subscribe to that mentality or lifestyle. I think it is a shame. /Rant off/

  8. I side with the cops, of course, as they are playing by the rules. But the rules are stupid. Two cops should be able to deal with a guy with a knife, unless it's a ninja. They might get hurt, but that's the job. Hell, this is actually a case where "shoot him in the leg" is a realistic COA. Or taze him. Or pepper spray. Or use a bolas. If he starts stabbing someone, then yeah, kill him. Michael Brown was a good shoot. And when it's an evenly matched fight, the cops should use their guns to make it uneven. But every time I see multiple cops drawing on one guy without a gun, it just seems wrong. Remember that kid in the hotel with nothing but basketball shorts and a T-shirt? Like six cops obliterated him because he was "reaching" for something. Absurd. When did the cops become such pussies? They aren't, of course, but the rules are sure making it look that way. The old men who got knocked over during the protests were disgusting too. Really couldn't think of a way to handle that? Throw him over your shoulder, drag him to the truck, but just knock him on his ass? Police departments with old MRAPs. Camouflage. It's just wrong. American policing does. not. have a racism problem. But it does have a brutality problem. Conservatives need to acknowledge that. But that's not going to happen while liberals misrepresent every infraction as racist. And so the dance continues.

  9. Not a liberal but literally NONE of that matters. Although I'm sure some grandpa's back during WW2 bemoaned that the worlds greatest generation didn't know how to change wagon wheels or work a plow. The world is changing. Self sufficiency is a nice ideal but you have to recognize civilization is held on the pillars of cooperation, not on the pillars of individualism.

  10. No one is talking about it because the media is complicit in the plan to destroy this country from the left. Where have you been the last 5-6 years? If this was Don Jr or Eric with the same degree of evidence it would be on 24/7 coverage, tell me I am wrong? I do agree that this won’t sway many undecided voters. The question is how many will enthusiastically get off their behind and vote for their candidate. Look at the enthusiasm at their rallies, and I think you’ll get your answer. Side note: the economy was booming under Trump prior to China infecting then world with Covid...and all things considered the economy is making a strong rebound (unless you live in states like Michigan or New York.) Trump has already proven he can make the right decisions for a strong economy amongst other things.

  11. I am talking specifically about the criminal background. You basically have to have never made a mistake in your life. Mental health background has to be squeaky clean as well. Bottom line is the city is going to give you a gun and they see it as a liability if youre ever involved in a shooting and someone can question your mental acumen.

  12. Yes I acknowledge police officers by far don't have the MOST dangerous job in the United States but they do have a higher than normal rate of danger. There are some key differences in the instances of officer deaths. One important one is that when an officer is killed in the line of duty it is an assault on an institution (justice by law) that attacks the fabric of society. This makes it more reprehensible than others occupational deaths. There is also the caveat that police officers work largely an environment where people are attempting to undermine them, where as other occupations do not. Hence their danger is relative to their vigilance. We have to recognize that police officers do not take the same types of Hippocratic oaths, and therefore do not have the same moral obligations to accept increasingly higher amounts of risk like members of the military. Despite that, they already are accepting higher risk. People often say "officers need more training" to which I ask... ok? What kind of training? What are they not already getting that you think will solve this issue. Simply pointing to training is like say SAPR training is going to eliminate rapes in the military. Its more complex than that. When this thread opened I left a page on meaningful police reforms. That was the post I was alluding to and I was hoping people would find it. Regardless, I'll recap some of them. By and large the largest hurdle the criminal justice system faces in the country is lack of focus and lack of funding. They've suffered in much the same way the military has where they continually succumb to mission creep of increasingly greedy political officials who seek reelection, yet their budget is often the first to suffer spending cuts when room needs made for a high priority item that makes the city look good. Seattle is a great example of how toxic the relationship between political officials and the police department are. The Seattle mayor is literally denigrating police officers on live TV telling them they don't uphold the cities standards yet she appointed and empowered every single one of them to include the ones drawing departmental policies. When the military suffers failure it is embarrassing for the POTUS. Somehow police departments do not carry the same weight of blame. Regarding meaningful reforms: 1.) Officer manning needs increased exponentially. Most people are surprised to learn officers are no longer partnered. The buddy system is integral to literally every other job in the emergency response industry to include the military and fire departments. We bemoan our police officers for being in fear for their lives but we send them of into communities that are often very hostile to them, by themselves. When my wife worked her metropolitan district she patrolled an under privileged neighborhood on the outskirts of the city where her nearest response was 18 minutes away. 2.) To add to officer manning, it has long been known that community policing is more effective but far less efficient than patrol cars. Techniques like walking patrols and police kiosks are instrumental to creating communities ties. Think of your relationship with your postman. You probably don't know him by name or much about his family but I bet you know his face and trust him because he drops the mail off to you every day without fail. Because of that, you have developed trust with him, and you would think to tell him if something was wrong with your mail delivery service. When police officers patrol in vehicles, they become unapproachable. Walking patrols are extraordinarily effective but come with less safety for the officer and a much larger task to efficiency. Hence back to my prior point about manning. 3.) Standards for career field entry for police departments are extraordinarily high. Much higher than holding a TS/SCI. The background check is very rigorous. This is problematic though. It makes it hard to recruit people of adversity or difficult backgrounds. Some people screw up in life, but they turn out to be amazing people who would make amazing mentors and roll models. Policing is primarily a community focused roll and the people serving a community should come from within it. Yet in some of the worst neighborhoods we can't do this because the people that grow up in those climates are unlikely to make it to college with a completely clean record. A pathway needs to be created to get these people of excellent character into the field without expecting perfection in their background. 4.) End the war on drugs. I'm not sure this one is worth debating anymore. Very few people support the massive resource waste this is at the moment. I'm not saying crack parties for all, but lets be sensible and stop wasting massive resources on find people and arresting people who the only thing they've done was jay walked with heroine in their pocket. 5.) Traffic camera enforcement: This one is unpopular but I've come to realize it has some major advantages. The first one is, it removes cops from pulling traffic which has largely become an industry to prop city revenues and it against waste police officers time and resources. That industry has stained the community perception of police officers and tarnished the reputation of their office. It creates thousands of negative interactions with cops every year. If people have a bad story about a cop its usually about how they were an ass hole for giving them a speeding ticket. Its also a waste of the above mentioned limited resources and manning. I think any conversation on how to reform criminal justice in the United States needs to begin with how do we increase public trust in the police department and make the work environment safer for cops. If you can start there you can probably start to find solutions. But the problem is, all of them cost money, and no one wants to hold political officials accountable for doing a terrible job of appropriating departments.

  14. Valid...unless it’s claims against the current sitting president, then everything that the MSM puts out is true, regardless if any credible evidence is presented. That is to say I agree with your statement, but social media and the MSM are doing an incredibly piss poor job at adhering to it. What makes it worse is it’s incredibly one sided politically, which scares me (and would still do so if it was all rampantly anti-democrat). The bullshit pushed by the MSM is no better than what’s pushed by the fringes...it’s out of control, and people across the entire political spectrum eat up their side while minimizing the opposite. The close-mindedness/pick-a-side running rampant in America is frightening.

And just because something happened somewhere else doesn’t mean that you can apply the data to a different situation and call it the same. I agree. Systematic racism of affirmative action needs to be stopped. Man it’s like arguing with a brand new Lt. Or young airman. I would be very surprised if you are older than about 26-28 and have been in the military very long. Your ability to rationalize your own garbage in your own echo chamber is impressive!

  19. In general? Over all time maybe. Certainly compared to the Air Force. But the ground pounders were absolutely expected to get hurt. Doesn't mean you tried to, doesn't mean we wanted them to, but we all know it would happen. And they didn't get to unload on some Iraqi shop owner because he reached for something. That would protect them but damage the mission. Policing is the same. As I said, in a one on one engagement, the cop should shoot the guy with the knife. But are we going to pretend that the risk stays the same regardless of the number of cops going against one assailant? That's forced ignorance. If this guy had a knife, would these cops be in mortal danger?: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/09/us/police-shooting-video-arizona.html Sorry, but I don't believe in that vision of American policing. And if you think it's as simple as "just do what the cops say, you won't get shot," have you ever been drunk? Ever had a cop pointing a gun at your face? Hard to think clearly. Shouldn't be a death sentence. Sim's video is a great example of how, overwhelmingly, our cops do the right thing. And neither of those cops died. They should have tazed him from the start, and shot him once he charged. But let's not pretend like they're all like that. Reaching for something that might be a gun is not the same as having a gun. Not sure where you're coming from with the disability payments. I never made that argument, don't support it, so I'm not going to defend it.

  20. Uh..... first off.... a knife is probably going to kill you not hurt you. Knife wounds are generally more lethal than gun shot wounds. Second, no.... getting hurt is not part of the job. I cant understand how anyone with any sense of morality can believe its somebodies job to get hurt. That's like people saying if you in the military your job is to die for your country. Uh, no its not. Here is why cops shoot people with knives. This is based off actual research performed by the FBI. The TTPs are pretty advanced. (not all covered in this video) Usually one officer is paired with a lethal and another officer with a non-lethal. (taser, pepper ball, etc...) Edit: I'm just going to add too, I've been doing MMA for 15 years and if someone came at me with a knife, I'm sure as fuck running. Ive been stabbed once in high school, and it sucked balls.

  21. You've got the benefit of space, and that's great. You've got enough land where you don't have to interact with people if you don't want to; "leave me alone and I'll leave you alone." The challenge with cities is population density. More people living much closer together, which creates friction, and with that comes rules to reduce friction/conflict. Industrialization concentrates populations, and encourages people to specialize in tasks. This also drives technological advances. It's easy to call out others for lacking skills you have and thinking of them as lesser people for it. But maybe they aren't interested in your hobbies. Not saying that the skills you mentioned (changing a tire, fishing, hunting, etc) are bad; they're great. Are they essential? Depends on your outlook on society. The heart of the matter is what the role of society should be. How individualistic should we be, and how much should we cooperate towards collective goals? Ref. BLM/LGBT/etc, I think people just want to be treated as people. Sure there are some associated with those interest that want outlandish things, but I'd wager most just want to have an even footing in life so they can pursue their life/liberty/happiness. Some of the issues may be injustices/biases in our system/society-let's do some real root cause analysis as a society/state/country and fix it. We tend to ignore and kick societal issues down the road until it boils over into violence, so here we are...

  22. We agree, but individualism is one of the key elements that made us (and thus the rest of the world) thrive. We do not believe in responsibility to the collective. That doesn't mean we don't cooperate, we just do it on our terms. Numb nuts on his 37 acres is just an isolationist. Glad he had the freedom to do it, but it doesn't push the society forward, and if everyone wanted that, we'd get nowhere.

  30. Joyride??? Are you freaking kidding me? Plan a 4 ship TOT Involving airspace issues and ground coordination. That's a real world requirement. Park in airspace that deconflicts with a variety of threats and restrictions. Been there, done that. Work comm issues with a ground party to hit a TOT and solve weather, threat, and last minute changes to accurately arrive when and where you want to be. Easier said than done but part of the job description. No doubt TOTs have been missed and formation positions have been atrocious but the answer is more training not less. If you can't master the basics, the complex mission tasks aren't going to be any easier.

  44. Um, John Q. Public here. I love a flyby as much as the next guy, but sorry, I'm not paying taxes so that you can go out and have a unique joyride in the jet. I pay taxes to maintain a competent fighting force. Training (or recruitment objectives) damn well better factor into every flight you take. You want to go joyride? Buy your own $200M jet and offer services to the NFL on your own time. And yeah, a flyover might be light on legitimate training objectives, but if you can't learn something from one, you're doing it wrong. Based on some of the atrocious TOTs I've seen on TV over the last few years, most of the guys flying them need the training.
