  1. I propose it becomes “Cal” in the north, “Ifor” in the middle, and “Nia” in the south.

  2. I gotta disagree with you on this one. The country is not evenly divided, and it is unhealthy for all the big cities to be making the legislation that governs the rural areas. Electoral college is the best prevention against one specific ideology running the country while alienating an entire half of the country. It's a good way to keep the masses from voting mob rules. 4. Amendments do to a certain extent, but at times when one party or the other has controlled both sides of congress and the presidency no one has tried seriously to change that cap...so it seems that much like immigration no one cares enough to spend the political capital for a change.

  11. The difference is "our" (I'm not really a Republican) wackos aren't mainstreamed by the party. Seriously, you don't see proud boys or white nationalists doing interviews on Fox news. And you don't have a hard time finding Republican politicians who actively condemn them. Conversely, critical race theory and all the other harmful, lunatic propositions are advocated for at the highest levels of power within the Democratic party. And it's a lot easier to find mainstream politicians who will outright refuse to acknowledge the violence of antifa. As usual, Bill Maher is spot on in his criticisms of his own party.

  12. The very big take away here is if a commander needs a contractor to advise him on these types of tasks, he is not suited for command. That to me is a significant problem. A commander needing to solicit advice on policy, strategy, geo political relationships is one thing, because those are fields that take a lifetime of expertise. However, if a commander needs to solicit advice on the very basics of leadership, that is problematic.

  13. Well I think a constitutional amendment carries a little more weight than a law. Especially one that created an arbitrary cap on the number of representatives just before we add the 47th and 48th states. But he probably shouldn't have replied to you. Especially if his intent was to target his comment at those in this thread arguing originalism. I donno man, haha I was just trying to provide another view point of his comment. 14. I would recommend focusing efforts not on the contractor advice, but on addressing your commander not performing the duties he's required to (offering continuation without regard to ADSC/bonus/whatever). That's the root cause of your problem. The contractor angle probably wouldn't solve your issue-the Wg/CC still owns the decision/action regardless of the advise given to them. The strats and job pushes don't come from the contractor, the Wg/CC is putting their name/signature on those, so it's unlikely that the COR will find anything that changes your situation, and that just burns time that you don't have to resolve the issue

  16. A digital watch with the ability to set multiple alarms and vibrates when the alarm goes off like this one:Timex Men's T49851 Expedition Vibrating Alarm Black Resin Strap Watch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GHLEMQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_sHCSFbKDKZ7QS . It was great while at OTS as I could set it for a minute or two before they started banging on the doors at 0430 and I could be some what coherent while scrambling. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and still use it.

  18. Except, it hasn't functioned as written in over 100 years, when the number of representatives was capped at 435. Anyone who claims to support the idea of the electoral college due to founding principles has to at least acknowledge this disparity, that gives a Wyoming resident 3x the voting power of a Texas resident. The "Wyoming Rule" is a workable fix for this, but I doubt we'll see it.

  20. You're gonna need a lot more affidavits from election worker randos to convince me that election fraud is the root cause of trump losing virtually every swing state up for grabs and the popular vote by 6-9 million. You can't take "eyewitness" anecdotes from one district and extrapolate that into a broader fraud narrative in an election where 150 million people voted.

  24. I'm 99.99% certain they are not. Only 99.99% because there is always the .01% bullshit case out there. But I was a COR for several years and it was very explicit in the training that contractors cannot supervise military members. In fact, I believe in the web software used for the official contract reports, it directly asks this question each month. Commanders are not always smart on contracts/contractors. They often are appointed in quality assurance roles but have the bare minimum of training on appropriate utilization. I would approach the COR/KO/JA about it and get their take. Edit: Are you able to provide more context? Because you used the word command as well. Under Title 10, only a commissioned officer can command. There are very specific authorities associated with command, I'm no means an expert at this but your situation is certainly interesting. Generally this works both ways as well. A member of the military member cannot tell a contractor to fire an employee because that employee performs unsatisfactory or does something grotesque. The only thing the military can do is provide a cure notice that the contractor is out of compliance with the contract and its up to the contractor to realize that replacing the employee will bring them back to compliance.

  25. A bit of a drift from the Shaw crash topic, but still relevant. My time at Travis thankfully ended 6 years ago, but I remember a lot of wasted effort primarily designed to lick Travis’s own balls. 4x KC-10s would launch in both the morning and evening, all flying 5 hour sorties and burning 100k lbs of gas to maintain C-17 and C-5 AR currency. Entire AR tracks would be consumed by non-current reservists bobbling around in pre-contact for an hour solely for the extremely unlikely chance that someone would ask a C-5 (or a non-airdrop C-17) to do AR operationally. At the same time, mission commanders at LFEs are struggling to figure out fallout plans in case 1 of the half-full -135s no-shows. God forbid if the only one left is drogue-only. The idea that half of D$N night or NH may have to RTB early for lack of available airborne fuel is downright shameful. And now, reading that West Coast fighter units and FTUs don’t have enough tanker availability to maintain basic fighter AR quals, it’s even more apparent that the priorities are out of whack. Maybe it’s all fixed now, it’s been a while.

  26. The "Let's mail ballots to every one on our DMV/voter rolls/residents" technique has not improved the confidence in the outcome. Perception is reality to some people so why not remove the perception of fraud by implementing a voting system that does exactly that. The argument, "Well, voter fraud exists but in such small numbers it doesn't matter" gets shaky when win/loss margins are very narrow and, once again, there are enough documented accounts of fraudulent voting or ballot irregularities to challenge the election results or stir up hate and discontent. Every LEGAL vote should count and every ILLEGAL vote should be discarded. As an aside, a friend worked with the National Park Service and did a couple 3 month gigs in a park in Kenya. Their Kenyan election system requires ID and each voter gets purple dye applied to a fingernail which is permanent until the nail grows out. There are no debates over legal or illegal voting there.

  27. Trump knows he lost, he’s just dragging it out to try and inflict political damage on Biden. I personally don’t think that there’s a massive multi-state conspiracy that’s keeping him from a fair election; that requires too many moving parts to execute. His own actions turned previous supporters against him. I will say this, if the tables were turned and Trump was getting all the mail-in votes, and Biden lost his election night lead over it. We all know what the reaction on the streets/MSM would have been...and it wouldn’t be how Trump supporters are handling it.
