  2. I am extremely grateful for all the posters in this group and can proudly say I was offered my dream job as a KC135 UPT selectee today. This thread has been a wealth of knowledge. KC135 board. 3 pilots, 1 boom operator (Captain to LT Col). Most relaxed, human interview I've participated in and so glad I get to call this unit my future home. "Tell us about yourself" "Tell us about your civilian job and what its like" "Do you want to be an airline pilot?" "If you could get in the plane right now and go anywhere, where would you go and what would you eat?" "How do you handle conflict with another person?" "Tell us about your flight experience" "Ever have an instructor you didn't mesh with and how did you handle it?" "What do you do as an Army Officer?" "Favorite movie/food/drink? " "Questions for us?" PCSM 97 Pilot 87 250TT Age 26 If anybody has specific questions or anything, please feel free to message me and we can talk!

  5. He is the top paid Federal Employee in the government and I have no idea why. Seriously, you could pay me half of what he makes, which would be half of $416,000, and I'll make stupid decisions and save the government money.

  6. Probably should start a thread for opinions about why some people prefer explosions under their hood, or would rather hear whining. The whining includes whatever custom sounds the EV maker has put in place to warn children crossing to watch-out!

  9. Are you a senior O3 in the scroll for O4? I was a rated guy, from another branch, and at time felt like I was some type of rated “bastard” that would bring some kind of baggage to the transfer process. Perhaps is not you, or your scores but the process to bring guys like us over is someone difficult and a dark hole of some type. It also felt like it was simpler to bring an off the street guy on board vs me. Anyway... I don’t have the secret recipe for ya nor do I have the special souse to tell ya about. All I can say is come to peace with the fact that your at a disadvantage. Chase the daemon and let all the rejection TBNT emails fuel your hunger to get hired somewhere. And if it all fails, ya can always join the army and go fly for those bros. Quality of life might get downgraded a bit though FYI... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  10. I agree. I can really only think of two reasons not to buy a Tesla over similarly priced competition: 1. You are going to use it as more than just a commuter car and live in a place where the charging infrastructure isn't full up yet. 2. You are an enthusiast and want a drivers car. But for pretty much any other situation the Tesla is going to be the superior choice. When you consider cost of ownership, performance, features, practicality, and continuing improvements in the form of over the air updates Tesla simply blows everyone else out of the water.

  13. I'm brand new to the 777, and the F/O on this flight out of Denver was on both of my international IOE trips a while back. Absolutely stellar airline pilot and a good shit. I hope he gets the accolades he deserves.

  14. America only classifies technical facts, but the bulk of the information and culture that gives us a strategic advantage is out there for everyone to see. In fact, we can help but to advertise it so everyone can know how cool we are. It’s only a matter of time until they change themselves from a day, VFR, GCI Air Force to the night, all-weather self-determining force we once were...

  16. This actually isnt' true. At least FOX, I know for sure, was all over Cruz for several days and even ran a side by side headline heavily critical over Cruz and Cuomo both on their main website. The conflict of interest with the Cuomo family at CNN is certainly concerning to its reporting though.

  17. This series of articles highlights the "Animal Farm" that the NYT - our supposed paper of record - has become: https://nypost.com/2021/02/10/ny-times-defends-1619-project-creator-after-she-doxxed-reporter/ https://nypost.com/2021/02/11/read-the-column-the-new-york-times-didnt-want-you-read/ https://nypost.com/2021/02/10/the-woke-mob-now-utterly-rules-the-new-york-times/ https://nypost.com/2021/02/09/war-erupts-at-ny-times-after-donald-mcneil-ousted-over-n-word-controversy/ In short, Nikole Hannah-Jones doxxed a journalist because she didn't like his questions about her previous (perhaps appropriate) use of the N-word. The questioning led her to delete her entire twitter history and post some nonsense about how she "routinely" deletes previous posts. I'm not personally surprised by this, because she is ultimately one garbage person, but the disparate response by the NYT decision makers is "problematic" to say the least. At the same time, another NYT journalist, Donald McNeil, has been summarily ousted because of his use of the N-word. If you read into that situation's background, you'll find it wasn't used maliciously. What's more, is that the NYT scuttled a critical, though valid, piece of its own handling of that situation - which drew attention to how context matters and is being fully disregarded in this case. I can't say I'm actually surprised by them not self-publishing an article airing their own dirty laundry, but it is important for us to understand the filter that anything the NYT publishes has passed through. Even more important, though, is that instances like this highlight the growing institutional acceptance and normalization of mob rule, arbitrary rule-making, and unprincipled application. Rules for thee, not for me. This is the type of power "1984" warns us about.

  20. NCOs don't get vetted by the Senate, and it's not like she can get promoted any further without commissioning, so it's a moot point in this case. So yeah, that rule doesn't apply to her. That being said, it's our job as officers to lead and discipline our enlisted (and ourselves). I'm sure someone in the CSAF's office (or at least PA) has had a talk with her, and if not, well, I'd be disappointed. And if we don't handle the situation, Congress could decide to weigh in if it garners too much negative press. Which it hasn't, and likely won't. That's not to say her comments weren't wrong (they are), but there likely won't be a public admonishment. People cry about this being a one mistake AF, and then complain when leadership decides not to crucify people for a mistake. So long as the CSAF has confidence in her, she'll stay right where she is.

  23. So I got my PRF back for the upcoming O-5 board. Keep in mind that I am a 4x APZ, but I got the following on my push line: #1/2 Eligible, #5/24 O-4's, Def Promote I also got a DP I checked last years stats and APZ, w/IDE complete, and a DP was 15/15 selected (for my board). But, it would be really on-brand for me to be the first ever (under the new board process) APZ w/DP to not get promoted. So that is what I am expecting. But, who knows.

  25. Also, as Guard/Reserve, any time you accrue under Title 10 orders can be applied towards reduced retirement age, I think in 90 day increments. So for a guard baby, that should at the very least be 2 years (AMS/UPT/BCourse) plus any deployments subtracted from Guard retirement age. Collect that money earlier! Its not automatic. You gotta go on vMPF, search for it, upload all your orders, and they gonkulate a new retirement date for you.

  26. If noone has told you, if able, make sure you get 50 points during this year while you wait to go to training. I understand that this may not be possible with the current situation. You get 15 points for just being a member of the ANG and you get an additional point for ever pay card you turn in. The 50 points are based on your enlistment year, not fiscal year or calendar year. If you don't get 50 points, that year won't count as a "good" year toward your 20 years for retirement.

  27. CLASSIC You clearly aren’t going anywhere, just trying to get others to justify your decision - Stick around as long as you can on the govt teat until they no longer want you, and at that point, you’re done (on their terms). Good luck if that’s 2 yrs or so out and the hiring boom is subsiding. But hey, you can tell everyone who don’t care “I was a commander”. A few gems on here that will not fit your narrative but worth considering. I’ll add my own. 1 - Command is overrated these days 2 - If you are behind the curve on promotions and just “always wanted to make LtCol”, well - you’ll make it and good luck with final 2-3 yrs 3 - The AF doesn’t have you or your families best interest on their radar, they just kinda need you 4 - The AFR and ANG are the best options to open a wealth of opportunities for careers, promotions, and wealth building that you will never know. 05 just to join, 06 if you participate, 07 if you desire to be somebody... In closing - You seem to be risk adverse, so you will do fine right where you are. Best of Luck, the AF preys on the 15-18yr sanctuary dudes..🍺 Footnote: Not a whole lot of financial gain for service years after 20 (of which you can easily gain within AFR/ANG with minimal effort)

  28. The fact that the lab rats are self selecting for a variety of roles in this grand experiment should make for excellent research results down the line...Not often that subjects will volunteer for a possibly fatal role in a great medical/sociological experiment like Covid.. The conclusions may very well save a lot of lives the next time.. We shall see....
