  1. "Fatal role"? People like you are ubelieveable. "The virus is 99% survivable". "This vaccine which has had 2 deaths in millions of cases is playing Russian Roulette!"

  2. You haven't figured out that good dude ≠ good leader? The system is designed to select for exactly this type of action. Every single step of the process. There's only one option: quit. Your country doesn't need you right now. And when it does, these careerist clowns will be the first to go.

  4. Basically pro pay for certain government employees, particularly doctors. Throw in the fact that he's got 50+ years of government service, and is the head of a government agency, so roughly equivalent to GO/SES pay scales as a starting point. Have to pay to recruit and retain talent, especially with highly skilled/educted professions. Your strategy sounds just like why the AF kept the pilot bonus so low for so long, and have a retention problem. If you're outraged about Fauci's pay, are you also outaged that the highest paid state employee in several states is a football coach?

  5. There is no world in which fighter pilot callsigns will be run by the EO office. It's hilarious that this dumbass of a squadron commander thinks that would ever be a thing that anyone would agree to. I would 110% prefer to not have an official callsign than to do this dickdance and I know every single other pilot in the entire CAF feels the exact same way. The predictable result of this is that squadrons are just going to have secret roll calls and namings off base with no bobs invited. Those will be twice as rowdy and irresponsible as if they just let us have our fun in the bar. If I was the mayor during this train wreck I would, in order: -resign -cancel all future rolls calls and namings -tell everyone in the squadron to stop wearing their callsign name tags -and then I'd coordinate on the bro level to throw the biggest effing offensive secret naming rager of all time.

  6. In a similar vein, the book "The Billion Dollar Spy" is a great read regarding the gathering of data on Soviet radars, etc. from an Engineer in Moscow. Describes some amazing spy work and how they did it.

  10. @robby8388@URTHopeful2021 How did you all get notification of MFS appointment? Still awaiting mine...

  11. @robby8388 You did MFS today!? Wow that was fast. How was it? I received an MFS date of 25 March but I am deployed until next week so that makes sense

  12. I just finished MFS today so depending on training dates I may have my family with me. We are trying to figure everything it out now. Any RPA folks receive training dates or an assignment yet?

  14. It's not long before you'll no longer be able to critique someone in a debrief. A buddy of mine taught an early indoc class recently - At the end he asked if there were any questions on the content. No one spoke so he said, "Silence is consent" and excused the class. Three of the flight students reported his comment which has been used throughout my entire career.

  15. Well, as an AD major on the pilot bonus, I make $191k/year, and that's ignoring the tax advantage of BAH or any tax free months (though I'm also living in a high BAH area). At best, I'm an average officer, though you could make the case I'm below average since it took me 2 tries to make major. Is my salary/bonus justified? I get you don't seem to like Fauci, or at least disagree strongly with his advice. But he seems to be well respected within the medical community. He's also only an advisor on pandemic response-governor's can do what they want (ref Florida). What would you say he's worth being paid? An immunologist makes about $285k on average in the DC area accordingly to salary.com. How much extra should a doctor get paid if they also are in a senior leadership/managerial role?

  16. Ha. No. I dont have anything. My selection package is up at NGB. Should be approved by now, but havent gotten that fancy letter from them. NGB and the reserves probably do things different I'd imagine. Your package gets approved by NGB, you'll get a letter stating so, then you get to wait some more for OTS dates. You basically get put in the queue to receive them once your package is approved. Typically guard guys dont get UPT dates until part way through OTS.

  17. Hey thanks a lot! I'm Guard, and yes I enlisted and was gained by my unit well before dropping OTS dates. My timeline post is actually in this topic here.

  18. He is the top paid Federal Employee in the government and I have no idea why. Seriously, you could pay me half of what he makes, which would be half of $416,000, and I'll make stupid decisions and save the government money.

  19. The answer is "I'll be the FNG Lt and make corn if that's what you need, but I've also developed these leadership skills that I will be happy to use to make the squadron better."

  20. "Should Texas receive federal disaster aid if they don’t implement federal preparedness recommendations? " Where did you get that idea? Yes we have our own grid, but there are still thousands of pages of federal regulations our power plants must follow. None of which would have made a difference last week. Oh, and it is the Blue States, not Texas, that are begging DC to help them pay for their massive deficit spending caused by wildly overgenerous government employee benefits, corrupt bureaucracies, and crony capitalism. All while seeing their tax bases erode as productive private sector businesses and individuals flee their high taxes and crumbling schools and infrastructures.

  21. I'm brand new to the 777, and the F/O on this flight out of Denver was on both of my international IOE trips a while back. Absolutely stellar airline pilot and a good shit. I hope he gets the accolades he deserves.

  23. The sins are not even in the universe. Ted Cruz went on vacation during a snow and ice storm. As a senator not much he could do more than symbolic gestures. Optics bad, yes but he didn't kill anyone. Cuomo is DIRECTLY responsible for many deaths, withheld information from the Justice Department and lied about. Come on man. When dividing the "sides" of the media at least be relative and honest. On the conservative side of televised media you have one player FoxNews (although newsmax is growing an audience). On the liberal side is the VAST majority of CNN/MCNBC/CBS/ABC/NBC. It is David versus Goliath which is why Foxnews gets higher ratings than all of the left wingnut networks combined.

  24. You've got to be kidding me. Words do matter. This is a textbook example of hypocrisy. Cruz ridiculed California's energy planning and his state was equally unprepared. How many times it happened in one state versus another is immaterial. Even Cruz himself acknowledges this. I've listened very closely to Dan Crenshaw in particular as I think (thought) that he has the potential to be a great President. He focused on wind turbine icing as if it is an inevitable problem and a major factor in the grid collapse. Icing is easily addressed. In my view he's trying to score some easy, though inaccurate, points with his base. I encourage you to be objective rather than just reflexively supporting "your guy" as the first instinct. Politicians don't deserve blind loyalty. Hence why I'm an independent. Politicians have to earn every one of my votes.

  26. If that is on your radar, keep in mind that both the EC/EOS and CRW are at McGuire as well. That includes all of your air advisor, contingency response, AOC, and combat training positions, as well as the EC A-staff. Many of those positions are API-6/8 slots too. A good friend graduated ASAM a couple years ago and then rolled right into AMCTES (also at WRI) and is about to pin on O-5. Granted, the flying in those attached positions is essentially quarterly if you don't fly the -10 or -17, but it is an option as well. One aspect of ASAM that is not well known is that the EC commander (2 star) personally works your outplacement, in conjunction with the EOS commander (O-6). I know this is a bet on things aligning in the future, but you can and should be very frank with them on what is best for you and your family. Scott and Ramstein are the most common outplacements from ASAM, but with a DT co-chair directly working your follow-on, your probability of success is pretty high to get something else more in line with your hopes/desires.

  27. The fact that the lab rats are self selecting for a variety of roles in this grand experiment should make for excellent research results down the line...Not often that subjects will volunteer for a possibly fatal role in a great medical/sociological experiment like Covid.. The conclusions may very well save a lot of lives the next time.. We shall see....
