It seems like a lot of the perceived racial offenses of the 2020's are minorities confusing assholes with racists, and assuming white people aren't subjected to the same treatment by the aforementioned assholes.6 points

Not this specifically... but I've never walked away from a conversation about the Academy thinking, "man, I sure wish I'd gone there".4 points

No, the manning is terrible in 11R. I'm positive because I've asked 69 times to cross train and was told no due to manning. Also I asked to palace chase and was told no due to manning. There must be a mistake here?!?!! Or AFPC is just completely fucked.3 points

I’ve asked various commanders I’ve worked for why we don’t strat more than 15-20% unlike the Marines that strat everyone. Most say something along the lines of “the Air Force doesn’t care about you if you’re not in the top 15-20%. It’s just another method to discretely maintain an HPO system. I wish we would strat everyone 1-n, there should be no question on where an officer stands relative to their peers. But that would eliminate the cat string that causes officers to think that they still have a chance.2 points

Funny you mention that. As I'm reading this thread, I'm thinking to myself, slap a GNS430W into an original T-6 Texan and it would be a MUCH better platform to make good pilots than the Texan II. I had Mustang pilot tell me you needed about 50 hours in a Mustang before you flew the T-6. Controllable pitch prop, it does nothing for you, so you have to stay on your toes and it's will make you a heck of a stick and rudder pilot (T/O & Landing) in the process. But ya, a Super D would do...cheaper, just less cool. 😎 Same reason they can't pay me the correct flight pay, and haven't been able to since 2017 or 2018 (but don't worry, the fix will roll out Jan 2020). You can slap a WAAS capable GNS430 in to a beat-up old 172 and fly it down to 200 feet in every "burg & ville" in the U.S., and the AF can't even get their primary trainer to do it.2 points

There’s extremism in the military. It’s usually hidden due to obviously the punitive actions that could be dealt if displayed. I’m somewhat shocked at the amount of senior ranking people I know who come out as full-flagged racist once they retire.2 points

The Air Force does not value you as an individual...it is a numbers game and they just proved it. In two years when they are screaming about retention point back to this ACP offering while telling them to suck an egg.2 points

Totally agree! I’m just quoting what people have told me on why they fly the flag. I’ve actually seen rebel flags with “It’s Not Hate, it’s Heritage” and “Southern Pride” and “Sons of the Confederacy” and probably the most stupid, “The South Will Rise Again” stitched on to them. The only flag I fly and have ever flown is the flag of the United States!2 points

The ink on the revised, idiotic new UPT syllabus isn’t even dry and now CSAF says, “We may have pushed...a little too far.” Geebus, ya think? If only hundreds of IPs told them that ahead of time. For years.2 points

I have to admit I have been impressed by the Presidential press conferences and frank exchange of questions and answers between President Biden and the members of the press since taking office.1 point

Biden removed Dr Seuss from his speech. As reading Dr Seuss on this day is a long standing tradition, I'd say that's the ultimate cancel.1 point

Nobody got "cancelled", the estate elected to stop printing these books, none of which sell well, a couple of which have sold literally zero copies in the last few years. It's been useful at helping me cull the crybabies out of my Facebook feed though, most of whom love capitalism and free market right up until they want to signal made-up virtues when private entities make business decisions on their own. Also lots of overlap with the crowd who wanted to "cancel" (in their words) the NFL, Yeti Coolers, Delta Air Lines, etc. This shit is entertaining. I'm eager for them to start attacking Kidz Bob next for "cancelling" the offensive swear words out of modern pop songs.1 point

Knew not one but two dudes in the BUFF who would share videos on Facebook about how it was a mistake for South Africa to end apartheid. And at Dyess we have someone working at the sim building with QAnon decals on his or her car (also a Texas A&M car ornament, naturally). The crazies are out there. Edit: I swore I posted this in the Extremism in the Military thread... Must have gone full stupid or weird computer things are happening.1 point

This just circles back to the Wills, "win one for the gipper," FB post. Not hard to spot when you're being given the "you're not going to like this" speech....seen it plenty of times now. Dude would have gotten more respect if he'd have just said, sorry gents (can you still say that), you're not going to like the bonus, but we're stuck with what congress is giving us because they think the problem is fixed. Word! Mongo just pawn in game of life! BTW, your post just made me think of the defensive egg post. Talk about a flashback!1 point

Ah yes, the time honored, tried & true leadership method of one guys shits their pants and everyone wears diapers. A fan favorite amongst the AF...always has a positive impact!1 point

About a month ago I saw their Facebook post for the monthly newsletter. In the bottom left corner it talked about a board deadline of March 1st but only for members within the wing. I called the squadron to ask and they did confirm it’s only for 138th wing members or those who applied during the last board. They didn’t specifically say you had to already be selected for an interview though. At least I don’t recall him saying that. However if you didn’t apply for the last board (myself included) it seems like we are out of luck for this round unfortunately. Hope this helps!1 point

Seriously? It starts with a reading room in the library, it evolves into a CBT and culminates with a new policy requiring the same in every squadron. Slow erosion of common sense often goes unnoticed or unchallenged until you wake up in a dystopian world where the laws of physics no longer make sense.1 point

There are so many things I dislike about the Academy, but I can’t seem to summon any anger about this. It’s a reading room in the library. What am I missing?1 point

I've repeated this here and I'm probably wasting keystrokes, but the era of solely-liberal "mainstream media" is past. There are many established and new conservative-leaning outlets beyond Fox (much of talk radio, OAN, Newsmax, Blaze, NY Post, WSJ editorials, certain podcasts, etc, etc) Granted, they may not have the same collective viewership (yet) as the liberal outlets but they have the ability to deliver whatever narrative they want. That said, the two sides are so far apart there aren't any moderate news sources in the US. An important point because the media/political cabals are trying to get each of us to choose a side and stay in it. You're not "allowed" to be, for instance, pro-environment AND pro-2A. Or capitalist AND pro-Obamacare. It's kind of Orwellian how we are trained to be reflexively loyal to one political party or the other. End of conspiracy theory rant. BBC might be the least biased major outlet. Of course, bias is in the mind of the consumer. I'm sure there are folks on the extremes that consider Infowars or Mother Jones moderate.1 point

Continuation doesn't, but accepting it means any ADSC you have or incur remains (as long as the ADSC doesn't take you past the point your continuation ends), which may affect your exit if that's the path you want to take. Declining continuation overrides any ADSC to set the 6-month separation date1 point

Don't know him personally or professionally as I'm not in his district, hope he's an ok guy in person and will accept those testimonials about the many things he's done for service folk. Appreciate that. However, his constituents, the ones he's elected to represent seem to disagree with his stance rather strongly to include at least one county, I believe two but stand to be corrected, GOP committee censuring him for his vote to impeach Trump. The one county I am aware of is LaSalle County which is part of his district. Other county so censuring Iroquois which is also within this district. His choice to roll the dice to see if they either forget by next election or whether his district gets dissolved by the Illinois legislature as is likely if the state loses a congressional seat due to redistricting. I do take issue with his vote to strip the bat-sh1t crazy Georgia congresswoman of all her committee assignments. He helped deny her constituents their effective representation that they knowingly elected her to. As always in politics, IMO, it's a case of follow the money. His just started anti-Trump PAC combined with his many appearances on liberal media looks like a way to set up a comfy post-congressional lifestyle, either via K Street and/or TV gigs. Don't blame him a bit but it just strikes me as the B-model Scarborough. edited to add the specific counties which is in the district being discussed.-1 points
