Reading through this thread the only issue I can recall encountering was a pilot who was uber-religious and had some degrading views of women. He tried to stand on those grounds and on one occasion, refused to fly with a female co-pilot. I was a Major in the WIC and was flying as an attached guy so I wasn't included on all the actions they took but I know he continued to fly and with a female co-pilot. His career in our community basically ended at that point and they sent him off to AETC not long after (stunned by that choice). I honestly never saw overt racism, but obviously it exists in the hearts of some and it would be foolish and a disservice to pretend it does not exist to some extent. Shocked and saddened to hear this and some of the other stories on here. We may be the .1% who serve but there is still a normal bell curve distribution of issues and ideologies. I just hoped we were better.

Going through that process as I set up to receive my new airplane this fall. It will go into an LLC and I will lease it back to myself. I pay a monthly usage fee to the LLC which includes sales tax. I remit the sales tax to the state then the LLC will pay me back the remainder...right pocket to left pocket. This allows me to drag out the sales tax of $48K over many years instead of one giant check to the state. I think I can meet the 25% threshold for business usage which will also allow me to write off part of the cost and do some depreciation.

Even with GPS based procedures you still need TERPS.

If you haven't been to UPT, it doesn't really matter-getting good flight time in anything will help. Good as in don't be lazy, plan your flights, stay on desired headings/courses/altitudes, don't accept long/floating landings: basically, learn something or improve something every flight. Going from a military aircraft back to vacuum powered 6 pack would be slightly tougher when you're used to much better avionics, but many people make the transition back and forth regularly. I'm just not a fan of vacuum instruments, especially for IFR

Same here. And my dad had that talk with me. People act like the police talk is only a thing for minorities, but the same shit applies to everyone. Your police interactions will go far more smoothly if you at a minimum: mind your p's and q's and don't try to fight them. The number one way to reduce perceived police violence issues in this country is to teach people to not descend into hysterics the second you have to interact with a cop. And unfortunately exactly the opposite is being taught.

Don't know him personally or professionally as I'm not in his district, hope he's an ok guy in person and will accept those testimonials about the many things he's done for service folk. Appreciate that. However, his constituents, the ones he's elected to represent seem to disagree with his stance rather strongly to include at least one county, I believe two but stand to be corrected, GOP committee censuring him for his vote to impeach Trump. The one county I am aware of is LaSalle County which is part of his district. Other county so censuring Iroquois which is also within this district. His choice to roll the dice to see if they either forget by next election or whether his district gets dissolved by the Illinois legislature as is likely if the state loses a congressional seat due to redistricting. I do take issue with his vote to strip the bat-sh1t crazy Georgia congresswoman of all her committee assignments. He helped deny her constituents their effective representation that they knowingly elected her to. As always in politics, IMO, it's a case of follow the money. His just started anti-Trump PAC combined with his many appearances on liberal media looks like a way to set up a comfy post-congressional lifestyle, either via K Street and/or TV gigs. Don't blame him a bit but it just strikes me as the B-model Scarborough. edited to add the specific counties which is in the district being discussed.

Nobody got "cancelled", the estate elected to stop printing these books, none of which sell well, a couple of which have sold literally zero copies in the last few years. It's been useful at helping me cull the crybabies out of my Facebook feed though, most of whom love capitalism and free market right up until they want to signal made-up virtues when private entities make business decisions on their own. Also lots of overlap with the crowd who wanted to "cancel" (in their words) the NFL, Yeti Coolers, Delta Air Lines, etc. This shit is entertaining. I'm eager for them to start attacking Kidz Bob next for "cancelling" the offensive swear words out of modern pop songs.
