Pfizer #2 yesterday. No side effect other than a sore arm like #1 gave me. The 5G reception has improved though.3 points

MX is not for a person who is sensitive and needs time outs. To be successful you have find your own way of personal accomplishment. The guys who are good and the ones who make the schedule happen are treated like rented mules. The ones who get the recognition suck in mx but are allowed to do all the things that will make them perfumed E-9s. Just keep them away from the flight line so they don't screw us up. I don't envy a MX Sq CC, her senior enlisted leadership E-9's probably did not give her the support or loyalty needed to be successful. Since those E-9's are part of a culture of only looking out for themselves and were trying to become super E-9's instead of supporting the mission of the Sq. If I was the incoming SQCC I would clean house and made sure these guys had the EPR's to match being a POS. Seek out the guys always wearing coveralls, who's suede boots are black and have a talk with them. The B-1 is the most MX intense jet there is in the inventory, you need good mechanics not flashlight holders.2 points

CDC Director: 'Racism Is a Serious Public Health Threat' (yahoo.com) “What we know is this: racism is a serious public health threat that directly affects the well-being of millions of Americans. As a result, it affects the health of our entire nation. Racism is not just the discrimination against one group based on the color of their skin or their race or ethnicity, but the structural barriers that impact racial and ethnic groups differently to influence where a person lives, where they work, where their children play, and where they worship and gather in community." Is my thought that people should be responsible for their own well-being considered a "disease" by the CDC now? Maybe we should get the airlines and MLB to weigh in...1 point

If you’re asking if people will start to not seek out a 20+ year military career (ie retirement) because they don’t think it’s worth it...then I think the answer is obvious since we’re already seeing it firsthand. But I think it’s more important to see what military members, who joined since 2018, are going to do since they’re ineligible for the traditional 20 year pension. I also think a reason that many won’t want to stay in for 20 years is that younger generations of professionals change jobs much more often than my generation and older generations. I’m strictly speaking on commissioned officers, but I’m sure parallel arguments can be made for the enlisted side. And while the annual spending of our military is insane, I think it can be argued that the pension system isn’t a large part of that problem wrt the recent spending increases in the last 1-2 decades. When you figure in military spending compared to overall federal government spending since 2007/2008, the military pension becomes even much less of an issue. I think it will be one of the last items on the chopping block, and that the greater problem will just be an increase in overall spending, which will just further devalue your retirement.1 point

Military pay increases have been outpacing or matching inflation, so the hits if there are any will likely be elsewhere as long as public support remains high. In order of likelyhood: Japan can increase productivity through technological investment or increasing immigration, pursue policies that increase birth rates, print money and lower interest rates (at risk of hyperinflation), increase taxes (at the risk of slowing growth), screw over old people, or accept stagnation.1 point

Good to see we've learned our lesson in the last 10 years. How long until CSAF is testifying about a pilot shortage to Congress again?1 point

Got the J&J shot yesterday. Nothing crazy happened. Arm feels the same as getting a flu shot and no other response other than maybe a little extra tired last night.1 point

TDART involves earning a fair amount of pay on the mil side as well, as opposed to a single income stream for pure mil. Maybe it involves working more hours, maybe not... Depends on how hard you were working as an O-2. They floated the idea of a contract (really, a promise) to do TDART for five years if you got picked up for UPT, but that lasted about five minutes before they realized they couldn't legally enforce it.1 point

Yeah I'm referring to the PIT waivers. Not the soul cause of problems, just a contributing factor. Anyway my overarching point is HAF/A1 rarely makes decisions that make any sense. Whether 11Rs are offered a VSP or not, I'm certain we are all going to be left jaw dropped wondering "why?"1 point

Oh...well, usually when you quote someone and respond to their post, it has something to do with their post. But I guess doing the complete opposite would also make sense.1 point

I'm pretty sure what the nurse advice hotline said was right. Could also try calling United Concordia to confirm. https://www.tricare.mil/CoveredServices/Dental/ADDental/ADDP But the ER visit should generate the need/referral for emergency dental that you'd normally get from base dental to go off base.1 point

Far from a “follow the left, the world is all rainbows & unicorns”. To add some stance on some hot topics: I had zero ethical problems with building a border wall, just doubt it will work (they’ll just cut holes in it or tunnel under it). I don’t think anybody has the right to restrict a law abiding citizen from owning an AR-15. Tragic mass shooting deaths, are currently insignificant compared to the number of people getting taken out by drugs, alcohol, car accidents/texting & suicide. Are we gunna ban cellphones too? Yet it’s all CNN wants to talk about. And FOX news, with its “windmills kill birds, green energy is bad lets burn coal until we’re back in the stone ages”…please, GTFO of here. Whether its Fox or CNN I can smell horse sh*t 3 miles out. I am interested in understanding the divide more than anything else, especially on a forum where at least everybody is genuinely concerned about the country’s future. Does the disagreement really come down to just deciding between…do you take someone who is morally deficient but going to do good things policy wise (at least in w.e your respective opinion is) vs. someone who is a good dude at heart but may stumble policy wise? My logic: there is the system and there are policies the system makes. The policies change with the current political tide and can be undone just as easily as they can be done, depending on what the people want. But damage to the system itself is not easily undone. And as history shows, people who enjoy power…they usually want to grab more and more of it. Putin seems to be in love with it, as does Kim Jong-un. I don’t see Americans running to live in either of those places. Disregarding any policy, IMO when you objectively look at Trump…he exhibits the same attributes as somebody who would be at risk for abusing power. The glitz, the glamour, the ego, the compensating personality & bully persona. Hypothetically, you could have a King/dictator who is great at making policy. But as history shows, long term….rarely do those situations end well for the people in those places. If Trump isn’t that guy…he did a hell of a job making it look like he might be. Rile up the working class who are scraping by on groceries from Walmart while you gallivant around in a gold plated 757 = does not compute. So I stand to reason that Trump lost the election for himself. He either chose not to be professional, genuine, & presentable, or he is actually a D-bag and a threat to the system. And judging by how he reacted to his loss, it’s the latter. While any good competitor would be disappointed at a loss, successful & confident people don’t let losses slow them down in life and start whining. Those disappointed at his loss, should blame Trump himself for giving the election to a pretty weak democratic candidate (Biden, whose cheese may be sliding off his cracker). I for one think we should just starting throwing darts at a board of random people who graduate from idk the military academies, med schools, engineering schools or something, somewhere where people have proven they are intelligent, committed to helping others and are problem solvers. “Hey Tommy, real sorry man. The dart hit your name on the board. dean wants you in his office, your president for the next 4 years. Pack your shit”. “Only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it”-Plato1 point

No argument regarding Trump's character flaws, but what specific actions/attempted actions or policies that he ran while in office did you not like or agree with? The RINOs you think would make a better candidate is not something I can ever agree with or even consider. I'd vote Hillary over one of them. At least then, I know the opposition is on the outside of the wire and not inside. But to theorize that Biden was a "better candidate" is ludicrous. But Biden is the President*, so there's that. * for now1 point

To get a little bit back on track here, I finally decided to read the Georgia voter law from the actual government of Georgia website. Holy smokes the media, politicians, and even our sitting President have completely fabricated the outrage over this law. It’s frankly unbelievable the lies they’ve been able to spread on it. About the only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the increased powers of the state over what are usually county run election procedures. But beyond that, every single measure in there is perfectly reasonable to helping ensure legal voters are able to vote. The whole thing about the ID requirement is massively blown out of proportion. If someone doesn’t have an ID, they can can use last 4 of social, a utility bill, or several other items in order to validate themselves as a legal Georgia voter. And yes, grandma can still get water at the polls, it just can’t be handed out by someone who also says “here’s some water, but why don’t you vote for _____ today”. The worst part is that our own President got up there and called it worse than Jim Crow and wasn’t even remotely checked on that absolutely ludicrous statement.1 point

Every "conservative pundit"...big deal that insured the viewers of FoxNews and Rush heard the story. Meanwhile the rest of the mainstream suppressed it and made sure it was a back story with no details. I honestly don't know if this is as big as Watergate, but if the son of the next President of the United States is telling a foreign company owned and run by the Chinese government that he needs 10% for the big guy...holy shit we might want to look into it. I cannot disagree with you more on the Twitter suppressing the story not making a difference...I think it made a HUGE difference and when the results of the FBI investigation finally come out I think it will be very troublesome. I am not so out of touch as to think these blogs don't have power, but it wasn't the younger generation that swayed this election...it was the soccer mom's and the independents and they get their news from the mainstream media which 24/7 pushed a narrative of hate towards the Orange Man. I don't even like Trump...but as we are now reaping what the never-trumpers sowed...we are seeing real damage with both policy and action.1 point
