I highly, highly recommend everyone listen to episode 1671 of Joe Rogan's podcast with guests Bret Weinstein and Dr Pierre Kory. It's the closest thing that I've seen to an incontrovertible conspiracy theory play out in real life. Summary: Critical information on the benefits and efficacy of the drug Ivermectin for treating Covid has been suppressed by media outlets, tech companies, the pharmaceutical industry, and the government for almost a year now. It's possible that Covid could have been close to completely eradicated within six months using this ultra-inexpensive, ultra-effective treatment.4 points

They can talk about whatever useless nonsense they want in sociology classes.. perfectly fine by me. That degree already isnt worth the paper it's written on so CRT conversations certainly aren't going to change that. But with CRT itself I don't think we need to wait at all. Despite entering the mainstream very recently it's been around for decades and is basically Marxist class struggles repackaged in terms of race. The gist is that any outcome differential between racial groups along any metric imaginable can be chalked up to a racist system. The part they don't want you to know is that since differentials between groups have and always will exist, "the work" needed to alleviate "systemic racism" will never be complete. And If you disagree with the assertion that all of the systems are racist, that's because you're a beneficiary of those systems which only increases your need for remediation. If the goal is to permanently cast oneself as the victim, it's basically a perfect ideology.3 points

I think senior generals are heavily influenced by the whims of the administration. It is also possible that he's busy, doesn't have the bandwidth to fully look into this stuff, and does not realize now nefarious the content he's quasi-endorsing truly is.3 points

Agreed on Ingram and gaetz. But hugely object to putting CRT trash like that on the reading list just to be "well read." I noticed that Marx, Lenin, etc.. aren't on there. Which is a good thing because those are bad ideas and antithetical to fundamental American principles. We should know what CRT is, but only for purposes of debunking it. Featuring critical race theory on the chiefs reading list is a de-facto endorsement, and I would bet the good general was "strongly encouraged" to include those titles by administration officials who have a vested interest in this ideology that goes much deeper than being "well-read" and "understanding the American people"3 points

FWIW, I got a “fix it” email from United with an availability 2.5 years in the future...3 points

Yeah BS, we have 40+ copilots and less than 5 Instructors. I wouldn’t expect a nonner bean counter at AFPC to know the difference though.3 points

As it should be. We should absolutely reap the benefits of our success in dramatically reducing the numbers of sick and dying of coronavirus. Doesn’t mean pawnman is wrong though. Vaccination is not a purely transactional “how does it affect me” issue. Yes, a vaccine will be effective at preventing negative effects for an individual. But the real effectiveness lies in vaccines’ benefits to society as a whole. Vaccinate enough people and the disease can be almost entirely suppressed. I don’t think anyone should be forced into vaccination in a free society, but I encourage everyone I know to get it just for the simple fact that I don’t want to experience any more lockdowns or public health measures that negatively affect my quality of life.2 points

Do you really believe a four star who has given his entire adult life to service of our free market, democratic way of life is somehow secretly endorsing, or has been forced to endorse Marxist socialism? I’ll be the first to agree that general officers can be out of touch and tainted by politics, but this point of view strikes me as a bit much.1 point

Fannie and Freddie are limiting their second home and investment property exposure to 7% of their portfolio which has pushed rates up/pricing down in the secondary market. Some investors still have great pricing because they weren’t overexposed so it’s definitely something you need to shop around for when you go to lock. Since we have multiple investors we shop around for you behind the scenes so we can always offer the best pricing. Careful of lending tree because their cut is built into the lender’s rates/fees. You want to go direct as much as possible to avoid hidden costs. I can’t give you generalized second home rates without know the specific numbers/transaction details. Feel free to reach out and I’ll give you the best advice I can. Jon1 point

I can only go by what has been published (regarding continued effectiveness), and by anecdotal evidence from my physician. I guess that leave me in a wait and see. Aren't boosters being talked about, but nothing conclusive have been decided? I think that's tied in with the accursed "delta" variant - will it arrive, and from where, and to whom?1 point

If you're worried about covid, get the vaccine then you should be fine - Right? Why do I have to get it if I'm not concerned? What if someone has already had covid? Should they be required to get the vaccine?1 point

No, most vaccines take about a decade to get approval. In addition, only about 6% of vaccines ever get approval. We just approved four in literally months. Hard pass for me dude, but I also eat well and work out often. It's easy for those who have not taken care of themselves for decades and who are at risk to ask others to sacrifice for the benefit of those who are at risk. Tough.1 point

“Hearts exploding” might be a bit of hyperbole, but I’d challenge anyone to refute what tac airlifter said.1 point

A big part of it is getting told how valuable you are, how necessary to the force, how you are vital to national defense...then getting passed over. The passing over shows you what the Air Force values, and it's not whatever you've been doing for the last 15+ years. So if you've even a little on the fence, it's an added incentive to join an organization that DOES value what you do, and shows it through your pay and seniority numbers (the airlines) instead of staying in an organization that claims to value you but acts as if it does not. The extra pay is nice, though. For me, due to my ADSC for the bonus, it'll translate into an extra ~$800/month in retirement, or just shy of ~$10K a year, vs retiring as a major.1 point

You mean other than the shooting, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln? Signed, TAMI/BRAC'05 YG casualties. Jest aside, congrats.1 point

Does anyone that just wants to fly the line really care about the rank, or just the extra pay that comes with the (Lt Col) rank? Better flight pay or bonus options could make up the pay difference, and that's where the focus should be, particularly since the number of O-5s the AF can have is limited. Though I guess the problem is that the AF isn't going to increase pilot pay (through flight pay or a pro pay), and the bonus has gotten worse and probably will continue on that path. Especially since 11M are now "100% manned" and 11Rs are "overmanned"...1 point

Just got a call from them, sounds like they should be calling everyone this afternoon/evening.1 point

Maybe this will work for the rest of the AF, but for pilots that have a lucrative job without the BS just waiting for them, delaying promotion isn’t going to help retention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Boys, if you get hired somewhere, keep all your other apps on file and updated for at least a year. With the amount of movement going on right now, you'll probably be able to switch companies with minimal loss in seniority and be able to end up somewhere with a domicile that works better for you.1 point

Are they planning to release the stats broken down by the actual categories? LAF - A (Air Ops and Special Warfare) LAF - C (Combat Support) LAF - F (Force Modernization) LAF - I (Information Warfare) LAF - N (Nuclear and Missile Ops) LAF - S (Space Operations...or is this going away with the Space Force?) I continue to be shocked and dismayed by folks who bust their ass, get a DP, and then get passed over. At that point...why bother even giving the senior rater DPs to hand out? Just send all the records. No point in the PRF if the board isn't going to listen.1 point

Been a year since we lost Kage. I didn't chime in last June due to being directly involved in the search operations and felt it wasn't right to talk about it then. That said, it was a long day for all involved with some really terrible weather down low. My aircrew and STS PJs performed admirably and we had some great support from some UK standby support vessels from the oil industry. Unlike the AIB mentioned, American aircrews found him, not the Royal Navy (they were not even there, so not a dig on them). I am glad we were able to help give closure to his wife, family, and squadron mates. To Kage, Nickle on the grass.1 point

One day we will pull our heads out and do proper risk assessment on COVID. One day…until then let the FEAR run wild1 point

Uh sir you're going to expire within 2 months of returning from deployment, you have reaccomplish that cbt Oh really, show me the reg... Well it's just "guidance." Copy...not doing it.1 point

One could make the argument that getting the vaccine and hurting ones immune system to fight the virus naturally in the future and require booster shots actually increases the size of the reservoir in which the virus can hide as compared to someone with naturally built immunities. The body is a wonderfully designed thing.0 points

Now thar so much more is coming out, it’s clear this entire thing was the bullshit many of us suspected from the start. A Chinese bio weapon escaped from a lab funded by the very people insisting it wasn’t. Masks were just a distraction to avoid this fact, and the doctors forcing masks compliance knew they were useless. Medically valid and effective treatments ignored and derided to push experimental vaccines. Those vaccines now mandated for college students in little danger from C19, but the vaccines are making their hearts explode. Medical doctors censored and banned from media for pointing to evidence. Have all the “conspiracies” come true or only most? 3 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed anything this insane and dystopian could rapidly grip America. I was totally wrong. We are living in scary and unpredictable times.0 points

I’m an 11M. I applied for a ADSC waiver to retire (prior-E)-Denied. Non-select for O-5, tasked with 6-month COVID deployment handing out vaccination information sheets.0 points
