  1. Logically I know you’re right. But emotionally, after 10 deployments there, I want to stay and smash every enemy forever. I felt similarly watching the first departure from Balad after 5 trips there. Alcohol with bros will be how many of us cope having spent years of our life doing something that sporadically felt necessary but mostly filled me with anger at endless tactical success but no victory. All while my kids grew up and I stupidly went back. In the end I chose how to spend my time and have no one to blame for my decisions but me. However I will never forgive or respect senior leaders who could not win. Why should any of us believe any of them about the “big shift” and GPC when they’ve lost this one? probably time to wear my veteran hat and move into a camper near the base pharmacy… 🥃 🇺🇸⚔️

  2. Just keep a bare bones HUMINT structure on the ground, bomb a training camp into mist every 6-9 months.

  3. Crenshaw has teamed up with him as well. While it is surely political posturing by Cotton, it is a nice display of checks and balances. CRT has no place in our military. Basic treating all people with respect might do.

  4. Multiplying by Zero was published in 2011, and it’s still the best summary of the futility of AFG ops. https:// https://www.armyupress.army.mil/Portals/7/military-review/Archives/English/MilitaryReview_20110228_art014.pdf

  5. Agreed, it doesn't belong. But I doubt Crenshaw or Cotton could accurately describe what CRT actually is. And it isn't in our military, or K-12 curriculum anywhere. This is a culture war Boogeyman with as much factual basis behind it as razor blades in Halloween candy, or the "War on Christmas." Media personalities everywhere are giving airtime to politicians trying to build capital based on CRT fear.

  6. And ten years later, what the article said has finally dawned on the "elites". FFS.

  7. Having deployed there a few times my only emotion is elation. It was long past due to GTFO and stop spending our national treasure in that place.

  10. We rail against the AF for not giving us $100k a year bonuses but as you know they are restricted by what Congress authorizes. I remember a certain senator from Arizona had a big say in that. 🤷‍♂️ What I do think is totally f’d up, beyond belief, is that the AF doesn’t max out the bonus for every pilot to the $35k allowed. It’d be pennies on the dollar in their annual budget.

  11. LOL, that would be an absolutely terrible move. With stop loss, you're likely to get a pulse that shows up to work, and in the case of part-timers, who will participate much less. You (the gov) got yourself into the fuck mess, don't drag me down with your bullshit bandaid.

  12. Pretty unreal what is happening in this country these days. Also saw on the local news here in SoCal the other day that a boat of people trying enter the country illegally had Chinese nationals on it. Who the hell knows what’s coming through our border now as a consequence of this administration’s sick plan to import demographic change in order to win elections and solidify power.

  13. Everything everyone said above. Also, know that some of the best flying to be had in the Air Force these days is flying the line in a UPT squadron. You will never fly more with less prep work than you do there, and you will hone your airmanship and competence in the airframe to an extreme degree. And yes it's very nice to basically check all of the boxes for your airline application in your very first assignment. One downside: if you are a guy who has their heart set on weapons school, know that you have a huge game of catch-up ahead of you. When you eventually get to your MWS you will be well behind your peers in tactical knowledge and the time window to apply will be rapidly closing as you will be a mid level captain at that point. Definitely seen it done, just know that the window of opportunity is small, and closes quickly.

  14. Yep. I live in the DFW metroplex. I see it all the time. Libs have ruined literally everything they’ve touched. Please don’t California my Texas.
