  4. Don't post here much but felt the need to now. Your question is a grim one. The response to all that has occured will be, in my opinion, major combat operations again in Afghanistan. The stench of this calamity, is to great for US Citizens, our Allies and even CNN/Reuters. You can't leave +15K US citizens behind enemy lines. No amount of State Dept cajoling is going to free them and the Taliban is not going to let them go. The idea this is a non-combatant situation is about as truthful as the Stephanopoulos interview. The open source reports just get worse and worse. Outright evil/insanity is ongoing against who the enemy desires outside the wire. We are in a tremendous bind. +15k US citizens are now held by a terrorist organization. We can't strong arm our way out. We can't bluff our way out either, as the threat of harming them isn't going to work. Diplomacy will not work. This is going to be an all out street fight by the 82nd Airborne, 10th Mountain and 24th MEU to save US citizens and restore order to the baddest neck of this here globe.

  5. I found another one that should resign! If this information is true (never can tell these days) then the CG of the 82nd Airborne Division should apologize to America and resign. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/us-general-tells-british-special-forces-stop-rescuing-people-in-kabul-youre-making-us-look-bad From the article: "...the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division has told the commander of the British special forces at the Kabul airport to cease operations beyond the airport perimeter." "...the British officer firmly rejected the request." God save the Queen!

  14. This - "they" will come up with something else to distract the public and squelch the conversation using their damn near monopoly on the modern communication platforms. Shadow bans, stealth edits, blocking, deplatforming, etc... Biden quits, Harris takes over after the worst parts of Op Cluster Fornication are over and going into the mid-terms she and them run on supporting the first female president. That's why she's gone radio silent, if you don't really do anything during a shit storm you'll get less on you, let the old man get battered then come in when his usefulness as a pinata is complete. How many think that in a year this will be an issue? The neo liberal/conservative globalist movement is not letting something like utter failure after failure deter the project.

  16. Reports of 10-15k Americans in Afghanistan, though a few thousand have been evacuated already. It's likely we'll need to put troops back on the ground to secure the airfield, or maybe even go outside the airfield to recover Americans who cannot make it to the airport, which will increase the number of Americans that will need to be pulled out, plus whatever equipment they bring in/out. There's also aiding our NATO allies with pulling out their citizens (unless we just don't care about our NATO allies anymore, who again, are there because we forced them to participate). All of that is on top of any refugees we want to pull out. Activating the CRAF means CENTCOM and TRANSCOM screwed the pooch planning the withdrawal, since there's no reason contact airlift couldn't have been scheduled as part of the pullout plan. State might share some blame for not having their transportation requirements communicated to CENTCOM. Same goes for not having mass pax staging areas identified and at least in the process of being prepped when we kicked off the evacuation. I'm not surprised though, seeing how transportation requirements were planned, and the friction between military and DoS. But yeah, we'll likely need to use the CRAF because we're so far behind and are in reactionary mode, and COCOMs don't like to share resources. Flexibility is the key to airpower, especially when you can't plan worth a crap.

  18. In addition to the IBU function, two features exist that help de-conflict the signals. First it implements a pseudorandom hopping pattern to prevent interference when you are within close proximity to other test subjects. Second, as the anti-bodies grow your body will emit a stronger signal which can saturate the spectrum. To mitigate this a Kalman Filter is used to enhance location accuracy. However as more people receive the chips, the frequency range will become over subscribed and data capacity will be reduced. Curious to see how they resolve this once it becomes an issue.

  22. Anyone else see the irony of Kamala leaving for Vietnam today? Is she going to Saigon to bring back some DLOs on that evac so we can do better in Afghanistan? The optics are simply surreal.

  23. Nah. About 18 months ago I volunteered for a DoD pilot project to test body internal biometric dog tags/body location trackers. They surgically implanted 2 chips in me (primary and a backup). One of the nice things about the chips is they have an IBU function that deadens/CNXs other outside signals during uplink/downlink. I have no proof that that’s helping with the conflicting signals from the COVID vaccinations but that’s what I’m going with as a working hypothesis for now.

  29. Pic stolen from another thread… The Air Force isn’t a bunch of 4 stars in the pentagon. It’s not some politically appointed civilian SecAf and it’s not Curtis LeMay rolling in his grave. If there’s one thing I learned during my time in the AF it’s that Airmen, NCOs, and CGOs are the really important people who make the whole thing work. The Air Force is you guys and you guys do some really good shit every day. I’m proud of all of you and even more proud to have served with many of you.

  32. Agreed, only to add that cash is a party of diversifying. We've gotten so used to the concept that stocks are the only place where your money can make money, because fed policy for the past 15 years has basically made that the truth, barring real estate. How does the phrase go? Bulls get rich, bears get rich, but hogs get slaughtered. There's just too much that doesn't add up, and it looks like inflation is going to be what brings the whole silly plan down. Consider: - higher than expected unemployment, yet 10 million unfilled jobs - crippling supply chain issues *still* hitting nearly every industry. Does anyone think it's good for the economy that you can't buy new cars thanks to the chip shortage? - all of the growth estimates have been off in the wrong direction, and this is after a pandemic set the bar very low. And now China's growth is also slowing. - the government is literally injecting $120 *billion* per*month* into bonds and mortgage backed securities. - inflation... The great destroyer. Right now the cost of margin trading is between 4 and 6% depending on how much money you have in the account. That's with interest rates effectively set at zero by the fed. If inflation continues, and you know it's going to because the Fed is now admitting that it's happening and they wouldn't do that if there was any hope that it wasn't, the cost of all of that leverage is going to go up. Fine and well as long as the stock market keeps delivering these eye-watering games that we seem to have completely acclimated to, but if the FED has to admit that inflation is now a concern, how long do you think they'll be able to keep injecting 120 billion per month into the market? What happens when the biggest support for market prices gets removed, at the exact same time that the cost of leveraging goes up? I was talking to someone who expects a 50% reduction in the s&p 500. It sounds crazy, until you look at the chart and realize that a 50% drop would only bring us down to 2016 levels. Is it really hard to imagine the market, after enduring a global pandemic that continues to cripple the economies of entire countries, would go back to a level it was at only 5 years ago? I'm not advocating for selling everything and sitting on a pile of cash, but if you're not going to take profits after the most incredible run up in prices under the most unlikely conditions, then you're never going to take profits at all. So many people who are euphoric over the stock markets last five or six years don't seem to have stopped to consider exactly what the implications are if this really is the New Normal. Now is a really good time for people to look at their bank accounts and make sure they are complying with the common sense financial security measures that no one talks about anymore. Do you have 6 months of expenses in a savings account, ready for an emergency? If you lose your primary income source at the same time that the market takes a giant hit, are you going to be in a pinch? Do you have a mortgage that you can only afford if there's no change to your employment status? The biggest losers in any crash are always the retail investors. Always. Meme stocks and cryptocurrency have the institutional investors on edge. Sure they'll get on CNBC and tell you how they're buying Bitcoin, but they're surprisingly quiet when they sell after all the retail investors follow their lead and buy something they don't understand. And of course I could be wrong, I probably am. But my family and friends who have everything in the market right now I'll admit that none of this makes any sense. And when I ask them when, if not now, is their trigger to take profits, they have no answer.

  33. If you needed 20 years to figure out that you could hit an asshole riding on a dirtbike without taking down a building by firing a laser guided rocket from a high-end fighter…sure… but we used 20 years times 36-69 constant caps of our high end assets on the range that are now tired and have no service life left with no viable replacement. 34. So the VA reaching out to veterans who may be distressed over current events is a joke to you? If you’ve been around for a while, I’d be willing to bet you’ve lost at least one or two squadron mates to suicide. If you’re new and you haven’t, steel yourself because you very likely will. Personally, I’ve seen my fair share, including a couple of friends for whom I never would’ve thought that would be an option. I’m all for ANYONE who reaches out & promotes veterans’ mental health.

  37. Previous admin set the deadline of 1 May I believe, so even being there today is an extension of several months on top of that. I’m theory we wanted to keep the embassy open and etc. but if the entire Ghani government and all allied militias just give up the fight well then that obviously changes the plan. I’m sure the evac planning for all western nations didn’t include the entire ANA/ANP/Ghani government collapsing in 96 hours and the Taliban conquering territory at the speed of a Hilux. Enemy gets a vote unfortunately. It’s still a god damned mess and I can only imagine the heroism of the airlift crews making runs to Kabul right now as well as the army folks & SOF going in to help secure the exfil. Hopefully we can continue to hold the airport, get military ATC up and running and start a reverse Berlin airlift out for anyone who wants to go. Plenty of blame to go around, starting in about 2003, and I’m very hesitant to cast the first stone after spending significant time there myself and buying in to what we were trying to accomplish. I said it before and I’ll say it again: the best time to leave was 15 years ago and the second best time is right now.

  38. I’ve always enjoyed making jokes about C-17s landing at wrong airports, or not putting their gear down. But the fact that a crew took off with 800 passengers, and I heard others did that same with numbers in the 600’s is truly heroic stuff. You are all a credit to America, and the USAF, your actions represent the best of us. I can’t even begin to imagine the chaos, and literal life and death decisions you were forced to make. Thank you, and well done! But that doesn’t begin to describe the accolades you deserve. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  39. The market will go down at some point. The question is more how deep and how long? (Sts) For retirement savings a 10-20% dip for a year or two should be recoverable. If you get a decade of negative returns, that will hurt people's plans a lot. If you are about to retire, it may be a good idea to have a couple years worth of money in super low risk savings/funds. That way, you don't have to sell at a loss during a temporary crash.

  40. I’ll bite. Agree the situation has been handled poorly. I seriously doubt the Trump admin would’ve done any better (I’m sure many here will disagree). The pentagon attempted to slow roll Trump when he decided on a complete withdrawal & they used the same strategy with Biden. When he insisted (as Trump in all likelihood would have as well), senior military leadership was obviously ill prepared to carry out the order. Pandemonium has ensued. The only likely difference is that CJCS would likely have been fired by now under Trump which is a move I didn’t support at first, but I have to admit it’s not a good look for the Biden admin to continue this debacle without demanding accountability from the Pentagon.
