It is heartbreaking. I have friends on the ground that are DESPERATELY trying to get their former Terps and other Afghan allies out. I wish I could share more, heroic measures being taken to try and save the men who fought with us and their families.9 points

It is likely NOT the Taliban. Despite Joe's lies, ISIS is alive and well in Afghanistan. Most likely it is ISIS-K (a sworn enemy of the Taliban), taking advantage of the situation to cause chaos.5 points

Well when your target isn’t where they’re supposed to be in the ATO, they aren’t talking on the appropriate frequencies, the AWACS doesn’t give any help and even negative help, and are flying directly in an area where you’ve been told to kill helos that are killing your allies, it’s not just on the Eagles. Yes, they ultimately pulled the trigger and are therefore responsible, but blaming them solely is completely unfair. Tragic event that produced lessons for a myriad of communities. And if you think something like that couldn’t happen to you and your community, you’re completely out to lunch.5 points

Maybe this will be Biden's "red line..." Either way, what a fucking mess that is just going to get worse in the coming days. Good job and back slaps all around the table for our leaders. We all know there is no possible way they could have foreseen something like this happening. But wait, they knew of this was a possibility and planned for such a scenario. That plan will surface any day now...4 points

It’s entirely on the Eagles. From their fucked up VID forward. Had their been no VID, then maybe include everyone else. Once they went in for the one ID that trumps all others, and fucked it up in both how they did it and and what they came up with, then it became squarely on them. No excuses. At that moment, the other factors just became chaff to try and shift away from the true fault. The even bigger issue was the salivation to kill two helos that are tooling around in trail doing nothing, no hostile acts, just flying around; even if they were Hinds. Had the desire to kill them instantly, now, been tempered just a bit considering their doing nothing besides flying, there may have been another chance to figure out that they are actually friendlies. The Eagles saw what they wanted to see, and killed what they were dying to kill. And some O-3 taking a nap in an AWACS, would’ve made zero difference at that point.4 points

The stirrer tends to create two big heaps of jalapeños at the ends, so best to leave it off. However, in most machines there's a slight tilt in the cooker so there's more oil on the one side. Pro tip to run the stirrer for 180º rotation every 69 seconds to swap the uphill and downhill peños, and then spread evenly to break the mounds.3 points

Give it a few weeks and some of the stories will percolate down. #Dunkirk was the grassroots movement to originally get SOF terps out. Over the week it grew into a massive military/veteran led effort to take the turd that was this withdrawal and save it as much as possible. Some of these stories havent spread widely yet because the entire DoD and DoS are in reaction mode and cant even focus on the micro events that happened around this macro event. But it was quite incredible the massive feed of intel a group of random people with military backgrounds was able to generate and validate open source and disseminate in a best effort to get as many people that deserve to be out as possible.3 points

As usual, what should have been a straight forward memo leaves most readers with several questions. Namely and most obviously is regarding boosters. My understanding is that 3rd shots are still under EUA. ….not the actual shot itself, which is the same as original, but the regimen of getting a 3rd after 8 months. Many folks got their shots in Jan/Feb/Mar. Is the military going to consider us “unvaccinated” come Sep/Oct/Nov? (I for one will refuse a booster for as long as it’s my choice. I played along and got the initial two, but I’m not going to keep playing this game and being a pin cushion when I personally have no fear of Rona and still have to wear a mask regardless. Fool me once….)3 points

Being serious for a minute: we need to file an FOIA request on the performance evaluations of every GO tied to CENTCOM and the draw down next year. Because I swear to go if I see some bull shit like "Hacho'd largest strat airlift op since Berlin--Saved 70K US Cit" I'm going to fucking throw a fit. Not a single person above the rank of Lt Col should be considering this operation a success.3 points

Star wearing officers granted specific immunity to the 15 flight lead, specifically so that he could testify against the guy who didn’t have a missile or the ability to launch one at a friendly aircraft. That’s a pretty glaringly visible attempt at protection of the favored sons at the cost of your red headed step child. That incident exposed a whole list or problems across the entire theatre and joint ATO process well beyond the station in that AWACS. The theatre took no efforts to integrate the Army into the ATO, and knew for nearly 2 full years they were in that arena not squawking modes and codes for any number of reasons… I mean make a list… and we did… and fixed a lot of it quietly off scene End of the day though you own that bullet. It’s right there with LtCol Hayles in the Apache or Papov running on the Brits. If the pilot that actually has ordnance on their aircraft goes into an engagement seeking to employ and looking specifically for reasons to allow themselves to do it, it will get around the failure prone mission control elements put in place to protect from fratricide. That’s one way to look at it. If you are peddling the jab. the jab wears off. It’s meant to keep you on the Pfizer tit. Here immunity would be best had by everyone gaining natural immunity. But now, instead, we have vaccinated people running around with minimal symptoms but still able to spread the virus. Trojan horse!!2 points

Feb 4, 2021 - President Joe Biden Speech: "And so — so is the message I want the world to hear today: America is back. America is back." I think that’s a pipe dream for republicans. But…..2024 isn’t that far away. I count myself as a moderate Democrat who isn’t necessarily opposed to voting R. So who’s gonna run? Trump? Sorry, but that’s as much a no-go for the left as Hillary was for the right. Desantis? Same shit, slightly diluted. Put up a sane, rational, non-octogenarian and you might find a lot of Americans are game.2 points

Does no one else think it's insane this gene therapy is being pushed so hard? Feels creepy. It's never been done before (mRNA vaccine) but researched for at least a decade. But now it's good? 34 deaths out of 222k cases is what I'm tracking for the military (5). If I do the very rough math as an 11F, getting COVID is about the same mortality risk as flying 100 fighter hours. (1 is public, but your safety office has the same data if you're interested for your MWS) No one has any idea what the risk is of the mRNA gene therapy. I mean if I drink alcohol or smoke cigars I know there is a risk with that and alcohol and tobacco have been around along enough that people have been able to figure that out. Same with riding a motorcycle or flying jets. Those stats exist. I remember when I was in high school the human genome was finally sequenced and academics thought it was going to be a boon for medicine. And here we are 20 years or so later and we really don't know how it works. BUT we can manipulate it a little and get a first order effect. Progress. In the 20th century radium powered glow in the dark watches and then factory workers died of cancer. I'm not saying that this is that. But I am saying that no one knows that it isn't that. Like if it takes a year off your life should you take it? Five years? Ten? What's the metric? If my odds of dying of COVID are 1:1000 and I think I'll live to 80 I should take it if (statistically) I think it's going to take leas than a month off my life. That's like zero biological long term impact. I hope that's the case btw for everyone who's gotten it. As far as the transmission aspect. A study in the Lancet (2) set the reduction in risk from getting COVID from .8% with the Pfizer shots (worst) to 1.3% Astra Zenica (best). This doesn't address the mortality, just the transmission. But those numbers are terrible. My main issue is that there is no long term data set on mRNA gene therapy. There will be in 10 or 20 years but there isn't now. And this isn't something I am willing to bet my personal health on. And this is for a disease that has a 99.9X survival rate for me? Something that studies have shown that if you've had it, the vaccine provides no statistically relevant benefit (Pfizer study - still tracking down link but reference 3 for now, same conclusion). A disease that natural immunity provides longer and 6-7x more immunity than the vaccine (Israel study - 3) The drug companies are making BILLIONS and good for them, but the for sure have their lobbyists and what is in Pfizer's best interest is not NECESSARILY in my best interest. If this is so safe, why are they IMMUNE from liability under federal law? Now that it's "FDA approved" do you really think that will change? (6) I like to read a lot and from what I've read about risk (Nassim Taleb anyone? "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence") getting these shots seems to be a lot like investing in something with a very small probable very large return (not dying from COVID) but can absolutely blow up (you dying much younger). Why are medical doctors and PHDs being silenced on social media? Is it for public health? Would we want to hear all professional opinions of people who spend their whole lives studying these subjects? It's been a frustrating year for the whole world and thankfully I live in America and not Australia where COVID has transformed them into a totalitarian society. Negative GR: The results suggested that immunity from getting the virus and still being unvaccinated is a lot better than never having been infected and getting two pfizer shots. If your first exposure to virus immunity was 6-9 months ago (real virus or vaccine), you're 13x more likely to get infected by the Delta variant if you had the two shots and never had the virus. And more likely to develop covid in that group. If you had the virus any time in the past 16-19 months and you're unvaccinated, your immunity is not as strong anymore but you'd still be 6x less likely to get infected again and 7x less likely to develop covid than if you had the two shots (in the past 6-9 months) and never had the virus. And less likely to be hospitalized. And without statistical significance, they think that having had the virus followed by a single shot gives slightly better immunity than the natural one from prior infection. Again, much better than never having been infected and getting the two shots. No data on third shot immunity yet. So, for those who had the virus and didn't get the vaccine, you might be in a great position right now. Biologically speaking, at least...1 point

In the interest of thread creep, same. I said my peace, he said his peace. All good. As the clock ticks down on Kabul, I’m not seeing many options getting out of this cleanly, and I don’t trust the Taliban not to do something stupid, just because of the easy opportunity to do so sitting right in front of them within sight. Even if it’s action taken un-sanctioned by rogue Taliban elements wanting revenge or any easy kill.1 point

Not really…vaccinated spread the virus at nearly the same rate as unvaccinated (CDC/John Hopkins). This vaccine started at “97% keeps you from getting the virus” to “well it’s more like 40%…me scuzie, but your symptoms will be reduced!” That’s not to say the vaccine is a bad idea for many people, but it’s incorrect to blanket say people should get it to “help others.” I acknowledge that elderly and those who are unhealthy getting vaccinated will contribute to less ICU beds, and that does help others indirectly. But this generalized statement is misapplied to the low-risk demographics.1 point

Here is what gets me. The Trump supporters were so proud and quick to tout him for operation Warp Speed...he actually got the vaccine done in record time. Now that Biden is in power and asking people to get vaccinated the same Trump supporters think the vaccine is the equivalent to getting a chip implanted in their brain. Even though there is case law that supports mandatory vaccines for all (Jacobson v. Massachusetts), I am all about free will and choice. There is a difference for the military...Ironically taking that oath to serve and protect the Constitution gave up all sorts of Constitutional rights. If the vaccine is legally approved there is little resistance ground to stand on. I think there most certainly should be further discussion and research on those who have already had COVID. Having had a nasty fight with COVID....vaccinated or non-vaccinated, I hope you don't get it.1 point

Guys, I can't prove this 100% via science (but who listens to those nerds anyhow); I think that 4th COVID injection I got a couple days ago increased my girth! So this morning I was getting in a quick pre-simulator jack and something just felt different. Fuller. More Bigger. Meatier. I'm about a solid 5/16" around on a good day but this morning things were really on the up and up. I've been maintaining my pretty standard diet of 1600 ounces of red meat/uncured bacon a week and nothing but pure unfiltered rainwater, or grain alcohol for fluids so I know its not diet related. Haven't changed my laundry detergent in awhile so I know its not that either. Anywho, things were moving along in a pretty standard ops fashion when right as I was about to climax the woman who's three doors down from me in billeting (and who unbeknowst to me was silently watching from the bushes next to the window) yells out "oh what a lovely tea party" (I think she's got a head full of sick thoughts). Normally this would've been a complete turnoff for me but she's a ginger who looks like she can squat a good 300lbs so this really sent me to the next level. In the immediate aftermath, you know, in the time where you're usually sitting there silently judging yourself for what you just did or watched, I thought, the world needs to know if its true. And things like this just don't get the right coverage in the MSM anymore. So I grabbed the tape measure I got for free from the FAC when they stopped doing abdominal circumference measurements on the PT tests (would've been a waste to have them throw it out) and quickly wrapped it around my still engorged member. Admittedly, it was a little difficult to read given that my vision was blurry from lack of O2 due to the belt still wrapped around my neck (always phenomenal to win the world's greatest race on a Monday right?) but I'm about 90% positive that it read a solid 0.5", or a total gain of 3/16" for all you public school grads out there. I'll continue to provide updates here as I do more home "experimentation" but if anybody's still on the fence about this vaccine, after my morning all I can ask is what are you waiting for?1 point
-
Don't waste your time, this dude has proved time and time again that appeals to basic facts, statistics, and reason simply don't work on him. The vaccine is a global conspiracy pushed by a cabal of upper crust liberals, and he and newsmax bimbo Emerald Robinson are the only ones who know the truth. After trump is reinstated as president from the election that was STOLEN from him, all will be revealed.1 point

I'll enjoy the schadenfreude. I'd feel a little sympathy if the AF had left the bonus at pre-COVID terms. But they didn't. They took the risk that COVID would affect the airlines longer, and offered a bonus with shit terms with less money/longer minimum commitments. They gambled and lost. So to hell with a big AF that makes it pretty clear they do not appreciate their rated force.1 point
