I'm not sure this sounds the same in your head as it does to the rest of us. I'm vaccinated and you sound like a twat.5 points

Your last point is probably one of the most glaringly ignored brief points for this pretend “great powers fight” we think we are ready for. All of our support enabling functions are being performed by aircraft that started life when people were still crossing the oceans in propeller driven aircraft and ocean liners. We need some new shit airplanes and we need them 9 years ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

Why would you cheer each and everyone? You know that masks and vaccines wont stop the pandemic right?3 points
-
Wearing a mask doesn’t work. Nothing works to stop the virus it’s gonna spread bro everyone is gonna get it. Get over yourself and get off your high horse it’s obnoxious. glad to see you hold your freedoms in such high regard! Common decency is to let Americans move on with their FUCKING LIVES without you, the CDC, and fauci dictating to us. Scared of the virus? Stay home. Stay safe. Mask up. It’s only two weeks.3 points

The two agencies do not work well together. I’ve spent a lot of time supporting the East Africa Response Force, it’s a giant joint planning circle jerk while waiting for the DOS, the actual lead agency, to do anything. Look at how Benghazi transpired. You had alert birds asking to takeoff from the Med while the state department sat on their vaginas. Afghanistan, however, is incompetence that is unprecedented. Anyone that calls this a success beyond the COCOM/strategic level needs a mental examination.2 points

What happened to all the chest beating about uncontrolled airfield ops? Make your pattern calls, visually clear the runway, etc. Same for the terminal area, at least in VFR.2 points

Which in no way takes away from the success of the vaccine. But it sure does remove legitimacy from the very aggressive push for mandatory vaccination in a wide range of career fields (like airline pilot and military). And now we are already talking about booster shots, after less than a year. I suspect many will want those to be mandatory as well. I'm a big science advocate, but I've never heard of a single medical research subject being mastered to the point of directing legally compelled participation in less than a year. There's no such thing as experts on new diseases, and COVID 19 is still very new. It's not a coincidence that overwhelmingly the "pro-vax" people are democrats and the "anti-vax" people are republican. Like everything else in the modern world of social media and 24-hour news, it's about what team you're on, not facts.2 points

What I would love to see from the Government is using this pandemic as a catalyst to address the obesity and general health in this country. Show how the comorbidities make this so much worse and push healthy lifestyle. Vaccines are fine but that shouldn’t be the only thing. I will get nuked by the libertarians here but I would gladly pay more in taxes for healthier school lunches/all food in schools, subsidized organic food production and distribution to drive down cost, and some kind of fitness voucher or something like that. To me, this has shown that much of this country would literally rather die than being told to lose weight.2 points
-
You're talking crazy. If everyone where vaccinated, the case load would absolutely be reduced by a large amount. It would not be reduced to zero. But it would be a lot less. Based on the single data point of 1918, I figure we've got another year of this. So hold on to your butts everyone.2 points

I am waiting for the first Federal court challenge to Texas' new suppressor law which went into effect on 1 Sep... https://americansuppressorassociation.com/asa-statement-texas-silencer-legislation-hb-957/ https://thetexan.news/texas-made-suppressors-still-subject-to-federal-law-atf-warns/ Speaking of which, House Bill 1927 which authorizes Constitutional Carry in Texas, meaning law-abiding Texans can legally carry a handgun without a license to carry, also went into effect this past Wednesday! God bless Texas!2 points

Well, in the military, it's because even if you want to be a dumbass and don't care about your own health, the military still needs you healthy enough to be ready to fight. Same reason they make you get the flu shot every year even though relatively few people die of the flu - because if you're sick in bed at home for a week with the flu, that's a week you aren't getting in the cockpit.1 point

Dude, the government literally has said that Pfizer offers more protection than JJ. So no, it’s not “the same”. Once again, you’re struggling with your counter arguments.1 point
-
However, all of them count. If you have gotten the Moderna or J&J, all you need to do is show your clinic your vaccine card and they will add it to your military shot record.1 point

This! Years ago, we pretty much did this at one deployed location I've been based. Basically had a CTAF freq where we ensured we were all deconflicted and used our targeting pod to scan the runway. It was pretty simple and worked just fine.1 point

Here’s an honest question for the pro-big government types on here: Now that military members are being forced to take a covid shot (or risk the negative consequences if no approved waiver), why then isn’t the military mandating members take the Pfizer vaccine vs taking the Moderna or JJ? According to big-government, Pfizer is more effective than JJ, so why give someone the option of taking a less effective shot that isn’t even the one fully approved by the FDA? If the entire reason for the mandated vaccine is that it protects us, why wouldn’t the DoD want us to take the best one?1 point

I’ve definitely been a pro-vax advocate on this forum, but I’ve been digging into some of the natural immunity studies that have been linked. Another one was just released in preprint that shows that natural immunity is 7-13 times more effective than 2 dose Pfizer: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.24.21262415v11 point

Misinformation, a lack of credible leadership and the fact you have to dig through a bunch of media sensationalized bullshit to try to find some semblance of facts to make your decisions. That’s why it’s split. There’s whole regions of the country who have bought into the vaccine. There’s whole regions of the country that reject it. The more one is surrounded by one narrative or the other, the more inclined one is to go with the flow. There’s a lot of strong group think out there and not a lot of critical thought.1 point

Just curious as to what your threshold is for doing something similar to Scheller? Hopefully there’s a line somewhere with all of us…then again, maybe there’s not. “ In February 1942, just two months later, President Roosevelt, as commander-in-chief, issued Executive Order 9066 that resulted in the internment of Japanese Americans. The order authorized the Secretary of War and military commanders to evacuate all persons deemed a threat from the West Coast to internment camps, that the government called "relocation centers," further inland.” https://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/japanese-relocation#background1 point

Yeah, this. @pawnman, you're probably the most prolific poster in this thread. Why don't you step back and tell us a little about yourself, and why this is such an important topic to you.1 point

One thing that pointed toward a higher chance of infection/reinfection for the vaccinated, at least in this country, was the fact that the vaccinated, as a whole, have become complacent and have gone back to "normal life"; ie: going on vacations, hitting up bars, and participating in large crowd events while the unvaccinated still maintained some semblance of "social distancing" and mask wear. In the end, the argument can still remain that the vaccine doesn't work as advertised.1 point

Cool, you latched onto the .53x increase, while not addressing: - the massive amounts higher probability of being reinfected with COVID/being symptomatic if you’re vaccinated vs. natural immunity - Vaccination status has little effect on viral loads And since you breezed my post in about 30” based on your reply time, you left out an important chunk of the study conclusion, which to highlight is ”natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization for the Delta variant of Coronavirus compared to Pfizer vaccine,” as well as failed to address how the vaccinated were the bigger problem in MA than the unvaccinated. This is not a pandemic of the unvaccinated (blanket statement) as the media is cramming down your throat, but you can argue those at high risk who aren’t vaccinated are causing issues. So, it’s a “pandemic of those people,” not one of low-risk, unvaccinated people. And if you already had COVID, you’re better off by a large margin than those who have been vaccinated and have not had COVID yet.1 point

1. CDC study on MA 3-17 Jul: - 74% of cases occurred in fully vaccinated persons - Among this group, 5 people were hospitalized. 4 were vaccinated, aged 20-70, and 2 of those had underlying med conditions. 1 was unvaccinated, age 50-59, and had multiple med conditions - CDC: “Delta infection resulted in similarly high SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated people.” 2. Israeli study around the same time: - Overview: study found natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization for the Delta variant of Coronavirus compared to Pfizer vaccine - Model 1: risk of break through infection was 13.06 times higher among vaccinated patients (vs. reinfection of those with natural immunity) and they were 27 times more likely to be symptomatic than unvaccinated people who'd had COVID previously - Model 2: risk of break through infection was 5.96 times higher among vaccinated patients (vs. reinfection of those with natural immunity) and they were 7.13 times more likely to be symptomatic than unvaccinated people who'd had COVID previously (Model 1 was between people with same time of first event, and Model 2 was without syncing) - Israeli Health Ministry (IHM): “With a total of 835,792 Israelis known to have recovered from the virus, the 72 instances of reinfection amount to 0.0086% of people who were already [naturally] infected with COVID. By contrast, Israelis who were vaccinated were 6.72 times more likely to get infected after the shot than after natural infection” - IHM: “effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has fallen to 40%” No spears, just data that many have not likely seen. The Israeli study did find a .53 times increase in protection if you had natural immunity + 1x shot. So, it’s not an anti-vax study, but does demonstrate the effectiveness of the vaccine and the expected results post-vaccine compared to natural immunity is substantially different than what the media, big pharm, and everyone who’s bought off on what they’re selling, is arguing.1 point

I’d like to see us move away from a Q-3 risk adverse flying culture. Better way to teach lessons than just slap Q-3’s on aircrew for every incorrect decision. It builds a mindset and culture that is afraid of failure and afraid to take risks in combat.1 point

The other way to think about renting is that it will free up cash for other investments and opportunities if you have it. For example, say I sell my home and get $250k equity out of it. If I were PCS'ing and knew I'd only be in place for 2-3 years, I think I'd rent and use my equity for other opportunities based on most real estate markets right now, but that's a personal choice. Both the stock market and real estate markets are sky high. Who knows for how long but now would be a great time to rent and put that cash in the bank so you're ready to capitalize on a big dip in either market.1 point

Thanks for the reply, sir! I've chatted a bit with some VSO's and the advice has been the same. I'm waiting to be seen again; and with COVID the face-to-face check-ups haven't been rolling. Just gathering up the paperwork and medical records and hoping to get checked up in a year and I'll see where to go from there.1 point

I’m literally asking this simple question that you still haven’t answered: If Pfizer is the only one that is currently FDA approved and is the most effective, then why now allow people to still choose? Why not just say anyone who hasn’t had the shot must get Pfizer, since it’s fully approved and offers the best protection?0 points
-
Because, as I’ve said, there is no scientific evidence to suggest we need to discriminate between the two from an efficacy perspective. Everything suggests that Moderna/JJ provide about the same protection at very minimal risk. FDA approval is not some magic thing that liberal policy makers cling onto, and you shouldn’t either - although you will to be obtuse. There is no scientific evidence to suggest that FDA approval correlates to efficacy. It’s why all of these people on this forum - a lot of your peers - have been successfully vaccinated for months before FDA approval. This is condescending, but this is my 4th message and I addressed it previously. Learn to read and comprehend people’s responses: I understand the next message from you will be, “I still see you simply cannot address my point. Pfizer is good, so if libtards were being good science followers, they would mandate it over everything else because we live in a black and white world. Checkmate.”-1 points
