BO.net has had some epic trolls. You’re damn good at it. Bravo4 points

Yes, I've heard that and changed the protocol for morale introduction. "Hello, this is (name) with Air Force MARSRADIO. I have (your first name) on the radio and he would like to talk to you." Do the briefing, etc after that. Confusion is bad enough, but often the first thought from the party on the phone is "What's wrong." I would suggest that anyone who might make a morale call put the phone number 469-718-2300 in their contacts. The majority of calls will come from that number. Also, we now have a more private way to get the patch. Go to https://hfmars.us. You can register as many numbers as desired. The form will ask for all information we need to complete the patch and you will receive a phone code. Provide that code to the operator who will get all the information, including phone number, on his screen so that information does not have to be transmitted over the air. Hope we do better next time. Our members enjoy doing the more personal morale patches. Thanks for the input.3 points

On second thought I guess your answer is: well an uncontrolled field is non-FDA approved so it's my decision whether i want to take the active or not. 😂2 points

For a group who suppose to be detail and procedure oriented, I’m surprised how many people give this point no legitimacy. As a recipient of any product wouldn’t you want the highest quality product held to the highest standard which is clearly marked verified with thorough documentation and testing? I don’t get it. I Must be missing something. If you have the choice between a certified aircraft and experiential aircraft (but legally distinct), wouldn’t you want the certified one? Yet some folks are saying, details smetails, I’ll take whatever you got. It’s just a label. If the choice is clear for something like aircraft, then shouldn’t it be even more clear for a drug that you place inside your body? The pharma industry is about making money and they are incentivized to boost benefits and shelter adverse effects from the public. There are rules that help prevent that from taking precedence over Americans health kinda. The rules don’t always work great (see Pfizer suit for 2.3billion). If they don’t follow those rules, then we should demand that they do. No?2 points

No, you've actually been quite helpful in demonstrating that no amount of scientific evidence or reality is going to change California's mind, so why should the rest of us suffer? In the hopes that they'll stick to whatever new reopening metric they invent and subsequently disregard? If they fuck their ports up enough, it'll just cause new ports to spring up elsewhere. I'm sure Mexico would love the port business, and you can drive trucks from Mexico straight into Texas. Remember, the business interests that made California an economic powerhouse were born of a much more conservative governance. Stray too far from that and the business will (continue to) leave.2 points

This is rather ironic to come from someone who believes in mandates, if I understand your position correctly. I'm a huge fan of the states' rights concept, so if California wants to lock down forever, more power to them. But mandating citizens in Texas wear masks or get vaccinated because California politicians have terrified their population is retarded. And anti-American.2 points

We did it in the Hornet in the RAG/FTU and fleet to show that you could bring back another aircraft through bad weather that didn't have the ability to ability to navigate or fly safely on its own due to aircraft malfunctions like a failed INS/GPS or lack of airspeed indications due to failed sensors. I had to bring back a Hornet for a section landing once due to the latter.2 points

MARSRADIO continues to provide free HF communications for land, air and sea DoD assets as authorized by DoDi 4620.02. We want to say a big THANK YOU to our military, active and retired, for your service to our country. Come up to our net for any assistance that we can supply. In addition to regular official and morale phone patches, we have handled in-flight emergencies and even provided sports scores. It is all about supporting you. While still spotty, conditions are improving into Europe, Africa and the Pacific.1 point

I'll also throw this into the hopper, if the flight lead is a weak instrument pilot, odds are that power changes, configuration changes, and control inputs to fly the approach will be large and late creating a much larger and later correction by the wingman. The decreased response effectiveness of the throttle(s) and flight controls are made worse at slower speeds like an approach. You work your butt off flying on the wing of a weak instrument flight lead.1 point

According to that article, it was two dozen from basic training, and another 17 from tech school. Meanwhile, we're long past the initial Nov 1 deadline. It's hard not to think that there is an element of bluffing on the part of the DoD.1 point

Yep, sure have. Basic training and tech school. More to follow, probably. https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2021-11-02/how-the-military-is-handling-troops-who-refuse-coronavirus-vaccines?context=amp1 point

So if the DOD produced some vials with the “right” label on them, would you roll up your sleeve? I’m guessing for most who have refused the vax, the answer is no….they’ll just then focus on some other nonsensical reason they shouldn’t have to take the shot. I find this whole Comirnaty argument, along with the “religious” objections to be disingenuous and inconsistent with coherent thought. In fact, that’s a true statement for almost all of the objections I’ve heard, military or otherwise. It’s a vaccine. It’s not gene therapy (not even close). Comirnaty is the “same formulation” as the EUA shot. It was developed with research used by many other pharmaceutical and consumer products that have not caused religious uproar in the past. It works. It’s not 100% effective but it still makes it far less likely that you will contract, spread, or be hospitalized by Covid. Finally, due to the nature of how vaccines work (yes, including this one), it is out of your system within the matter of a few days, which makes long term issues exceedingly unlikely. Some may have legitimate religious or medical concerns. If your doctor is recommending you avoid vaccination for whatever reason, I feel for you. If you have strong religious objections, well, maybe a horse and buggy in PA, avoiding the pitfalls of modern day life is more your style. For the vast majority though, sorry, I’m waving the bullshit flag.1 point

Standing by for discharge papers, but just like a fully FDA licensed shot, they haven’t appeared.1 point

Words mean things. Semantics are important when dealing with legal ramifications of volunteering for a shot vs being legally ordered to receive a shot.1 point

That really depends on what the Ukrainians think. In most of our unwinnable wars, the locals didn’t seem to care who their leaders were. Does the average Ukrainian think their life would be better or worse under Putin?1 point

WTF are you talking about of California being locked down?!? I live there, no such thing...1 point

1. I’m pretty sure that argument won’t hold up as the vaccine was mandated by SECAF, as he was directed to do by SECDEF. 2. You’re likely to be forcibly separated. Good luck. 3. Has your religious waiver been approved? I haven’t heard of one yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

You choose to play the game, and that's fine. I choose not to. *Except there are many situations that I'm not allowed to choose, and neither are my children, and that's the problem. The other problem is that games have an ending. But this one goes on and on and on. This is why I cringe when people use the term "Game Changer:" --"The vaccine is going to be a game changer." --"Once it's approved for kids, well, hallelujah, that'll be a game changer." --"Merck/Pfizer's covid pill is a total game changer." ......I know it's just an expression, but it's pretty obnoxious given that the game NEVER ACTUALLY CHANGES. "I was told 5 game changers ago that the game would change?" "Silence, covidiot,....cinch your mask tight and await your next jab. There's a new variant, and it's really scary." Ohh, and the portion of the population that "feels more comfortable going about their daily lives" can feel comfortable with their vaccine and their mask. I'm fine with that. But it's not on me to engage in acts of theater to help them with their mental disorder.1 point

If you live in a red state you'd know that commerce needs no such encouragement. People are uncomfortable because they are being told they should be. In the places where they aren't being frightened they are back to regular life. This stopped being about disease spread a year ago.1 point

It can be used in a negative/humorous manner.... MANY years ago (before facetime and email), we were moving a couple Gunpigs around theater on a long deployment. We had a new guy on his first deployment and when we explained the set up he asked if he could call his wife. On the spare radio we briefed the other airplane, entered a fake frequency and the new guy went to work. The other airplane flawlessly pretended to be the MARS operator and added some appropriate sound effects. "Standby for your party, over", new guy thought his wife would answer and the sound of a dude threw him off. "Where is Rachael over?" "She is not here man, she doesn't want to want to talk to you, she is with me now - OVER." New guy melted down, I felt bad for him, even after they told him he had a hard time recovering. They finally got an actual phone patch to his wife and he recovered.1 point

NATO’s always been as much about keeping the Germans under our thumb as it has been about deterring Soviet/Russian aggression. Don’t underestimate the good things that come from keeping virtually all of Europe under one military alliance. A peaceful Western (and now Eastern) Europe is a valid foreign policy goal for the United States and is well worth the money and effort of the last seven decades. I’d even go so far as to argue that a Europe that depends on us for defense is a GOOD thing for the United States. It allows us to continue to dictate the western world order.1 point

Pawnman simply cannot comprehend false equivalencies. This is not the flu shot. Or the small pox shot. Or any other shot that we've taken as part of the standard DoD regimen. Know how I know? Because I don't take THREE flu shots within 7 months. Putting the MRNA technology, the testing trials, the FDA approval, etc. etc. aside, the number of shots alone puts this in a different category. And if you think it will end with 3, you're on crack. They're already rushing to create another shot that's tweaked for Omicron. And why not..... there's already a line of tripple-vax'd, double-masked basement dwelling covidian freaks clawing to be first in line to roll up their sleeve yet again. Pfizer and Moderna are thrilled, and on and on it goes. I got the original two shots. But now it's clear that the efficacy wanes incredibly fast. 3 shots in 7 months, and more already on the horizon? No thanks. Not the same as other vaccines, and I'm not lining up every 6 months for a disease that the statistics clearly demonstrate is not a substantial risk to me. Likewise, I'm not going to have my kids jumping through these hoops. "OK boys, get back in the truck.... we're headed to CVS for the 3rd time this year..... there's a new variant." GMAFB. The "risks of driving" analogy is another false equivalency. Pawnman, yes, my kids wear seat belts. That's not the same as wearing a mask 8 hours a day at school or taking jabs every 6 months indefinitely. It's hilarious to watch you argue which is riskier, the disease or the shot? Because the risk to kids is absolutely infentesimal, for BOTH. Look at the data for hospitalizations and deaths in the 0-17 age group (Just the raw numbers.....without critical details on BMI/comorbidities, or Vax status.) The risk is statistically zero. Now imagine if the data included health conditions and relative risk to an average healthy kid. And then imagine the data also somehow captured all the asymptomatic, undetected, or unreported cases. Calculating covid risk to kids is an exercise in multiplying by zero. It's stupid. You've been had.1 point
-
So basically, you think you know what is best for my kids and anything that doesn't agree with your opinion is "poor risk decisions". No wonder this country is on the path it is on.1 point

Are you also unwilling to put them in your car? Because they're more likely to get injured or killed in an accident than by the vaccines.-1 points

So basically, you're fine with poor risk decisions about your kids as long as you get to make them. No wonder this pandemic is drawing out so long.-1 points
