Things are changing, the new AMC CC and Vice are two of the most respected leaders in the herc community. See!? You all just needed some herc seeds for things to improve đ.3 points

As a FAA examiner said to me about 20 years ago when I was asking about logging PIC time when I was solo in the T-37: "You were alone in the airplane -- who was the PIC if it wasn't you?"2 points

Itâs not elder abuse, the POS is responsible for his own actions. He has decades long history of saying the most nonsensical things, not the mention a long history of racist comments that no one cares about since his name is preceded with a D. Itâs okay, half the country voted for him and no mean tweets!2 points

This is a difficult question to answer and depends on a few things. As a job compared to other career fields and compared to active duty, it's better than most things out there that would pay a similar wage. Some might disagree, but working 80 hours a week as a investment banker doesn't sound like a good time. Compared to other airline options, AA is behind. Particularly with regard to scheduling flexibility and quality of life oriented rules. However, that's partially mitigated if you have an AD retirement or have a guard/reserve unit within driving distance. The people that enjoy this career the most are the ones that treat it as a part time gig. To answer your original question: No one knows what the future holds. All indicators lead me to believe AA will be around for a long time (the fed gov't seems to think so too). If you can live in base, go for it. If it's too awful, quit.1 point

This elder abuse is just sad... Also Biden: If this election bill is not passed the 2022 elections won't be "legitimate."1 point

Itâs varies, but it doesnât get complicated until you upgrade to IP. All Primary+Secondary time prior to AC upgrade is SIC. Primary+Secondary time after AC upgrade, as the A code, is PIC. IP time after IP upgrade is PIC if the A code, and might be PIC, depending on the airline, if not the A code. Edit to add: T-6 time as a student is Dual Received, T-1 time you can log as SIC. And who gave a speech in the senate about not wanting his kids to grow up in "a racial jungle".1 point

In a speech last week that almost literally no one watched and certainly very few reported on the speech that Biden gave on this topic. To wit, anyone who opposes this bill is a racist, George Wallace loving, wrong side of history kind of person who should be shunned. It wasn't covered because A) it's Biden and no one cares and B) it wasn't in a mean tweet, so life is good...1 point

Yeah thatâs what sucks lol. I thought my âwell rounded airmen conceptâ would be my saving grace because I figured my numbers were mid average. Only downside was not finishing the ppl which made me 2 of 2 for applying. My wife is a CSO so things are limited. Might just take CSO and hope the age waiver stays around for the next time I apply. Would hate to apply next year and not get cso or pilot lol. Congrats on getting selected!!!! CSO was the only option I was on the fence about so of course thatâs the one I get to ensure my stress levels are up đ1 point

Looks like Johnson is putting his Johnson on the table. Finally, someone with some common sense.1 point

A lot of it is semantics and fortunately, there is a lot of ambiguity to take advantage of when it comes to the military and the airlines. If your intent is good and you speak with everyone involved on both sides to make sure they're all good with your plan, you will be OK. Looks like you've done that already. "Terminal Leave" by definition is (AFI 36-3303): "Terminal leave is chargeable leave taken in conjunction with retirement or separation from active duty. Memberâs last day of leave coincides with the last day of active duty.". If your commander is willing to sign your leave request as being "Terminal", then that is on your commander. I guess you could say you are "separating active duty". The ARC has the unique ability to "separate active duty" an infinite number of times. Maybe you can talk to your FSS and have them cut you a DD-214 for "extra credit".1 point

It sounds like the boss is making a judgment call. Recently I projected OCONUS leave to an exotic location. My commander rejected it, even though there is a specific process (FCG, immunizations, APACS, etc) to do it, because of his own risk assessment and judgment. I was able to change his mind, which turned out to be pointless since the hotel closed and the flight was cancelled lol. The point is that commanders do have the authority to deny leave based on their judgment. The only way I could see them getting into trouble is if the denial is a pretextual excuse for some kind of unacceptable activity (discrimination, retaliation, etc). What I'd do is one of the following things: Give up I'd frankly do this. We're still in the thick of a pandemic and COVID entry rules can change dramatically and without notice, causing you to lose out on hundreds or thousands of dollars, many of which may not be refundable Ask the Wing CSS for such business rules/written direction None likely exists, it was probably a verbal statement from the boss Appeal to the Wing CC This will probably get you smacked down unless you have a pre-existing, good relationship. The boss is going to have bigger things to worry about than making sure that someone in a squadron gets to take exotic leave, while mobilized, during a pandemic There are battles worth fighting and I honestly don't think this is one of them. You'll be off orders soon enough and the pandemic will end, eventually. Just hang tight, don't rock the boat, and wait until the time is right. We Reservists often get leave denied when we're on orders as the understanding (rightly or wrongly) is that we are a surge capability to be leveraged when mission requirements demand it, so leave is a nice-to-have, not a gotta-have. So this âvoting rightsâ billâŚwho exactly (that is legally able to do so) canât vote in elections? And what is keeping them from being able to vote?1 point

For having 7 paragraphs, that letter didn't have much information. Though I'm sure they meant to say that 11R's were on track for a retro-bonus to make up for being forgotten in 2021. Edit: $35,000 is equivalent to $26,000 in 2007. And the take-home after taxes won't buy you a used car. Is that the best the "Aircrew Task Force" can do? The bonus was $25,000 in 1992 when I took it. That $25k is worth about $49,700 today.1 point

Update: Back up to $35k. "Additionally, the Air Force is working diligently to further improve the AvB program to meet the needs of both the Air Force and those of its Airmen as the defense and civilian aviation environments continue to evolve. Some significant and positive changes are on the table starting in FY23." Not sure what that means...it's capped at $35k...or at least that is all they are willing to ask for.
