  1. I believe in being fair and giving credit when it is due. Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi is now dead I am proud President Biden had the stones to send our young men and women into harms way to get him. Today we can all celebrate that an evil son of a bitch no longer walks the earth. Murica!

  2. 'Merica. I like flying someone else's airplane with someone else paying for gas.

  3. New rules that I am guessing a lot of folks don't understand. This is an OTA so the government can do what it wants after the initial down-select and there is no opportunity for protest....they can even go outside the Tier 1 requirements. FYSA MC-145 misses SEVERAL Tier 1 requirements. That being said Congress can certainly review the outcome. You might review the last NDAA where Congress specifically called out the program and delayed funding allocation until the completion of an OSD/CAPE study that should be complete next month. "Dear Congress, AFSOC here, remember that plane we bought a few years ago then DIVESTED most of them, well we would like to purchase 75 more...yes we are aware it would require restarting a now discontinued production line in a foreign country because there are not enough existing platforms to convert for this program. Also, yes we fully understand the logistical train will be completely dependent on the whims of a foreign nation. Yes there is plan to do final assembly in the U.S. but 80% of the production, touch labor and highly skilled jobs will be done in a foreign country." For the record - 100% of the AT-802 would be built in the U.S....mainly Oklahoma... home of the ranking member of the SASC and a key member of the HASC.

  5. - Log into vMPF and click under self-service actions - Click on Assignments (while in self-service) and go down to the EFMP section - In the new tab, click on the "apply to change/cancel assignment - If this doesn't kick back with "MILPDS doesn't reflect an assignment loaded, click on next and choose any of the options then next again. This next screen will tell you what unit and base you will be going to.

  6. Not a tail-dragger (AT-802). Not an ejection-seat aircraft (AT-6). I’ve flown the C-145 and it is NOT a comfortable aircraft to fly but it’s multi-engine and fills the C-130 mafia niche’.

  7. I'd put $5 on the MC-145 being the winner, at least initially (before what sounds like an inevitable dispute by another bidder). Has actual austere landing capability, cargo ramp/door if you want to carry things, AFSOC already has previous experience with the platform. And perhaps most importantly....drum roll....it's the platform that LOOKS closet to a -130, which unfortunately carries a lot of sway with important people on the third floor. Caveat: I'm in no way involved or associated with AO.

  8. I do hope you're right. If part of this plan is to export a product to partner nations, that airframe makes sense in a lot of ways.

  9. As much as I would love to see it, I cannot fathom in any way the modern Air Force choosing a tailwheel aircraft. So it’s between the AT-6 and the MC-145, and let’s be honest it’s going to be the AT-6 because that’s how lobbying and our acquisitions system works.

  10. Get ready for high food costs, nitrogen-based fertilizers have gone through the roof more than doubled last year prices due to high natural gas prices in Europe. Since Russia is the #1 supplier of natural gas to Europe and these fertilizers come from Europe or they buy up our stocks of it, supply and demand. Also, Russia and China have building up stocks of commodities corn, wheat, and soybean paying premium price. Good for US farmers, $5 corn pays a bunch of bills, not good for city folk.

  13. It’s part of the return to fly in ACC. Everyone has to do it, probably to make sure all is well before pulling G’s or flying in general.

  15. Was executing a weapons test a long time ago, we were enroute to Pt Mugu range. OPSEC had us refer to the weapon as the “device” and it had to be powered up a bit prior to range entry to run BITs. We were with LA Center and they passed words from the control room over center freq: “C/S, LA Center, I have been asked to tell you to power on your device.” We joked about answering on VHF, “Center, C/S, copy message. Powering on device. May God have mercy on us all.”

  16. Had a buddy when we were copilots who claimed he uttered the words “I completely disagree with every decision the aircraft commander has made up to this point” every 30 minutes just to have it on the tapes. 😂

  17. my sim partner told me he flew w/ a old crusty captain at the regionals that would slam his fist against the sidewall every time my buddy called "v1". after a whole trip of this my buddy asked him why he banged his fist against the side of the jet...the guy said "son if we ever crash the FAA is gonna have a hell of a time figuring out what the fuck that bang was"

  18. I think you are onto something. Take notes future wingmen…if a major screw-up is impending, don’t forget to complain about chest pains and yell “fucking vaccine” before doing whatever it is you were about to do.

  19. Considering the chest pain side-effect has a rate of 67 per million I find it improbable that as many pilots as claimed above have had the issue. With about 15k rated officers this works statistically to about 1 rated officer having this issue. Additionally with symptoms presenting 1-5 days post dosage and then abating a case of late onset is even less likely. The amount of word of mouth dudes on here accept is honestly embarrassing.

  20. Do I know if he directed or gave approval to close Bagram...nope. Do I suspect he forced them to close the base...yup. Do I know if he was briefed on every part of the plan...nope. Do I suspect he and his political minions had their hands in it, of course, every administration does. Did he say we wouldn't leave Americans behind then lie and set the conditions and timeline for an expedited withdraw...Yup He is the Commander in Chief...not a SINGLE Person has been fired or held accountable for the loss of those 13 Marines.
