  1. This is a VERY recent development & it kind of boggles my mind. It has been far more common for traditional “leftists” to argue that military alliances, globalism, and extensive foreign aid (specifically military aid) should take a back seat to solving issues at home. It’s only recently that the nativist wing of the Republican Party has taken over and made this issue it’s own. The Republican Party I grew up with (the people you now call Rinos) remembered the lessons of the Second World War and understood the benefits of a more “globalist” (now a dirty word for the new “conservatives”) outlook and it was commonplace to see the more left leaning folks criticize them for it. I feel like I’m living in bizarro world now when I hear conservatives rabidly sounding the mil/industrial complex alarm and liberals advocating NATO expansion.

  2. 'Cause being the biggest player in the game means you get to make the rules. I like living in a world where the United States is THE leader when it comes to influencing global values, especially when Russia and China badly want to replace us in that regard.

  3. They used cell phone data to track "pings" that visited different drop-off boxes and NGOs (democrat HQs). They located at least 2000 individual phones that visited at least 20 times to different drop-off boxes. Based on video evidence, each drop off was about 5 votes. Systematic voter fraud.

  4. As they should. Why put the interest of other nations above the interests of your own?

  5. https://www.newsweek.com/turkey-poised-deliver-massive-win-putin-nato-expansion-1706518 Stuff like this is why I feel this alliance is sometimes a waste of time. You have one state that doesn't agree with the other 30 and now your entire strategy is uprooted. Furthermore, there isnt much we can do about it. Even if we were to find the legal mechanism to remove Turkey from the alliance, it would be extraordinarily difficult to do. Turkey has really strategic terrain to the alliance and not all of the 29 remaining states may think they should go. If only one supports Turkey, than Turkey stays. How do you hold resolute and appear resolved when the internal politics of your own organization are in turmoil. This is not the only thing going on with Turkey as well. Turkey's activities in northern Syria and against Syrian Kurds who helped defeat ISIS is extremely troubling.

  6. In what world is societal economic collapse from excessive debt absorption considered security?

  8. You both miss my point completely. Russia over the past two months has presented Exhibit A of why that alliance exists and should continue to do so, and has likely completely upended the past 30 years' worth of arguments you're both sticking with. It's not all over yet, based on the last 30 years your points are not without merit and the follow through from Germany and others is obviously key. But look at how the world was reshaped post WWII, and how prosperous that has been for everyone, and then take a look at those who lived under the Soviet boot and see the deep scars there. Pretty sure I know how I'd like the world to be molded. Don't cede that, or you'll be back again.

  9. Agree. I don't mind being in NATO if we spend the same as Iceland. Let's do that. We can still help Europe, well just help them as much as they help themselves.

  10. Isolationism, "Europe's problem, no way that'll get to us"...haven't we as Americans learned that lesson twice? More? And those 'complicated alliances' have thus far kept us out of WWIII, through all the nastiness of the Cold War and beyond. Why is Russia pissed at the idea of the Swedes and Finns joining NATO? They lose their ability to threaten and bully their neighbor, and walk right in when they don't get their way. Alliances are not perfect, Germany's obscene 'elephant walk' of Eurofighters where they had to tow a good portion onto the runway to stage the photo because they were all NMC is emblematic of the problem...but that doesn't mean you don't adjust or fix those things, and not junk the whole thing altogether. And I'd say security is worth paying for, unless you like Novorossiya. And opposing that (a new Russian Empire) is a pretty fucking clear objective.

  11. The new conservatism is forgetting the past century plus' worth of historical lessons, paid in blood (to the tune of about 200 million dead), all for immediate convenience. But yay America First!

  12. That's just one example of the parties flipping. Slavery and civil rights, South vs North, federalism, limited government... these ain't your granddaddy's political parties.

  13. It's complicated... The 23rd was at Pope from 1 June 1992 – 30 July 2007. Per Wikipedia (always an easy source)... "On 1 October 2006, the 347th Rescue Wing at Moody redesignated as the 347th Rescue Group, while the 23rd Fighter Group was expanded and redesignated the 23rd Wing. Along with the 347th Rescue Group, the original 23rd Fighter Group was reactivated, this time at Moody Air Force Base, for only the second time in over fifty years. The 23rd Fighter Group was then assigned as one of the 23rd Wing's operations groups, although retaining the designation of "Fighter Group. Both the 23rd Wing and 23rd Fighter Group are charged with carrying on the historic Flying Tiger's heritage."

  15. Not a video but a cool google maps image. I was dicking around online (what happens when one retires) and stumbled on a 4 ship of Blacksnakes in the pattern. Ft Wayne boys coming back home. In google maps at their heritage park (street view) you can see all four of them make the break. Pretty cool.

  18. I don’t know anything about MAGA…I just know that a government that does not put the interests of its citizens before that of other nations isn’t a government worth funding/supporting. We’ll see how much more painful things need to get here before our citizens start thinking the same thing.

  22. I saw some of the alleged proposed rule stating that over 65 would be subject to additional medical screening above the current class 1 requirements and possibly even additional checkride requirements. I don’t see too many passing all the new requirements or even willing to subject themselves to them. Especially now that most airlines are using sodomization—-I mean optimization scheduling software. No one wants to stick around any longer than they have to.

  23. I don't think you are soapboxing, I think Danger41 summed it butter than I could. Steve as a journalist operating under the freedom of the Constitution and the 1st amendment, told the story, bravo. I am assuming you are not saying Steve can't report what he finds as a journalist. I agree that folks with classified knowledge have no business discussing things with the press or anyone not read in period dot. When I say Doc's story deserved to be told, perhaps I should caveat, I mean to his family. There is probably some middle ground but DoD never seems to find it. The family deserved some details and instead of "your loved one died in a crash, sorry", I would have handled it like this - "Unfortunately Doc passed away in the crash of a classified aircraft. It happened when he attempted to land but there was an issue with said classified aircraft and Doc was forced to initiate a very dangerous go around that ultimately saved the life of his backseater. Doc attempted to eject but his seat failed and he perished."

  24. I wouldn't get to worried and/or excited just yet. Even with age 65, our average pilot still leaves at 62.5. How many pilots would even make to age 67? I'm guessing if this makes it through, the realized impact would be miniscule. On the flip side, if it does pass, I'll take 2 more years of our disability. 🤣 My understanding is that ICAO can only recommend and not the final authority. So even if they raised the age, each country would have to raise it themselves. I'd love to see that 350 Captain come on down and fly my CHA turn (25 min flights) followed by 2 or 3 more legs. I'm sure they did that at one time in their career, but im guessing it doesn't sound to appetizing at 66 years old and years of the international good life.

  25. I’m a regular viewer of Steve’s 10 Percent True show and read/own several of his books and I don’t fault him for pursuing the story. That’s his job as an author. What sticks in my craw about this story is that there are two sources that feel the need to comment to an author/journalist about something that absolutely shouldn’t be discussed. He’s not a shoulder to cry on about a tragic event. He’s an author with well known credentials. I’ll admit that it’s a terrible situation for families in these types of scenarios but that’s part of the deal, as cold as that sounds. There’s a wall at the CIA commemorating lost agents and most of them aren’t identified. Hopefully their families know about their fates, but I doubt it. My $0.02

  26. Meh. Lots of nonsensical rambling. He'll be on the DTM circuit soon enough & we'll all care even less about what he has to say then. F1 has already given us 4cyl turbos that sound like shit and says it's going to be "net zero" by 2030. What more does he want? I suppose he can take a sailboat to the overseas races if he feels that guilty.

  28. Yeah…$30.5 TRILLION in debt but we shouldn’t put America and her taxpayer’s first. And the left will literally say it’s because the top 10-20% isn’t paying their “fair share”.
