  2. I vote we keep this thread more focused on abortion / when does life begin / when are rights conferred and take the odd detour to "Banking 101" to a dedicated thread.

  3. The system we have has worked for decades, and has produced far and away the best pilots in the world. Willfully giving it up like this is a disgrace.

  4. What I don’t understand is when the FAA said ‘nah’, why they didn’t just go do it in Mexico, where anything goes. They were in Arizona already…just do it over there. Instead they directly challenged the FAA, after they’d made their ruling.

  6. I always wonder what would have happened if we bagged Bin Laden in Tora Bora early in the game and if we would have gotten so far down the rabbit hole.

  7. Strange, I can't seem to find that part that says we should have done it a decade prior.

  8. I don’t know how it is in your community, but for us this change at UPT is accompanied by a decrease in training at the FTU and a decrease in hours requirements for MWS upgrades. And none of the tech works as advertised yet. In principle I think you’re right, I’m no Luddite. But all signs trend towards a decreasing organizational emphasis on competence. Good news is we still attract and hire great people, I’ve been super pleased with all of our younger teammates as they grapple through these challenges which are not their fault.

  9. I disagree, we need to modernize training and sims are a great way to do it. I’d rather do many FTU scenarios in a sim than airspace. And yes, I survived the great “how can they fly a jet if we don’t make them do fix to fixes” and “no formation landings? We are all gonna be speaking mandarin”

  10. Amen, Lets get back to how the Russians suck. In this case deliberately hurting themselves to get off the battlefield.

  11. What hasn't changed is how the Democratic party still strongly believes that race is a person's most important attribute in determining who they are.

  12. Isolationism, "Europe's problem, no way that'll get to us"...haven't we as Americans learned that lesson twice? More? And those 'complicated alliances' have thus far kept us out of WWIII, through all the nastiness of the Cold War and beyond. Why is Russia pissed at the idea of the Swedes and Finns joining NATO? They lose their ability to threaten and bully their neighbor, and walk right in when they don't get their way. Alliances are not perfect, Germany's obscene 'elephant walk' of Eurofighters where they had to tow a good portion onto the runway to stage the photo because they were all NMC is emblematic of the problem...but that doesn't mean you don't adjust or fix those things, and not junk the whole thing altogether. And I'd say security is worth paying for, unless you like Novorossiya. And opposing that (a new Russian Empire) is a pretty fucking clear objective.

  13. This is a VERY recent development & it kind of boggles my mind. It has been far more common for traditional “leftists” to argue that military alliances, globalism, and extensive foreign aid (specifically military aid) should take a back seat to solving issues at home. It’s only recently that the nativist wing of the Republican Party has taken over and made this issue it’s own. The Republican Party I grew up with (the people you now call Rinos) remembered the lessons of the Second World War and understood the benefits of a more “globalist” (now a dirty word for the new “conservatives”) outlook and it was commonplace to see the more left leaning folks criticize them for it. I feel like I’m living in bizarro world now when I hear conservatives rabidly sounding the mil/industrial complex alarm and liberals advocating NATO expansion.

  14. They used cell phone data to track "pings" that visited different drop-off boxes and NGOs (democrat HQs). They located at least 2000 individual phones that visited at least 20 times to different drop-off boxes. Based on video evidence, each drop off was about 5 votes. Systematic voter fraud.
