No "edgy" meme just a COME ON MAN...of course U.S. based refineries will shy away from sour crude, but in an EMERGENCY the U.S. could still use it...that was supposed to be the purpose of the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to provide for U.S. energy needs in emergencies and to protect against import issues. In the history of the SPR it has never been used as a tool to garner votes until our dear leader took over. You know very well that petroleum prices rely on a series of factors some of them being emotional and perception, Joe's release from the SPR was an attempt to sway the emotional variable and calm his poll numbers. Even if your argument had merit and we couldn't use this oil in the U.S. during an emergency, why would you make things easier for China? It makes ZERO sense, it was a political play with a strategic asset and it is failing. And I guess you don't great irony in the fact that the oil went to the same Chinese company Hunter had a sake in, I can only imagine the coverage if any member of the Trump family had ownership. The bottomline is we have a completely disconnected energy policy driven by the extremists in the DNC, "Do not drill here in the U.S., that will solve climate change"....instead, release from the SPR, go to Saudi hat in hand to increase production, work with Iran behind the scenes so they can get more oil on the world market and kibitz with Venezuela to do the same. In short, surrender U.S. oil self-sufficiency because the oil that comes from overseas doesn't count towards climate change. Come on Man.10 points

Yeah not true. If a refinery has a coker plant they can process sour crude. Sour crude is a fraction of hte price as Sweet crude therefore yields a much higher crack spread. I know every refinery that purchases sour. The Keystone PL supplies Cushing OK (Worlds largest storage center) with millions of Sour from the tar sands in Canada. Keystone is not to be confused with the yet to be built Keystone XL. What is your experience in O&G btw?3 points

I am assuming that was directed at me. You sir have no clue. Me? Hired by my #1 and #4 choice. #1 brothers went on strike. Refused to cross as a replacement...promptly fired. Went to #4. There we supported our striking brothers at Eastern and Continental by gladly paying monthly assessments for several years. Gladly paid assessments for our long retired pilots that had little benefits. Gladly paid two merger assessments. Stood side by side with my brothers on the picket line when we struck our airline. Suffered through 6 CEO's all of which left with millions; two of which parted with $200+ million each. Went through BK, pay dropped from $220/hr to $139/hr. Retired early so Prozac and others could move up a number and enjoy the "fruits" of our years of past struggles. Might want to thank that senior guy hired prior to '08 the next time you fly with him. In solidarity with my Continental brothers, carried a "No Lorenzo" sticker on my fuselage for 20 years:2 points

Wasn't sure where to put this. I hope this comes true. If it's easier to sue the lying news media maybe they will try to tell the truth more often. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/3538084-clarence-thomas-signals-interest-in-making-it-easier-to-sue-media/2 points

And they smile when they see people wearing masks. Like the shoe clerks smile when they see someone wearing a reflective belt in the daytime.2 points

Try as I might, I can't look away from the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page, because they do a good job of publicizing these kinds of shenanigans. They did not disappoint. Highlighted that MSgt Westmoreland wasn't authorized to be wearing the MTI hat when not acting as a MTI, some criticisms of his uniform, etc. Subsequently, MSgt Westmoreland reached out to the page mods and asked them to take down their posts. Which of course the mods declined, and published the message exchange. 400+ comments so far. Always love a "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" moment. Good entertainment with my Sunday morning coffee.1 point

Meanwhile, the parts store wasn’t open for MX to get critical parts, multiple families gained another week of not having their HHGs, and an estimated 6900 pages of forms were misplaced in the uniform prep “party” hubris (but the customer won’t know until they eventually call and are told they have to start over, mi scusi!) So the meat bag in the Oval Office decided to release oil from the U.S. Strategic Reserve to help ease prices here at home (not the intent of the reserves). 5 Million Barrels of that oil was then sent to Europe and CHINA! I know I know...at least we don't have mean tweets from the orange man. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/oil-us-reserves-head-overseas-gasoline-prices-stay-high-2022-07-05/1 point

I don't post here much (if at all mostly reading), but my family and I were there Friday night to see his night show and also stayed for Saturday's show. So tragic and honestly unbelievable witnessing something like that. Words cannot explain what we and the entire crowd witnessed and more importantly his family. Our prayers for the family have been spoken each night as this is such a hard time. It was nice to see the Battle Creek Field of Flight took donations for the family during the rest of the events over the weekend and last I saw they took in over $3,000. Sunday's air show started with the missing man formation with Rob Holland, Bill Stein, Nathan Hammond, and Ken Rieder. It was also ended with the missing man formation by the USAF Thunderbirds. The crowd was silent and it was very emotional, both times. May Chris Darnell rest in peace.1 point

Yes. Snort died in his L-1019 up in Lewiston. Got the word from my warbird / airshow buds. He was heading back to Ft Snort when he crashed. Quite the character, and there are a lot of opinions about him. But Snort was part of the dying breed of old school fighter pilots that the current military really doesn't want around much anymore. My Tomcat buds that flew with him and worked for him think the world of him. Even the ones that didn't care for him! The fact he flew the way he did, and was able to live as long as he did... well, that's quite a feat. Snort was a Brother in Arms, and I raise a glass for him tonight. edit: for those not aware, Snort was the pilot of the famous knife-edge Tomcat pass. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/the-story-and-video-behind-dale-snort-snodgrass-legendary-super-low-banana-pass/1 point
