  1. 100% you can't force U.S. refineries to take it but it never should have been released because it is for emergencies, not correcting poll numbers. Also, 100% oil is a global commodity, but releasing that small amount had no impact on the market, it was simply a gift to China because it was sold at a discount. Regardless, the bigger point is the moronic policy that says taking oil from other countries somehow helps global warming?

  2. No it doesn’t, people get upset when you point out the obvious that the handlers behind the scenes are really running the country. As for the train wreck and lack of competence, it seems lately that more on the left are more concerned with optics (intersectionality, social justice and identity politics) than anything…so much so that competence and meritocracy be damned. How do CNN, MSNBC etc portray these two? Do they hide the gaffes and missteps (yes). That’s all that matters.

  3. ...Or the 2014 Gulfstream takeoff crash at KBED. IOW, not the first nor the last time a pilot attempts to takeoff with the control lock engaged. It happens, and it's unfortunately usually the result of interrupting a flow, or distractions that lead to interruptions. You know, hooman stuff, as my despondent feline in the avatar would retort to (if he could). These things happen, and we are all capable of falling into such a trap. Is it inevitable? Of course not. We just have to continue to honor the memory of those no longer with us, take these written-in-blood ADM reminders in stride, and attempt our best at keeping our behavior in the cockpit consistent. Easier said than done, but that's the bar we gotta cross every day, good bad or indifferent. It sucks to be judged as a high-experience guy getting killed doing something most bystanders would tend to associate with errors reserved for the uninitiated. Nothing could be further from the truth wrt to that assessment of course; high time in jets doesn't really make us immune from porking operations in simpler aircraft. I certainly don't make such presumptions when I jump into my woefully underpowered and weather-incapable flying lawnmower, with loved ones on board no less. It doesn't care one bit about my usaf command wings nor the amount of times I didn't get killed the week before flying it, or the much more complex flying I do at work. May he rest in peace. The man had a great run and flew the pants out of most he got his hands on, as most of us would have too had we had his enviable career timing. A life well lived in my book. 12. I hope a lot of AF guys that have no goal in life besides jumping to the airlines at the earliest opportunity read this stuff for context. An airline career is fantastic, but I hear a lot of young guys that think it’s all perfect and zero drawbacks that have zero clue. I’ve talked to a bunch that literally don’t even know there’s a union and how they’re anti-union. Best of luck with that in the airlines.

  13. There's always an excuse. The guys hired in the last few years spent 10-17 years stuck at the regionals. The TWA guys got stapled twice. B-scale, mergers, integrations, bankruptcies, pandemics... It's always something. You either act as a unionist or the bad times will persist. You don't have to like it. I don't. But it's a unionized career, so act accordingly. You did, but others don't. I always find it funny when an old guy tells me about how when he was hired they said he'd be a captain in 5 years and they'd have to back up a dump truck full of money to his driveway. Then he got screwed by xxx or yyy and it took decades to get where he was "supposed to be." That's why he can't afford to follow the union guidance this time. Sorry. But don't worry, he tells me, you'll be a captain in 5 years and they'll have to back a dump truck full of money to my driveway, so I shouldn't worry about him acting like an independent contractor, it'll be different for me... Even after a pandemic these guys still don't see the irony or hypocrisy. But pilots are funny creatures...

  15. Try as I might, I can't look away from the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page, because they do a good job of publicizing these kinds of shenanigans. They did not disappoint. Highlighted that MSgt Westmoreland wasn't authorized to be wearing the MTI hat when not acting as a MTI, some criticisms of his uniform, etc. Subsequently, MSgt Westmoreland reached out to the page mods and asked them to take down their posts. Which of course the mods declined, and published the message exchange. 400+ comments so far. Always love a "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" moment. Good entertainment with my Sunday morning coffee.

  16. No "edgy" meme just a COME ON MAN...of course U.S. based refineries will shy away from sour crude, but in an EMERGENCY the U.S. could still use it...that was supposed to be the purpose of the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to provide for U.S. energy needs in emergencies and to protect against import issues. In the history of the SPR it has never been used as a tool to garner votes until our dear leader took over. You know very well that petroleum prices rely on a series of factors some of them being emotional and perception, Joe's release from the SPR was an attempt to sway the emotional variable and calm his poll numbers. Even if your argument had merit and we couldn't use this oil in the U.S. during an emergency, why would you make things easier for China? It makes ZERO sense, it was a political play with a strategic asset and it is failing. And I guess you don't great irony in the fact that the oil went to the same Chinese company Hunter had a sake in, I can only imagine the coverage if any member of the Trump family had ownership. The bottomline is we have a completely disconnected energy policy driven by the extremists in the DNC, "Do not drill here in the U.S., that will solve climate change"....instead, release from the SPR, go to Saudi hat in hand to increase production, work with Iran behind the scenes so they can get more oil on the world market and kibitz with Venezuela to do the same. In short, surrender U.S. oil self-sufficiency because the oil that comes from overseas doesn't count towards climate change. Come on Man.

  19. I'll add something a bit different here. The above advice is solid, especially not drinking. Remember that everyone you deal with other than your wife and kids has seen this a million times. When a judge/lawyer/mediator asks what you want, it's just a test. You're getting half. If that's what you ask for, they know which party is acting in good faith. "I want my children to have a great relationship with both of their parents going forward, and to split the assets we accumulated while married right down the middle." Don't date for now. You have kids, I didn't. But they won't understand I'm guessing, and it sounds like the soon-to-be-ex will tell them if she finds out. You're going to get so much ass it'll make your head spin, so be patient. Write down everything that was wrong in your relationship. You determine the detail, but it should include what she would do that you didn't like, why you didn't like it, and how it made you feel. For bonus points, also write down the things that she didn't like about you. Trust me on this. When you meet that flight attendant that turns your stomach into butterflies, if it ain't written down, you won't remember it. Make sure the woman you decide to make into your kids' second mom isn't a recycled script. Do not trust this to your memory alone. The smaller brain is always an optimist. Think about how many people you know. Then think about how many of them are good friends. Then think about how many of those are best friends. The friend you can go on a month long backpacking trip with and not get annoyed with or tired of once. Pretty rare, huh? Now add sexual compatibility to that. If you find your forever-mate after 3 months and a few tinder dates, you'd better be buying lottery tickets too...
