Ukraine isn’t even close to Afghanistan though. It’s not even close to Iraq, Iran, or any number of third world conflicts where western weaponry has gone unaccounted for. I don’t think Charlie Wilson’s War is a remotely fair comparison here. Ukraine is (or was) basically a first world nation trying to align itself more closely with Europe and the West, not some failed state full of jihadists bent on ousting their infidel oppressors. If they win this thing or even stalemate, Europe ends up with a heavily armed actor on its eastern flank that’s proven it has the will and the ability to counter Russian aggression. This scenario has the potential to be very useful, as a strong non-NATO Ukraine could be an unpredictable wild card for Russian strategists. If they capitulate, well Russia ends up with some HIMARS, Javelins, and (now) HARMs that are most assuredly not our most capable versions of those weapons systems. Bad? Yeah probably, but not nearly the same thing as the Taliban parading around in American armored vehicles or the Islamic Republic of Iran inheriting a readymade Western air force.

Teacher unions are at the heart of everything that’s wrong with the public education system. Dismantle all of them - nothing will fix this problem outside of complete “burn it to the ground” and rebuild from the ashes. I feel bad for all the good teachers caught in the crossfire.

But we are more focused on ridiculous societal norms of the day. Who wants to join a military (or go to college via affirmative action) knowing that they got hired not because of their ability and hard work but primarily because of skin color and/or genitalia? What about if you didn’t really know after you got hired or picked up if you never found out. If there was always a doubt above your head that you are there because of skin or genitalia and not because of how effective or capable you are. One has to imagine that isn’t a great feeling. Work hard. Dream big. Never give up. Fly. Fight. Win.

In the fighter world most pilots will do a “long/full” TX if they haven’t flown the aircraft previously, senior leadership types not withstanding. If you’ve flown similar aircraft (e.g. F-16 TX to F-35), you may get away with a shorter course, and a lot of that is driven by available slots/funding.

However, the truth is slowly coming out and it is becoming ever more clear elements within the FBI put their fingers on the election scale by purposely suppressing/discrediting the Hunter Biden Laptop. If the multiple whistleblowers who have come forward are to be believed there is good reason two top FBI agents resigned after allegedly purposely thwarting an investigation of the laptop. Did anyone see the Mark Zuckerberg segment on Joe Rogan where he says the FBI came to warn him of a misinformation dump that was about to occur, the shocking part is the FBI already had the laptop at that point...they knew it was real. There is most certainly some rot in the once hallowed halls of the FBI.

I'm completely fine sending these aid packages but not acknowledging that we probably don't have accountability of every dollar that is spent is either academically dishonest or naive, whichever one fits. There’s certainly a portion of the MAGA crowd that falls into that category. Vs what Jack Posobiec and Sim want to twist the words into: i.e. “all Trump voters are a threat to democracy”. Not remotely what was said or implied. Here’s a hot tip: when you constantly twist your opponent’s words and actions into something that makes them seem much worse than they actually are, you aren’t winning the argument. You are only re enforcing the belief system of the people who already agree with you. This is how we end up with extreme polarization and political gridlock.
