uh there was a giant conspiracy. look at the emails that were sent internal to the CDC and the memos sent to big tech to censor opposing ideas. that's factual my man. the fact is the CDC and federal government conspired with twitter specifically (and big tech in general) to censor and ban private citizens and doctors dissenting opinions. the email chain is there. alex berenson has the email screen shots. (reference joe rogan episode #1864) its bad. and there's gonna be hell to pay. and no, alex berenson isn't some right wing nut job...you can look him up. as far as pigeon hole....well seems like biden's done that for me. you either voted for him or you're "extremist" and a "threat" to the republic. in regards to pigeon hole related to the pandemic...there's only two sides. you either approve of how FL type states handled it...or you approve of how CA type states handled it. there's no middle ground. you're either for individual rights and choices or you're not. that's not a pigeon hole or strawman. i'm amazed at how many citizens blindly trust their daddy government and will never hold it accountable for gross violations of their constitutional rights.5 points

That’s exactly right. Go back and read this thread from 18 months ago, people here were claiming there was a scientific consensus when in fact there was a conspiracy to paint a scientific consensus and drown out opposing voices. And those opposing voices turned out to be correct. Now revisionist history is taking place right in front of our eyes: Democrats are claiming they did not want schools closed, Trump pushed the shot, and it was just a wild time and nobody really knew what the right answer was so they defaulted towards safety. All of that completely false. As I look at the many failures compounding within our society, from skyrocketing urban crime to a foolish Covid response, to a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan, runaway inflation, etc. there is a single thread which connects them all: lack of accountability. People in senior leadership positions made deliberate decisions with disastrous results, and they are never held accountable. All of our problems will continue to worsen until people are fired & thrown in jail when they deserve it. And given the severe damage to children he perpetrated, I would like to start with Fauci.3 points

My FCC permit is in the same plastic sleeve as my ATP and medical, so I really don't see the big deal if they would ask for it. That said, outside of type rides, I've never once been asked to see my FCC permit (or asked for it as a Captain). I'm not sure why it's still a thing, it's ridiculous since it's simply a paperwork/money drill. But there seems to be trend of guys who act like you're ruining their day to open their wallet and show some paperwork.1 point

I think it's great to give NCOs a pay raise but why only NCOs? Also, when has it ever been good to take non taxable income away from your people? Especially if they are the same people hopping into aircraft and flying for a living. Or maybe it's a CCT, PJ or JTAC that do jobs that put you in harms way. How many finance troops think they might die when they go to work?1 point

Seems like the CMSAF wants to reduce the pay for special duty while increasing the pay for non-special duty. A continuing attempt by the Air Force to make the best less special and the average more special. Can’t have anyone being cooler than the Bobs…1 point

Really Huggy? Including the FCC permit? (Busting your balls here brotha). But seriously, I get the airline ID, the license, maybe even the medical, & I tip my hat to the guys that carry & cross check a scab list. But the radiotelephone thing is a bit much. Next I’m gonna be getting shit ‘cause my shoes aren’t shined & my buttons aren’t polished. If a guy is obviously a pilot trying to get to work or, better, go home on my airplane, he’s getting on with the least hassle possible.1 point

My estimate….You can cut 30% of the people with zero mission detriment. Most of the people complaining are lucky they aren’t rotating tires at Walmart.1 point

For the Reservists/Guardsmen in the crowd, you can hedge your bets and take the full SBP benefit payout if you die from when you stop serving until two years after starting retirement pay and then cancel it. You have one year to cancel SBP from the two-year anniversary of starting retirement pay (see below). To me, this seems like the best bang for your buck because you will only pay for two years of SBP and still be covered (if you die) for multiple years depending how big the gap is between when you stop serving and when you start collecting retirement pay. Once you cancel SBP within these limitations, you can then rely on more economical options such as term life insurance as required. -Survivor’s Benefit Plan (retirement annuity) law (https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title10/subtitleA/part2/chapter73&edition=prelim): 10 USC Chpt 73 (BLUF: you can cancel SBP for a one-year period after the second anniversary of when retired pay is received. See “Stopping or Changing Coverage” bullet #4 at: https://www.dfas.mil/retiredmilitary/provide/rcsbp/) --Para 1447 6(B): Full amount under reserve-component annuity.—In the case of a person who would have become eligible for reserve-component retired pay but for the fact that he died before becoming 60 years of age, such term means the amount of monthly retired pay for which the person would have been eligible— (i) if he had been 60 years of age on the date of his death, for purposes of an annuity to become effective on the day after his death in accordance with a designation made under section 1448(e) of this title; --Para 1448a: Election to discontinue participation: one-year opportunity after second anniversary of commencement of payment of retired pay (a) Authority.—A participant in the Plan may, subject to the provisions of this section, elect to discontinue participation in the Plan at any time during the one-year period beginning on the second anniversary of the date on which payment of retired pay to the participant commences. (b) Concurrence of Spouse.— (1) Concurrence required.—A married participant may not (except as provided in paragraph (2)) make an election under subsection (a) without the concurrence of the participant's spouse.1 point

With reports of attacks and loss of control in the Crimea I think we are far closer to a doomsday (Tac Nuke), scenario. We are becoming ever more bold in providing help and equipment to the Ukrainians which has helped them build momentum. Putin needs an off ramp and his options are decreasing. While I am in favor of killing and crushing the Russian invaders it has become apparent the rank and file (mostly conscripts), of the Russian Army was unaware they were invading another country. The losses are staggering and the desperation in some of the intercepted phone calls and messages relates a generation of young Russian men being chewed up in a meat-grinder that has produced upwards of 80,000 casualties and a stalemate at best. In many cases numerous Russian units have become combat ineffective. Russian weapons inventory is low (over 50% of all attack missiles consumed, a similar story on artillery stocks), older equipment is being pressed into service and Putin has called for another round of conscription. The ending is not yet determined but it will not be pretty for either side. Ukrainian pensioner 'shoots down £74million Russian Su-34 jet with a RIFLE and is awarded a medal for his heroism'1 point

Yeah, this is key. Everybody’s going to have to come to terms with the fact that we NEED new reactors. A lot of progress has been made over the past 40 years and it’s my understanding that smaller, regional level plants are probably the way to go. We should start a massive PR campaign to get people on board & start building the things ASAP. In related news, the French have apparently come to terms with the reality of Europe’s energy predicament and decided to re-start all of their reactors: https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/edf-restart-all-its-nuclear-reactors-by-this-winter-minister-says-2022-09-02/ Over/under on how long it takes them to start selling electricity to the Germans?1 point

I'm watching Aptera as well. I actually think their manufacturing techniques/ideas are more interesting than the car. Honestly: Elon. He made electric vehicles cool and up-market. Everything previously was an over priced econo-box. I suspect the weight/cost penalty doesn't work out well. A single train car carries something like 4 semi-trailers worth of stuff. You can amortize a lot when you're carrying that much, and weight is effectively irrelevant on a train. I'm confident that the battery tech will be much better in the not-too distant future. There's a shit load of money to be made in that sector. What gives me pause is the energy levels needed to charge an electric semi. Megawatt level charging, for one truck, is insane. Now multiply that by however many charging stations at a truck-stop, and they'll have to hang out for 30 minutes while charging. I keep coming back to the electricity demand increase if our species dropped all fossil fuels, and I can't wrap my head around it without nuclear power.1 point
