100% agree. Now that I’m at the end of my career, I finally see this for what it is: tactics of a failing bureaucracy. Stall, delay decision until survey results, lose survey results, further study the problem, convene a committee and of course it takes time to select committee members, etc. In fact, proficiency at these tactics is a chief indicator of which senior officer is ready for another star; battlefield results are irrelevant and accountability for failure in combat is zero. If I could identify one single characteristic which is the thread tying together multiple failings of our military, small senseless policies to massive strategic failure, it would be this: combat success does not equal career success and career success can be had without combat success. If we promoted people who valued combat success above all else, everything would resolve logically including the aviation bonus.5 points

So we continue to study the problem. I feel like I've been hearing the "study" line for my entire career.3 points

It'll probably be a few decades before the general public has a clear idea of the American involvement in this conflict. That's a good thing.2 points

https://www.foxnews.com/media/pentagon-30-days-review-diversity-chief-accused-anti-white-social-media-posts More of that you can't be racist if you're black nonsense. She is the problem. I like her shirt referencing her ancestors as well. I'm sure they are proud of her work to take credit for their (her ancestors') suffering. Couldn't be more of a c u n t. Someone decided that this lady is good for the military. She is saying things a drunk Klan member would say about minorities. But she's not racist because she's black. Lol. She's a Black Klansman. Where are my woke airmen (airlings for the woke) at? Please explain this lady to me. What excuse can you give me as to why she's right?2 points

We know who attacked the Nord Stream Pipe Line, We know how they attacked the Nord Stream Pipeline and we know why they attacked the Nord Stream pipline...those are facts. Currently responses are being "discussed and wargamed." There WILL be a response. What the response is and whether or not that response is ever publicized has yet to be determined.1 point

it's time to stand up and mock DEI. not the time to simply roll eyes at the ridiculous global DEI email that pops in your inbox. it's time to mock it. openly. if you're in position of power it's time to choose between your career over what is right.1 point

From the analysis and past discussion with the Army I've seen so far, increasing the C-130 internal width by 8" would have made a dramatic difference but Lockheed would not budge (unlike BQZIPS's Mom). Still working the exact numbers to account for new equipment but it looks like that small change would yield an increase to between 30 and 40% of current rolling stock. As an aside, KC-390 has 14" more internal width.1 point

I know what you’re saying. Problem is, NP2000 isn’t going to look good for many months if not years for the entire H model fleet. Think of the issues with keeping folks current and proficient. Check rides? The 189th at KLRF is grounded. That’s the FTU… This is a major issue that will have lasting effects. There are already countless requests for airlift that go unfilled. The army will suffer greatly from the lack of jump support. There are currently 5 ANG units that fly the C-130J and 3 of them are in conversion. That limits their capabilities based on experience and pay statuses. Been a C-130 guy for 20 years now. I know the sky is always falling and then it isn’t. Things always work out. But, this one is bad.1 point

Had a 0-4 African American Major (pilot, and going places) tell me African Americans cannot be racist. He claimed racism by definition could only be employed by the more powerful and less victimized race. We are absolutely effed.1 point

They’re also going to make you get a shit ton of other vaccines. Also you may be ordered to fly until your death if it comes down to it. Or, if we’re all out of planes, you may be ordered to pick up a rifle and fight until you die defending your base. Or, even worse, you may be the one issuing those orders. Or maybe the orders are to kill a million civilians - including women, children, and other Christians - using nuclear weapons, which will likely cause a retaliatory attack that kills your family and friends. All for a war started by an old man that half the country doesn’t agree with politically. I guess you’re cool with all those things. But getting the COVID vaccine, now that’s a bridge too far for a Christian. So if you’re quitting because you don’t want to get a shot for political reasons (religious reasons? nah), then I say adios and thanks for making the decision early. Wouldn’t want to find out about it after you’ve wasted years of everyone’s effort and money getting you CMR. Good luck in civilian life, I’m sure you’ll find an airplane job if you work hard enough. Please pay your taxes.1 point

I'm not good enough to give advice. But what I'm planning to do is buy once (if) the Fed pivots. Until then, their stated goal is demand destruction and increased unemployment, which will necessarily be recessionary, especially to the assets most effected by the last decade of Fed policy: homes and stocks. My buying will be focused on the widespread lack of capital expenditure in the energy market, in particular nuclear, but also oil and gas. Gold and silver will *probably* wake up with a fed pivot because it will signal the acceptance of long-term high inflation, but that's not nearly as certain as the energy crisis we are barreling into. I think long bonds will get crushed once the narrative shifts to expecting >3% average inflation over the next decade.1 point

I know exactly what my service entails. America is bigger than a president, political party, or vaccine. Some people participate and actively work hard to make the military and their country better. Other people quit, have a victim complex, and cry about it from the sidelines.1 point

I've already given all of my assets and savings ($47.36) to support the victims. But only white victims. How does that sound? Racist? Yes, because it is. Now change the color to anything but white. Is that racist? Not according to our dear "leaders".1 point

Ole Kamala letting us know where we stand as Americans in a crisis after she said the administration would take "equity" into account when dividing up disaster relief as Hurricane Ian rips up the eastern coastline. "We have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity." Not to be outdone Uncle Joe says "A vital part of preparing fur Hurricane Season is to "get vaccinated now."1 point

I laughed but the thought of that happening is terrifying. Based on Brandon/Austin/Miley’s handling of Afghanistan, I have zero confidence that things would go well for us in a blunt and escalatory conflict. The fact that Austin and Milley haven’t resigned is an embarrassment.1 point

To piggyback on ViperMan, nuance is great and all, but some things are self evident, no nuance required: - The American political system is better than Russia’s. Despite all our flaws, I’ll take a representative democracy over Putin’s kleptocracy every time. - The liberal world order (again, I’ll remind the less educated amongst us that “liberal” does not refer to US domestic politics here) established after WWII is better than an alternative where strong countries simply take what they want. The “establishment” that Putin and his apologists like to rail against has kept the peace for seven decades. Some of us have become so accustomed to that peace that it’s become hard to believe that it’s not just the de facto state of the world. It’s not. It takes a lot of work. - Invading a sovereign nation, no matter what cultural and ethnic ties you think you have, is wrong. That’s it. No need for discussion (or nuance). Respect for sovereignty is a key to peace in the modern world. It should be defended vigorously by anyone who doesn’t want to see the planet flattened by war. I could go on. Point being, there’s no gray area to hang out in here. No we aren’t perfect. Yes, we have our problems, some of them major. Despite all of that, we are objectively better than the alternative, regardless of which party is in power, regardless of our internal differences. Objectively. Better. Full stop. I choose to support OUR institutions, flawed though they may be, because it’s a far better option than operating in the wilderness of thought where the Russian and Chinese fact twisters want us. There are forces in this world that are true existential threats to our way of life. They are NOT your neighbor with the coexist bumper sticker (naive as he may be) or the Trump flag on his truck. They are not even Nancy Pelosi (who I guarantee you is FAR more of a free market advocate than Putin or Xi), or Mitch McConnell. It continuously blows my mind that some of us continue to point fingers at each other when there is no shit, painfully obvious evil rearing it’s head in the world with despots outright stating their desire to destroy western cultural values. It’s time to recognize what’s right in front of our faces, put our differences aside for a bit, and start pulling in the same direction.1 point
