There's not much that bothers me more than Air Force PA / journalists botching aircraft visrecce. I can understand the occasional nonner poster with flanker clip art but the people whose literal core job is to report factually on the mission we do is a bridge too far. @HuggyU2 you're a far better man than I. Iâd argue the Russians are actually pretty good at the gray zone stuff because they use people who want to do it, plus the Russians are good at being sneaky. Itâs the full frontal, conscript-manned war that we are watching Russia implode upon.2 points

We know who attacked the Nord Stream Pipe Line, We know how they attacked the Nord Stream Pipeline and we know why they attacked the Nord Stream pipline...those are facts. Currently responses are being "discussed and wargamed." There WILL be a response. What the response is and whether or not that response is ever publicized has yet to be determined.2 points

You have to remember that twitter/fb/etc is troll farms and a tiny slice of the actual world population using it. It's also engineered to keep you engaged (enraged).1 point

One maybe two of those were conventional force on force "wars". The rest were lost mostly due to political hamstrings. Generally speaking. Russia is displaying its incompetence for the world to see. Do you really think specialized portions of their military systems are better than what's being displayed? Possibly. Highly unlikely.1 point

Just opened a Navy Fed account this morning. They have a local branch for me, too, which will be handy every once in a while.1 point

Lol Reddit'd political subs are all super liberal. It's notoriously well known right now. They chased all of the conservatives off about 5-7 years ago and Reddits policies were particularly favorable to liberal subs. However, since you mentioned it, something you should know is that Reddit has more bot accounts (actual bots not reddit bots) than probably any other social media platform. There is an enormous bot army of posters and upvoters/downvoters that are state sponsored and promote specific content on the platform. For example r/antiwork is notorious for posting fake stories of employee abuse DAILY. The sub's moderators are associated with the US communist party and have admitted before that they will not allow content that doesn't ultimately benefit revolution or progress the effort to put the means of production in workers hands. Another example of reddit policies was default subs (removed in 2018). Reddit used to have default subs every user was automatically subscribed too when creating new accounts. The default subs were all super liberal subs as well. For example extreme 3rd wave feminism sub r/TwoXChromosones was a default sub and as a result has 1.2 million users now. This exposed more people to see their content but also artificially inflated their popularity leading people to believe post there were more mainstream to the public discord than they actually are. That's like everything you need to know about politics on Reddit. It's a huge echo chamber of some Uber hippies posting things to get upvotes from bots because most people dont realize they aren't real people, and it inflates their ego.1 point

I donât think youâre wrong on the bump. These things (usually) also take much longer to shake out than we think. Sept 2008 when Bear/Lehman collapse and bailouts started is when most believe was the GFC collapse. But, markets had actually peaked in late 07 and declined to their lowest point in March 09. It took a year and a half to shake out and head the other direction; with MANY crazy up and down swings in there. And it got better due to ~1.6T in stimulus. Trump and Biden combined threw ~$4T at COVID and itâs collapse lasted a few months before those injections drove a huge boom that brought us to late last year. I donât think we politically have the stomach for those bailouts again, but who knows? Pepper in some very high (for us) political discord, a war in Europe, their energy crisis, housing imploding, consumer debt getting pummeled by high interest, that same interest likely slowing the corporate-debt-funded stock buyback binge, and whatever âsupply chainâ BS companies use to gouge the shit out of us for higher profits hurting consumerismâŚwell, I donât feel too rosy going forward. But, what do I know? Best bet is to not try to time it and just keep plugging away in TSP/CIV job match and hang on for the ride. We could go back to 4500 S&P next; or below 2500. Or anything in between.1 point

I like her shirt referencing her ancestors as well. I'm sure they are proud of her work to take credit for their (her ancestors') suffering. Couldn't be more of a c u n t. Theyâre also going to make you get a shit ton of other vaccines. Also you may be ordered to fly until your death if it comes down to it. Or, if weâre all out of planes, you may be ordered to pick up a rifle and fight until you die defending your base. Or, even worse, you may be the one issuing those orders. Or maybe the orders are to kill a million civilians - including women, children, and other Christians - using nuclear weapons, which will likely cause a retaliatory attack that kills your family and friends. All for a war started by an old man that half the country doesnât agree with politically. I guess youâre cool with all those things. But getting the COVID vaccine, now thatâs a bridge too far for a Christian. So if youâre quitting because you donât want to get a shot for political reasons (religious reasons? nah), then I say adios and thanks for making the decision early. Wouldnât want to find out about it after youâve wasted years of everyoneâs effort and money getting you CMR. Good luck in civilian life, Iâm sure youâll find an airplane job if you work hard enough. Please pay your taxes.1 point

I know exactly what my service entails. America is bigger than a president, political party, or vaccine. Some people participate and actively work hard to make the military and their country better. Other people quit, have a victim complex, and cry about it from the sidelines.1 point

Lots to unpack there, but I'll give it a shot. One conservative Christian man to another...in front of everyone. A: The covid shot requirement does not take military aviation off the table for you. It might right now, but not forever. Eventually either the military will withdraw the requirement, or there will be another option of non-stem cell based vaccination (like an actually researched and studied non-emergency-use vaccine should be). It all depends on your basis for rejection. I, for one, had no defensible basis, as I happily and ignorantly received 8 rounds of the anthrax vaccine without asking twice, as I was young and stupid. That proved to be 100% risk/0% reward. Long story short, make sure you sincerely understand your basis for refusal, and that it's not just under the "I will not comply" category just because you don't like it. That's a childish defense based on ignorant emotion. If you have a sincere objection based on logic, stand firm on it, and find another way to your dream. If you say "it was my dream..." and hold that with the same hand as "I won't get the shot because..." and expect sympathy, you'll get none...at all...especially here. No one is stepping on your dream. You are holding a personal belief higher than your dream, and that's no one's choice but yours. Pick one. 2: Decide now what precisely that 'itch' is. If it's to fly, there are absolutely no all-denying barriers to you. Serious obstacles? Yes, but nothing completely stopping you. Life will suck. Pay will be low. Hours will blow. For a while. Make up your mind that you want to fly, then find a way. There. Are. Many. Even from a military background, I've yet to meet two guys with the same exact path. From the civil side, there are innumerable ways to end up in an airplane. It will heavily depend on where you're willing to live and what lifestyle you're willing to accept to get to your desired end state. Even then, the end state will change by the time you get there. Accept that as fact and your life will be easier. If you are a family man, and you want to be a pilot, your family life will suffer to some degree or another. Schedules suck. You will be away from home. You will miss birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. But you were wanting a military life...so you should have been ok with that, right? Because military life is like that, only worse: you're gone longer, to worse places, for less money, while leaving your family is bad locations away from family, and oh yeah, people may be actively trying to kill you. Decide WITH YOUR FAMILY what level of life style you're willing to accept, then get to grinding. (If you exclude your bride from that decision, you will end up divorced) D: A 'standard' civilian track can take as little as 3 years to be in the right seat of a big jet. One track: earn your CFI, teach your ass off in little airplanes, get hired by a regional/cargo feeder, then get hired by a lower tier ACMI...OR go to an aviation academy like what United is starting...OR go fly a sky tractor crop dusting...OR go fly king-airs for CBP...OR work to get hired by a fractional...OR...fly bush cargo in Anchorage...OR...the list goes on. Get to studying. As much of a dumpster fire as AirlinePilotCenter forums are, the other side of that website is pretty informational, and you can find some pretty good data in the forums if you're willing to wade through the BS. Decide that no job is beneath you, and you'll be fine. If you choose the millennial attitude that some jobs are just too hard or too underpaid or too dirty, then yeah, your 'itch' will never be scratched, and you will be forever limited. If you choose that road, that's no one's fault but your own. If they say you need a vaccine to get the job, and you quit looking, that's your fault, not theirs. In short: Nut up or Shut up. There is no better time to get into aviation. Decide what you will or won't do, then get to work. P.S. I dis-recommend SE Asia. That results in a different kind of 'itch' that I've heard never goes away.1 point
-
I recommend going to SE Asia or Eastern Europe and meeting a few nice ladies for starters. You will get an itch to scratch. Was that snarky enough? There are other piloting jobs outside of the military but they may ask you to take the shot as well. If you hold off a few years the shot will more than likely be less politicized and you could try to join again. The military makes people get shots. Even useless ones. They made me go 20 years without hitting the crack pipe. Some people can't make it that long with those silly rules. Cough, cough, Hunter B. USN. Political enough? Welcome to the internet. Lol1 point
