  1. No sympathy here. Many other countries have much harsher penalties than here(I'm sure you know that) She deserves the time that the country she's caught in sees fit. She could get twice that in Mexico. I'm thinking about sending her a CD with 47 versions of the National Anthem.

  2. During that time period lots of E-8's and 7's who made sure to go class C for dental or carpal tunnel when it was their turn to deploy. Then they got directed they will deploy or get out and marked down on their board scores for never been deployed in their 20 year career. That is when we saw the rash of guys who brought nothing to the fight but making themselves a pain in ass. Spent their time being uniform haircut police and writing each other bronze stars so they can make E-9.

  3. AF: Here is your issued Boonie hat. You have to bring it because it's on the mandatory packing list. Also AF (in country): You can not wear that Boonie hat...here is the memo stating so. True story. DOD: No PT gear in your deployed location, just duty uniforms or civies...don't even bring PT gear. *Guard unit gets moved to new location in AOR to stand up AOG, things are going great...then AD shows up* AD Chief: why are your people in civies and not AF PT gear? AFI blah blah blah says duty uniform or pt gear...no civies. Also true story.

  4. Many wonderful memories indeed. Informative to watch peers bifurcate into two broad command types: 1. Extreme focus on minutia of irrelevant things, especially uniform regulations, while excluding core topics like mission execution or individual competence in primary job. These are the “mission takes care of itself” types. 2. Extreme focus on team, mission and people but uninterested in “hands in pockets” or “sleeves rolled up” non-lethality impacting nuance. Type 1 is the dominant breed, although type 2 does exist. I am naïvely hoping for a collective moment of clarity by senior leaders acknowledging we suffered a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan and maybe that means we should change something about ourselves. Maybe we should focus on winning instead of fashion since the Taliban won wearing a non-uniform collection of sheets, rugs and shitty white Nikes.

  5. Not a tall tale at all. The EVS generated a certain amount of disturbance around the pitot tubes so the post-EVS Buff has a .84 indicated Mach limit. I believe it was .91 prior. Maybe we’ll get a little speed back, though as a downward firing ejector, I appreciated having the FLIR for orientation.

  7. E-9 Stories? Manas in January: I deployed with no winter outer gear. I'd load up on thermals with just my flight suit. Best thing I eventually got was a summer weight green nomex jacket that they had to mail out to me. Shockingly, never get E-9'd for that...but I would normally layer up my PTs since it was warmer. I had the recently outdated grey PT sweatshirt that said "Air Force" instead of the new one with the AF logo. I wasn't in the chow hall for more than 60 seconds before I got told I couldn't wear that. Yeap, young LT me wasn't having any of that. Surprised I never got talked to later for basically telling the dude to go ef himself since it was -15*F outside and I wasn't taking off the only warm freaking thing I had on the deployment.

  8. I got Chiefed for cutting the chin string off of my boonie hat. This was in 2003 as we were invading Iraq. I saw another dude get Chiefed for not wearing his ID on his arm as he was eating at the chow hall. He had just finished flying in Iraq. This was around March - April 2003 time frame as well. We were literally invading Iraq and all the Chief cared about was an ID card on an arm. We were flying every day with min ground time. Barely had time eat. I've always wanted to thank that Chief for keeping us safe in the chow hall during those crazy times.

  9. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. They are really going to the next level of ludicrous speed with the child trans movement. I'd like to confidently say there is no way this will pass but we all know what is possible with so many nutjobs making laws. Teenagers don't have the mental capacity to be making these decisions. If they aren't mature enough to watch a rated R movie then maybe they shouldn't be allowed to make decisions to mutilate their bodies on a whim. They can't even get a sweet tribal tattoo until they're 18.

  10. Agreed. I think Hamill, the MLB, etc. are dumb for their reaction to the GA voting bill, but they are more than welcome to speak their mind and take their business elsewhere. I certainly do both all the time - lots of businesses these days I choose not to give my money to.

  11. Some dumbassery by the Army as a Commander Bans Army-Issued Warm, Comfy Fleece Jacket as Winter Approaches. This brings back some wonderful memories from down range and will likely remind some USAF douchenuts that it is time impose some useless directives to screw with deployed folks.

  12. I imagine Scott, Bob, and Ed got together at the evil airline CEO lair with a meeting chaired by Doug, and now Scott and Ed are just waiting for Bobbo to shove a crappy TA down to the weakest union to make bargaining easier at the other two.

  13. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ex-marine-corps-harrier-pilot-who-worked-in-china-has-been-arrested I guess this guy didn't get the memo that he was supposed to be a double-agent before (allegedly) helping the Chinese...

  15. Preach. I've heard too many new balance wearing, iphone holster toting, cheapskate airline left seaters try to explain how I can dodge taxes through creative residency, airbnb'ing my own house, or other such interstate tax nonsense. I'm not buying. Don't mess with IRS...especially not with those extra 87,000 agents who are specifically targeted at exactly our demographic. Post year-one airline pilots make a metric ton of money. Pay your taxes, or give it to charity to lower your tax bill. If you're having a hard time living within your means, go visit Dave Ramsey.

  16. given a bunch of 'em russian fuckos got mad radiation poisoning/ARS at Chernobyl months back by digging up/kicking up the hell out of the Red Forest, my guess is they'll do just as well with their little false flag operation. The world would stand to gain by finding a bullet to the head of that KGB megalomaniac and his authoritarian swan song. slava ukraini.

  20. We stupidly got ourselves into a situation where Taiwan has the lion’s share of semiconductor manufacturing. Allowing China to control that monopoly would be a disaster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Good luck, it’s a blast! In flying Draco for ~5 years we went through 4 significant block upgrades of hardware, 4 major software updates for our main mission management setup, about a dozen smaller software updates (smaller still being 20+ new/changes features), and innumerable other random permutations of datalinks, new radios, etc. etc. Blended fleets are great 🤪 Flying the MQ-9 last week, I found out my sensor operator had never flown a block 1 aircraft before yet there we were, flying one, no restriction against it. Glad we didn’t have an EP, his ability to assist with the checklists would have been significantly degraded lol. Y’all will do great flying the Buff past her 100th year in service I’m sure 😎

  22. I am really surprised our liberal friends on the board have not celebrated this proposal by one of their own. Virginia Democrat to Introduce Bill to Prosecute Parents Who Refuse to Treat Child as Opposite Sex In summary if the bill passes a parent could be charged with felony child abuse if a did not honor their minor child's request to be treated as the opposite sex. So if I don't consent to give my 14 year old puberty blockers that will permanently change their bodies I should go to jail. WTF...seriously WTF is wrong with you.
