  1. The world should be worried : Saudi Armaco - the world's largest oil producer has issued a dire warning over "Extremely Low" capacity. “When you erode that spare capacity the world should be worried. There will be no space for any hiccup — any interruption, any unforeseen events anywhere around the world.” Good the the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is full....oh wait.

  2. I mean it’s not objectively fast, but it drives fast/fun. Kinda like your mom…she’s not actually hot but it all pretty much feels the same on the inside 😁

  5. They are starting to report the missiles were tracked from launch to impact by airborne NATO aircraft and they think it was a Ukrainian missile attempting to intercept a Russian missile.

  6. Considering how blue the southern shit hole portion of the state is, as well as the shit hole metro areas are, plus the fact that Be(a)to(ff) actually garnered 43.8% of the vote versus Abbott's 54.8%; that statistic still gives me hope. God bless Texas!

  7. Trump’s political window has ended. The 2016 campaign was unique, because Hilary was despised by many more than him. Since his first term, and the years since then, the voters he needs (youth and suburban moms) will not vote for Trump. It benefits no one, besides his ego, to keep him in the conversation. His schtick has gotten old and tired. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  8. The Republicans need him out of the picture entirely. If he runs on a third party ticket he’ll split the conservative vote and sink the Republican candidate. That’s their main problem for the foreseeable future. They’ve created this monster and actively courted a voting block that would’ve been shunned in years prior. Now they can’t win without that block and it makes it really hard (giggidy) to push Trump and candidates like him out. I agree that DeSantis can appeal to a good portion of the Trump crowd, but if the Donald actively turns on him, he’s screwed. The Republicans have opened Pandora’s box & sold the soul of their party to win an election. Time to reap the whirlwind. And before anyone accuses me of gloating, I’m not. I want to see strong, high quality Republicans because that’ll force the Democrats to up their game too. Unfortunately, if the D’s see a split Republican ticket, they’ll have no motivation whatsoever to change the status quo.

  9. I think another big reason for the wave in FL is all the people who have moved there in the past couple years fleeing dumpster fire states ran by Dems. They know how bad it is to live in a state with shit policies, so they voted accordingly. I really hope Desantis runs and Trump exits stage right (forced if required). The biggest problem besides his ego preventing a clean exit is the 60+ crowd in the GOP who keep feeding his ego. They are equally responsible for continuing to push the “Trump 2024” mantra.

  10. In another life I and 569 others were hired to cross a picket line. None did and the union rewarded us with a decent check even though we were not yet members. Once the strike settled the company offered the 570 jobs. Stand behind the union and it will take care of you.

  12. I guess the next AZ gov won just like Biden won, just stay in basement and run from your opponent. I'm done. I no hope for my country when the young people vote the least common denominator. Cut your nuts off, sew your vagina up, kill the next generation in the womb, my body my choice except when it comes to covid vacs. Call for farming to end while you're wearing clothes made out of cotton.

  15. Zuck was trying to get out of the spotlight by running ads putting the blame on the government, when that failed he changed the platform name. Some very interesting items buried int he SEC report including a research study Facebook Manipulation that shows just how and biased the platform is. Something has to change and 230 needs serious modification or elimination. We will just ignore the $400M he dumped into shaping local elections. This nerd has far too much say in shaping your life.

  16. https://popehat.substack.com/p/section-230-is-the-subject-of-the From Popehat "Very simply put, Section 230 is the law that says that, if I post something defamatory on Twitter, the victim can sue me, but not Twitter. It also says, again put simply, that Twitter has the right to moderate stuff on its site as it sees fit. The language of Section 230 is fairly clear, for something written by Congress. There is very little controversy amongst actual courts about what it means. The legal impact of Section 230 has been well-established by courts for decades, and efforts to evade it have been consistently rejected. Audio form: https://legaltalknetwork.com/podcasts/make-no-law/2019/08/deplatformed-social-media-censorship-and-the-first-amendment/ You really like reading? https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20200531/23325444617/hello-youve-been-referred-here-because-youre-wrong-about-section-230-communications-decency-act.shtml I will agree that tech companies inconsistently enforce their terms of service. However, it is unlikely that giving the government more power to regulate the internet will do anything to improve that.

  17. I don't think Facebook/Google/Twitter are doing anything different than any other large multinational company. They are doing things traditional news and media outlets already do. This is old news, Google did the same thing in Europe, and prevailed there. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in Australia. What the news outlets (really, Murdoch has been pushing this issue internationally) want is for Facebook to pay anytime it links to a news site in its news feed. So if a headline is shown with a link to a news site on Facebook, that news site wants Facebook to pay them for use of the headline. Even though the news site increases its visibility and likely the number of people going to their site by showing up on the Facebook newsfeed. All Facebook is saying is that they don't want to buy the link from the news site, and removed the links it would otherwise have to pay for in Australia. Facebook is not blocking anything; it's choosing not to buy a product from another company and provide it as a (free) service on Facebook. Australians are free to navigate to the news site directly and still obtain the news. The safety aspect mentioned in the article (emergency alerts) is a red herring. Essential emergency government services should not rely on a platform they have no contract with not pay to provide a service (in other words, no control over services provided to them by a business), because their access can be cut off without notice. Sure, try to be where the people are, but it shouldn't be the sole method of emergency alerts. A corporation that large, with the amount of money the big tech has (and not just big tech, but in other sectors as well), wields a significant amount of power and influence. This influence includes the market, and government. What's missing from this conversation is how much reach and influence traditional media outlets *already* have, and how it's lobbying to keep that influence and profit. I'm curious how this would affect smaller news aggregators; will they go out of business since they may not be able to afford paying to include outside news links on their site?
