Was not selected this year, first attempt. - 99 PCSM - 86 Pilot - No PPL - 4 of 4 in SQ, unknown WG strat My next attempt will require an age waiver. Areas of improvement: - Better bullets - More leadership roles - PPL I'm disappointed, but mostly in myself. There was some extremely high competition this year, and I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to go for this board. I made them say "no", and will keep doing so until I'm politely shown the door. Until then, I'm recaged and motivated to see this through. Congratulations to all selectees!6 points

It's almost like people can't be put into two categories with pre-ordained beliefs spelled out. Yet somehow most Americans act like that's exactly the reality. Turns out that when people think there are only two opposing teams competing, they cheer/donate/vote/campaign/rage far more than if they believe there are many teams with varying overlaps.4 points

While I think what Trump did was wrong, when it comes to the law I think there is certainly some nuance that has to be worked through in the courts. POTUS is the declassification authority and while I disagree with the "he can declassify just by thinking about it" argument, the process is not codified in law. I don't buy into the spin about the subpoena, again a lot of nuance given Presidential records, not defending his actions just saying the law is not clear. Also, he did exactly what they requested with regard to securing the material at Mara Lago. With regard to the law, Biden is in real jeopardy if the AG follow the law (highly doubtful). Trump as POTUS had legal authority to have those documents while in office, Biden as VP did NOT! Intent and context DOES matter. Lets peel that back a bit since you brought it up. 1. As VP he did not have a right to that material, you think it was a simple mistake VERY classified materiel has been found in two locations? It seems like you are willing to employ the Joy Behar standard "Joe is not a crook so we should give him the benefit of the doubt"....Ahhh NO! He has other facilities and homes, out of an abundance of caution, shouldn't those sites be searched? 2. The context of the material is also VERY important and feed to a bigger issue that has been suppressed by the left for two years. Initial reports indicate the material related to China/Russia/Ukraine from the time period when Hunter was being paid buckets of cash to work for Burisma. At what point to you acknowledge there is enough smoke we might want to look for a fire. 3. Your example about the dude having SCI in a bag is interesting, I too have seen this scenario. The CONTEXT of the Biden situation is VERY concerning. Trump's material was stored at a facility protected by the Secret Service. Biden's material was in a closet at the Penn Center, a facility paid for by the Chinese government. They won't open the books on that organization (more smoke), and it is entirely possible Chinese foreign nationals had access to that facility. 4. Are you not concerned about the timing of this story. This was discovered BEFORE the Mid-terms. The AG and others kept it quiet until this week, with reports indicating they were going to continue to keep it quiet but someone in the press was tipped off about the cover up. Absolutely criminal to keep this from the American people before an election. 5. When hanging your hat on the intent argument you again bring Hillary back into the spotlight. 33,000 emails purposely destroyed. TS/SCI SAP PURPOSELY moved to an unclassified server where it was likely scooped up by the Chinese AND Russians, no accountability. As usual, the left has no problems with a double standard. ***UPDATE*** The second batch of classified was found next to his Corvette in his garage! His retort, "it was a locked garage". UFB!4 points

So I sat down with my Gp/CC today to get feedback about what he thinks happened (why Iower stratted guys from the wing got picked up with objectively worse packages). Best guess is it was more subjective based on letter of rec and personal letter. The other 2 have stronger bullets by virtue of simply doing the job longer. We are all the same AFSC, but I've been operational only a year, they've been operational 2-3 years. He didn't sugarcoat it, he says mine was "more fluff" because I just didn't have as many things I could say yet. I'm glad I got feedback from him. He doesn't know what AFPC specifically looked at but that's his best guess because all of my scores and numbers on the AF215 were better than theirs. It's encouraging that all I have to do is continue doing my job well for the next year and accumulate stronger bullets. If anybody is confused, I recommend getting feedback! Edit: he also said he would look into the alternate process and would get back to me with any info. I'll pass that along on here when he does!2 points

I do live my life differently because of the realities of the world. First and foremost, I pay attention to what's happening in the world, and I vote for people whom I believe will respond to those issues responsibly with the best interest of our country in mind. Unfortunately, my candidates did not win recently, and it appears that we have a large section of the country who doesn't very much like our country, but that's a different topic. I also try to live a sustainable life, so if the lights go off because of an EMP, or a simply a network/grid shutdown, my family and I will survive. My kids may group up in suburbia, but they will not be dependent on suburbia. Moreover, I am raising my kids to be adults who are aware of the world around them, and to understand how to filter out the ignorant opinions that media, politicians, Karens, and internet forums will spew at them. My kids great up overseas for some time. They understand why the US is truly amazing and unique in it's liberties and freedoms. Understanding the real threats in the world is definitely impacting how I raise my kids, and I value my parenting task as possibly the most important and world changing thing I might do in my life. If my kids impact a single life because of wisdom they learned in childhood, it'll have been worth it. Beyond that, I study facts and history. The American way of international relations since WWII has been to make sure other country's problems stay in other countries. You call Ukraine a quagmire for Russia. It wouldn't be a quagmire without US involvement. If you don't understand that, go read about Chinese involvement in Vietnam, or US involvement in 1980's Afghanistan, or the French Foreign Legion, or how Rome ran it's empire. History is littered with precedent. The reason America is what it is today is because we (typically) refuse to wait until the fight comes to us. If you don't think Russia would love to kneecap the US, think again. It wouldn't occur in the ways many imagine with conventional forces and red dawn, but rather with infiltration, espionage, and subterfuge. Read about Gorbachev's or China's plans and actions with infiltration agents in the US. Bottom line is that Americans cannot stick their head in the sand and pretend like all these world problems can't hurt us. Will it largely impact how I cook my eggs in the morning, probably not...unless this whole gas stove stupidity changes that. But hey, I am intentionally not buying an EV because I've read and personally seen with my own eyes how corrupt and horrid that supply chain is for the earth and our own economy. So, yeah, there are decisions I make routinely that are impacted by the international environment. However, just because you don't see a difference in your own personal day to day doesn't mean that there's nothing happening, or that personal decisions don't make a different. We ALL have blind spots. Some we choose, others we simply have for any number of reasons. Do not conflate your chosen personal blind spot with the reality of the world.2 points

Facts don't care about your feelings. Russia, China and North Korea are all run by cults of personality. If history tells us one thing about that kind of governing system, it's that the only predictable long term outcome is chaos and sadness. No ground truth is making it out of those countries concerning just how close-hold, or hair trigger the nuclear forces really are. Just because you don't know about it, doesn't mean the threat isn't there. Three highly narcissistic and insolated-from-truth men hold the keys to some seriously powerful weapons. Are you happy to simply ignore that? You're ok saying "I can't see the threat so it doesn't exist"?2 points

I can't speak for anyone else, but I truly had a "come to Jesus" moment regarding my work performance and what it's going to take to become what the AF needs its pilots to be. I believe the PPL shows the board that you're serious, have "skin in the game", and willing to burn your own cash down to pursue what's essentially a more difficult job for the same pay. It'll also avoid having to go to IFT, saving the AF money and allows the pipeline for training to be slightly more streamlined.1 point

LMAO...They, AFPC, told me, "We will be reaching out via email if any slots open up. We should have all declinations by end of Jan and will be working backfills during Feb. If we get to you, you should hear from us by the end of Feb."1 point

Have you seen the shit Ronna has been pulling at the RNC? If it’s true, she needs to be replaced yesterday. Sounds like she is only in it for herself enrichment and luxury. That swamp monster needs to be replaced if they want to start making a difference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

That's really helpful for expectation management! I feel like someone declining their pilot slot would be rare though. I assumed the alternates would be more for those who medically DQ. But they won't know who failed MFS until after February I would imagine.1 point
-
I found out today that 20 of the 26 alternates are UPT. They wouldn't tell me rack and stack or how many of the 6 left are CSO, ABM, or URT. They said they will have all declinations by end of January and will work on filling slots through February and if picked up from the alternate list I will know by end of February.1 point

He is, but not for now. I think he will be eventually, the DNC has to get rid of him and they seem to have their shit together much better than the RNC at current. The classified files shit is the beginning of putting Biden out to pasture. ABC attacked the whitehouse spokesperson today. That is new. They are putting him down gently. And here's what's not new: the RNC continues to let Trump storm all over the Republican party. If the RNC can't put that asswipe away, we're going to be in for yet another 4 years of not Biden, but a democrat president.1 point

I understand your point. But that has been a fact of life for my entire lifetime. I remember being in class in gradeschool where they marched us into the auditorium and we watched the wall come down in 89. After all of the duck and cover drills. Its like a lot of other things, eventually I started scratching my head and asking why were we doing this? So again, are you living in mortal fear day in and day out of Russia? No. No you are not. This flare up is not going to result in nuclear annihilation. So back to my point...is your life going to change if we don't give a nickel to the corrupt s in Ukraine? No. No it isn't. And I'm not picking on Ukraine. Is your life going to change if you don't give a nickel to the corrupt s in Washington? No.1 point

That depends ENTIRELY on the state of that internal collapse. If it's replaced by a real parliamentary government (I have to laugh at that idea...but I've also heard complex and plausible options for that...), it is POSSIBLE that the US and that government could work together to contain and control the spread of nuclear arms. In any case, the Russian nuclear forces are populated by individuals who also don't want nukes randomly distributed and controlled. I have a LITTLE faith in them to try and limit distribution. One factoid should stand out to everyone in this situation though: Russia was expecting to roll over Ukraine, as was the rest of the world. They aren't, and they're having a very tough time...with UKRAINE. Not USA, not UK, the Ukraine. With the current state of Russian forces now known, it is clear that if Russian forces directly engage NATO forces for any reason, Russian military and political leadership KNOWS their only option for military victory is nuclear. That's scary.1 point

Sorry to hear that you weren’t picked up AD, however if you do get selected by a Guard unit, you’ll be forever grateful you weren’t selected AD. Having said that, it’s gonna be a bit tougher considering your age. Declining an RPA assignment won’t hurt you in the least. The fact you already have your waivers will help a lot in the interview process as well. So now the process is like anybody else out there. Go find the units you’re interested in. Get to know them, and start applying. You do have also have the advantage of being a C-130 Nav and there’s lots of H model guard units out there still who are perpetually short on Nav’s. You could always roll the dice and get a Nav job and hope they’ll make you a pilot. It’s a bit of a risk though as they may want to keep you as a Nav. Either way, I’m certain you’ll be much happier. Best of luck.1 point

Usually if you are a late to rate guy/ girl or Captain and above you don’t have to stay on base. Most training pipelines have their in processing guides readily available online as well. Assignments start being worked by AFPC after public release.1 point

Dude this kind of shit infuriates me. Congress passed a law, it's signed by the President, it directs the DoD to do X,Y, or Z. The DoD then fails to take any action, can't update AFIs in a timely fashion, provides vague or no business rule guidance or policy memos, and then just fucking gets away with it sometimes for YEARS. If I were a Congressman I would unscrew heads and start shitting down necks until the law was implemented. This same thing has happened with the 2021 NDAA expanded baby leave on the Guard side. I've literally been told I (and quite a few other guys in my unit) fall into an "unfortunate Catch-22" that prevents us from taking the leave...it's shenanigans. We had babies (well, our wives did, thanks dear!), we earned the leave, but we can't take it, what kind of fuckery is that? Our local-level commanders are pissed and sympathetic, but they are hamstrung by MAJCOM and NGB nonners who are saying it can't be done. An officer's job, IMHO, is to receive intent from his/her superiors all the way up to the NCA, and then apply his/her knowledge, skills, leadership, creativity and ingenuity in order to meet that intent with appropriate effects on the battlefield, however that is defined for your career field. Somehow every single one (ok, to be fair, 99.69%) of our personnelists and finance officers seems to have missed that very important lesson from their commissioning source and subsequent PME. As a group, they are pedantic, lawyerly, miserly bean counter shoe clerks who treat every single dollar as if it's coming out of their own personal wallet and scour every single potentially beneficial personnel policy for loopholes and ways they can fuck people over rather than implementing the intent of the policy as written. /rant off1 point

I think there's a legitimate Arsenal of Democracy case to me made on top of the realpolitik aspect. It just feels damned nice, for once in the past seventy years or so, to be on the side of a no shit more or less democratic and free people who are more than willing to put their own asses in the firing line on behalf of their country. We've spent trillions and tens of thousands of American lives in defense of people who couldn't find the will to fight for their country with two hands and a map. What a cruel joke it would be if we gave the Afghans our support for twenty years but couldn't be bothered to help Ukraine.1 point

See our previous discussion. I do not believe either party is remotely serious about tackling national debt. Conservatives like to rattle that cage, but watch what they do, not what they say. So, no, I do not believe national debt should play any meaningful role in this debate.1 point

You are a weird dude. Don't take that the wrong way. You are a flaming liberal ok take the flaming off but you are definitely a liberal, and yet you are more self sufficient and have more know how and are actually doing self sufficient things than anyone on here. A lot of people could learn from you. your political leanings, those are right out, but you have a hell of a lot to offer in terms of self sufficiency. I'm sure you have a load to offer in other things but this one thing I picked up on.0 points

And oddly enough if Trump just had a better disposition we would be taking about the start of his 7th year and how he is one of the greatest. Instead we are trying to prop up a mannequin and hope no one notices he has on no clothes. I thought it would be insanely difficult to be a worse president than Carter. Biden surpassed that mark in the first year. Oh oh oh but Jan 6th…..-1 points

You started so well. The “bomb” you’re referencing is the pipe bomb that someone hid near the DNC? The one the FBI, in a city with probably the most cameras per capita in the US, can’t seem to figure out who planted it. Nah, smells like a Fed op… Babbitt was out of line, sure. But not “clean kill” out of line. Especially with riot cops literally 10 feet behind her. So I guess we’ll disagree on this point… Seek help. Is that like “do better”?-1 points
