Bill was a good stick. Even going past 90 a couple times he pulled out smooth(STS) I have a picture of 02s g meter on my computer at work it's pegged. Guess whos crew flew it's next flight since we were FCF qualified. The co wore his chute the whole flight. The shiny things are popped rivets. Later on back at HRT when the medals were awarded 02s crew got DFCs, our crew got the Air Medal. I joked with Bill that if he had over geed our airplane we would have got DFCs too.3 points

I'll disagree. The core of the problem here is that our president claims a personal belief that, in practice he so shuns that some practitioners of that believe system refuse to include him. Imagine a pilot you fly with that claims to be a good pilot, but is in fact entirely dangerous, and you refuse to fly with him. Personal preferences aside: It speaks strongly of our president's character, or lack thereof. He plays a key role in running our country and setting policy. What he does in private AND public flows from the same set of life rules, coherent or not. I'm pretty sure we should all give at least a little notice to his character.2 points

Biden has apparently had dementia since he started his career as a politician. Among other gems coming out of the current President's mouth, Regan never claimed to be arrested visiting Nelson Mandela. Regan didn't lie consistently about his life experiences. Regan didn't have a son named Hunter smoking crack, making porn and using the name Regan to make business deals. The Bidens are scum.2 points

It was time to put away the homemade wine as I was about to enter crew rest for what would be the most memorable flight of my career. This was the third mission of the war for us. A snippet from this book https://www.amazon.com/Ghostriders-1976-1995-William-Walter-ebook/dp/B09VQWY5RP/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid&sr&fbclid=IwAR1vELr1aoqfQjbqO5BywaXVt7DDWvGiBeBh9ZuJL-V4stML3whaaGOFpAY On the evening of January 21, mission planners began tasking AC-130s identically as they did for fighters as two AC-130s were assigned to 30x30 nautical mile “kill boxes.” On this night, weather was good and both crews were advised there would be a fighter CAP available in their working areas. Ghost 02, commanded by Capt P.L. took off first in Grave Digger and proceeded to their target area in south central Iraq.23 Within their assigned kill box was an Iraqi command and control center, which was expected to be protected with AAA. About an hour later, Ghost 03 commanded by Capt Preaskorn took off in Bad Company, en route to their target area. I was on Ghost 031 point

No worries, I'm not attacking you or Biden...and none of what you typed was distressing to me. I definitely agree with you that if a person chooses religion as a great foundation for living a good and moral life - that is a very very good thing.1 point

Hypocrisy, lunacy, Irony...maybe all three. You simply can't make this crap up. FBI Agent who led Trump-Russia probe arrested for providing assistance to Russian Oligarch and violating Russian sanctions!1 point

I mostly agree with you. My faith is very personal to me and not governed by a few radicals, but discussing here is even more futile than politics. I'd say this is a bit more than "sloppy". Items from his time in the senate (that can only be viewed in a SCIF), found in his homeS. How did they get out of the SCIF? Items from his time as VP (he is not the classification authority) found in his homeS. Again how did they get out of the SCIF or his office. And even though they assured us "there's no there there" and he has "no regrets", the FBI found even MORE classified today. Why didn't the FBI conduct the first searches? Why were his uncleared lawyers allowed to search? Why was he allowed to return to the potential scene of a crime? Where they keep finding classified? Why did they hide this for MONTHS? One or two items is sloppy, but they have found classified at every location they have searched. This situation has gone far beyond sloppy and clearly crossed into coverup territory.1 point

Nope. When actions don't meet words, the actions tell the truth. When that happens a lot, we call those people politicians. National figures have been abusing religion to try and gain support since the beginning of time. Because we've been told what the absolute truth is (we ultimately are judged by God, and go to heaven and the new earth, or hell. If we've not established a personal relationship with Christ Jesus and accepted his salvation, we go to hell...which I'm guessing looks a lot like earth without God). Most people just don't want to accept that when they hear it because it's uncomfortable, truly incomprehensible (he's a God who exists in what to us seems like paradox), and exposes that ultimate of truths: We are not in control. Probably task misprioritization of some type, with likely several CFs leading to that.1 point

I’ve participated in a few of these types of air shows, warbirds of all kinds, plus modern stuff. I just did a single ship C-141 demo, and no other aircraft were part of my demo, but I was privy to all the briefs etc. Here’s the problem as I see it, #1. The inexperienced Airboss, making changes on the fly. Dumb. Remember there are 8 to 10 aircraft flying by at different altitudes and intervals, so for the viewers on the ground, it looks exciting and there’s zero need to jazz up the show by attempting to maneuver the fighters closer in. #2. I’m a Member of EAA Warbirds, and I would say most of the pilots are NOT ex-military, but they are very experienced. I can’t vouch for their formation skills and currency or training. #3. The briefings I attended were professional, in-depth, detailed, and clear. There was no confusion. We all understood The Airboss was in charge, but the amount of chatter on the frequency was minimal. There was way too much talking and instruction “on the fly” by this Airboss than at any show I ever flew in. For the record, I flew a C-141 demo flight at about 6 air shows from 1997-2001. The big Warbird show was at the “Wings of Eagles” Airshow in Elmira NY. There are Youtube videos.1 point

...from a completely different perspective: I punched from AD at 17 years and am about to finish my 3rd good year in the AFRC. I AM NOT GOING ON ORDERS. I just rolled into year two at my major airline, and you would have to throw 7-figures+ a year at me to get me to go active for 3 more years. The BS level is simply not worth it, and the arithmetic is a wash on that active retirement.1 point

This has been a pretty common misconception by many of my squadron mates. The only ones who come back on orders, are the guys who are within 5 years of their 20. The rest have gotten a taste of the QOL and are now DSGs for life. It's funny is seeing the "I'm never going to the airline" types, especially the ones who gave airline guys shit, who are now DSG for life because of how good the QOL is for them. Unfortunately, I had to go on orders in early December and I forgot how bad being full time sucks. I've worked more in the last two months than I did in the last 5 months of 2022 at Delta...never mind the massive pay hit. I guess if all I did was show up, fly and go home, it wouldn't be terrible. But I don't think people realize how much of life in the military is fighting one self-imposed (by the AF) roadblock after another. It's completely maddening and what makes me dread getting up and going to work almost every day right now. It's something you don't grasp until you have a job where all you have to do is fly and you're not constantly fighting just to get basic shit done. Then the huge added benefit is that you don't take work home with you! The end of these orders can't get here fast enough! I'm nothing close to a weapons officer, but "it depends..." My recommendation to all our young guys is that if you even think you may to the airlines at some point, I'd get hired ASAP because seniority is everything. If you're within 5 years of a 20 year retirement, depending on how far you'll go for orders, then I'd imagine it wouldn't be all that hard to get to 20 while out on MLOA. Lots of orders floating around the system...ask Brabus1 point

It certainly helps. Remember, we hire our pilots for the long haul, no regular PCS’ing, so we prioritize getting the right fit. Typically applications are lower at heavy units, but they are looking for the right guy as well, as they obviously spend much more time on the road together. I can’t stress it enough…Get to know the Squadron you’re hoping to get hired with.1 point

You're right. And I don't know why you think I'm butt-hurt by it. I simply pointed out that... based on my experiences in both worlds... he hadn't seen it from both sides and wasn't in a position to make a valid observation. No emotion here. I don't know Brabus but have enjoyed reading his posts for many years. If your questions, Hindsight, are aimed at me, I'm sorry but I'm not willing to discuss the specifics of this event or my opinions on it. p.s. "notch/autochaff"? Know your audience. I'm a U-2 guy. In a defensive scenario, we put our fingers in our ears so the explosion of the missile impact doesn't give us hearing loss... which could affect our future airline employment.1 point

Apples and oranges. How do you claim "far greater risks" when you have no experience doing the warbird thing so that you can compare the two? You can't, so don't. Generically, there IS a pre-briefed decon plan with contracts. Generically, the Boss acts as an air traffic controller when he needs to and let's the parade progress as briefed.1 point

You are a weird dude. Don't take that the wrong way. You are a flaming liberal ok take the flaming off but you are definitely a liberal, and yet you are more self sufficient and have more know how and are actually doing self sufficient things than anyone on here. A lot of people could learn from you. your political leanings, those are right out, but you have a hell of a lot to offer in terms of self sufficiency. I'm sure you have a load to offer in other things but this one thing I picked up on.1 point
