The last, missing part should be, after 1 hr of sitting in EOR: “we just went to 300, launch now!”…#4’s gear isn’t even up when, “hey it’s the SOF on AUX, we just went below mins, divert the 8 ship to Tokyo.” 100% true story.4 points

Yes, he meant JRTOC ranks and I disagree. It is a military based leadership program that teaches both leadership and followership, there is a purpose to ranks in that model that has been proven over a thousand years.3 points

To be honest, yeah I am, for stupid shit like flight suit sleeves, reflective belts, PT gear while deployed, and masks. I do plenty of the other stupid shit like useless CBTs, show up 6.9 hrs early for the rotator, 1206s, and a thousand other things I didn’t like/disagreed with. It’s called critically thinking and being OK with living in the gray (and that’s what wins fights, not zero critical thought yes men). But none of that’s important, what’s important is you’re like every shitty E-9 who has zero critical thinking skills and touts illogical shit like, “if you can’t tuck your PT shit in, how can I trust you to drop a bomb.” You’re willing to Art 15 people over nonsensical bullshit that has zero impact on mission accomplishment. I’ll give you one thing though, you are completely owning it and making it easy to know what kind of a person you are.2 points

We are so bifurcated by the pundits that have to assume everything the other guy/girl does is wrong. I can't stand Biden, but he got this one right and I will certainly give credit where credit is due.2 points

show me on the doll where JROTC touched you FLEA between transgender/LGBTQ+++++ agenda and diversity/equity/inclusion woke agenda....JROTC is WAY down the list on any harm being caused to children. left leaning people are castrating children in the name of trans acceptance. JROTC isn't the issue.1 point

I'll take a stab at it. H.R.25 (the Fair Tax Act) would be a good solution in my opinion, but Pres. Biden has threatened to veto it if it passes. If you aren't yet aware, the Fair Tax has been proposed in Congress regularly since around 2005 but has never seen a vote. The Democrats/mainstream media try to paint it as a 30% regressive tax that will increase the middle-class tax burden. But if you read the actual bill, you'll find out why it's never seen a vote and why politicians hate it so much: it takes lobbyist money out of their pockets and takes away the control they exert with the IRS. The bill completely does away with the incompetent IRS (which fails to collect a TRILLION dollars of owed taxes each year: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-treasury-irs/irs-chief-says-1-trillion-in-taxes-goes-uncollected-every-year-idUSKBN2C0255) which costs over $12 billion to fund each year. This means there will be no federal income tax or payroll taxes withheld from your paycheck and you won't have to file federal taxes each year (it gets rid of capital gains taxes as well). The Fair Tax is also progressive in the sense that everyone (every registered household) will receive a monthly prebate (rebate) check to cover purchases of necessities up to the federal poverty level. This effectively makes the tax rate 0% up to the poverty level and then it staggers up to 23% based on what you buy. This is key because it encourages saving money and purchasing used goods since the tax will only be levied on new goods and services. You are now in control of your tax rate based on what you choose to buy or not buy. The Fair Tax would get rid of tens of thousands of pages of IRS tax code and replace it with 100-200 pages of tax code. Politicians don't like it because it closes all the tax loopholes people like Warren Buffet and Donald Trump use to pay less taxes than middle-class Americans. It also get rid of corporate (and export) taxes (which only get passed through to the consumer anyway). This will bring businesses and jobs back to American soil because there will be no reason to move them offshore any longer (except maybe wages for labor). It is also fair because everyone (regardless of income) pays the same rate. This is important because we are recently seeing a huge jump in rich people moving overseas to avoid taxation (https://calbizjournal.com/why-wealthy-people-are-giving-up-their-american-citizenship/). Also, it will potentially bring in more money because all the people that don't pay taxes now (career criminals, undocumented immigrants, pimps, etc.) will then be paying sales tax at the register for new goods/services. Most states are already equipped to collect sales tax so it won't be a huge transition. I wish people would spin the monthly prebate checks as "reparations" because then lots more people might support it. 🙂 Wikipedia has a lot of the details regarding the amount of the prebate checks, etc.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairTax.1 point

Be careful with long bonds. The entire market is pricing in the defeat of inflation by early 2024. If the narrative shifts to entrenched inflation (got a little taste of that fear today), all bets are off with bonds. Tbills, however, are a fantastic deal right now1 point

That's your "expected class date" but it appears that most likely won't be your actual class start date. After talking with Columbus, they said to expect to wait at least a few months for you to actually start UPT. The 2Lt I spoke with said she was supposed to start August 22' and she was hoping to make it into the July 23' class. I asked if it was a similar timeline for the "late to rate" folk and she said it seemed like they weren't waiting years like other people, but the wait still was at least a few months.1 point

Watched a similar thing happen at Kunsan. We held int he EOR 45 minutes when another two ship of F-16's taxing out and decided to Leroy Jenkins down the runway...I will never forget the water spray off the nose wheel, it no shit looked like the Pilatus below, I could not believe the dude was launching. We aborted, taxied back, and went to the squadron. An hour and a half later we hear the two ship diverted to Kimhae due to weather (no shit!) Of course the weather was crap at Kimhae as well and the first aircraft ended up hydroplaning down the runway and taking the barrier. The second dude landed, hydroplaned and had to steer off the runway in order to avoid hitting the other aircraft still stuck in the barrier. The second dude struck the MA-1A chain and seriously forked up the underside of the jet, the engine and as I recall the ECM pod...Nice job for an IP. Didn't hurt his career, years later he ended up back in Korea as DO of the 35th, SQ/SS at Luke, Wing CV, ABW/CC before he was finally relieved...but that is a story for another day.1 point

The Navy H-60s can fly the 500-ish miles to shore, the difference between them and the USCG helos is that the Coasties can go practically that far and then fly back. Less than 100 feet isn’t a problem with the helo’s altitude hold. The altitude is interesting though. Ward has a tendency to “elaborate” on what he knows so I’m not sure how accurate that is. The guidance given to me from the corpsmen was to keep head injuries low; my understanding being because the lower pressure with increase in altitude could exacerbate hemorrhaging for head wounds. That said, I can’t imagine the slight pressure difference from 50 to 150-200 feet would be that significant. I’d really love to hear from a flight doc on this one.1 point

You can work with AFPC to change your IFT/PCS dates as needed. You can also request a RNLTD change via vMPF, your losing/gaining commanders will crosschat and are the ones to approve it. What's been the trend for all my friends so far is that the expected class start date is exactly 1 month after the RNLTD, so for a 26 June RNLTD I'd expect a 26 July class start date (If you check your SURF via AMS on vMPF it should have a section about expected training with expected dates). When I spoke with Columbus, they said that the Guard/Reserve folk normally show up about 10 days before their class start date and have zero problems so that shouldn't be an issue to show up later!1 point

Thanks Huggy, I want to point out the obvious here for those ten-percent who didn't catch the skill level here. Not only did he maneuver to place the balloon and accoutrement in the frame, the shadow of the aircraft is on the side of the balloon as well. Best selfie indeed!1 point

Years ago, in Iraq during the summertime when the AC wasn’t working too well, I once rolled up my flight suit sleeves when it wasn’t allowed. Good thing my commander didn’t give me an Article 15.1 point

Here’s the thing though: There is a good chunk of conservative media (and therefore a good chunk of conservatives) that are eager to paint everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) the Biden Administration does as a misstep. They are so blind in their desire to demonize the current president that they would rather see him fail than the United States win. Incredibly, there has arisen a contingent of self professed Reagan loving conservatives who are now willing to spread Russian propaganda and misinformation in order to to discredit the current president. Look, no one is saying you have to like the Biden Administration or vote Democrat. There are plenty of valid criticisms. But the narrative that Joe is somehow the world’s biggest criminal and that every single decision he’s made in office has been an abject disaster is a bit hyperbolic, no? Worse than that, this attitude is damaging to our nation in numerous ways, not the least of which is letting the camel’s nose that is Russian misinformation under the tent.1 point

Are you referring to the guy on here who proudly said that if he was a commander that he would give Article 15s to those who didn’t have a covid shot and weren’t wearing their mask when required to do so? No, he won’t apologize.1 point

I agree. More importantly the article in the NYT states masks do not work. standing by for apologies from the COVID fanatics on here1 point

Let me give you an example of the bullshit dealt with just this week. For context, the member is activated stateside, but away from home. This is real life in the military... Finance: Sir, one of your members has an unauthorized purchase on his GTC. Me: What did he buy? *thinking this dude went to a strip joint* Finance: He bought a fishing license with his GTC. Me: *OK this dude clearly isn't as cool as I thought, but fishing is fun too...just not as fun as strippers* Me: *laughs then thinks....oh shit, this guy is serious.* Me: Does he have per diem to cover it? Finance: Yes. Me: Ok, then what's the problem? Finance: It's not an authorized purchase location? Me: Can I authorize it as his CC? Finance: Ummm.... Me: I mean, the dude could have done a cash advance for the same amount, right? Finance: Yes Me: Then he could have walked from that ATM with said cash and bought said item, right? Finance: Yes Me: ...and that's authorized? Finance: Yes Me: ...............silence.......... Finance: ............silence............ Me: the why the fuck are we having this conversation? Finance: The purchase location on his GTC isn't authorized. Me: But an ATM at the same location would have been fine? Finance: Yes sir. Me: *stares through phone muthafuckingly* Me: How much are we talking here. Finance: $25 dollars. Me: $%$%#&#*#((# Finance: Sir? Me: OK, what do you need? Finance: I need this form filled out, which requires an investigation. Me: WTF? Over $25, that is more than covered by his per diem? Finance: Yes sir...we have to have it for the auditors. Me: Can I just send you a memo that says it's good to go? Finance: No sir, the auditor requires this form. Me: Sure, I'll just clear my schedule of that unimportant shit like flying and launch an investigation into this great travesty that will certainly bankrupt the AF! Finance: Is that some kind of joke, we weren't issued a sense of humor at finance school (ok, that part might be made up...10% rule applies). So I spent a morning "investigating" a $25 purchase, where my comments were a veiled, I can't believe you made me do this and this is basically fraud waste and abuse of my time. Meanwhile, at DAL... Stuck out in a wx event where I can't get ahold of anyone from the company, and without any approvals/questions/forms filled out (gasp). I slap my credit card down for 2 cabs and 5 hotel rooms for the crew at the nicest hotel I can find. On the way to the airport the next day, I file the receipts with a note saying that we got stuck and I procured transportation/lodging for my crew. I was never questioned and paid out within a few days. Crazy talk, I know!1 point
