The big takeaways are 1. Officer Sicknick did not die on Jan 6th but the media, FJB, the AG, and democrats knew it and lied. Worse, they continue to lie in some cases. 2. The DOJ intentionally failed to disclose evidence as required by constitutional law. They lied to the court. 3. Democrats trashed a couple centuries of precedence by not allowing the minority party to select their committee members, did not allow counter arguments or evidence, and staged a show trial that would have made Stalin proud. In other words, there is no lie too big even if it means the destruction of the truth, legal protections, and the legislative process in order to further the advancement of power. Scary shit right there.

J6 was a violent riot. Tucker's reporting says that as well. However Congress, the president, the vice president, and multiple news networks have been telling us it was an armed insurrection & worse than 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. On a scale relative to those events, it's accurate to say "J6 wasn't that bad." It's also lazy to rely on the "both sides bad" comeback. I recall during the height of ISIS our MSM networks would cautiously report on a dozen children roasted alive by the Caliphate (or whatever latest barbarity) while reminding us that Christian extremists also exist and are bad. My reply then & now is "you're not wrong but GMAFB." there can be no unity or reconciliation in our country without accountability for shitty behavior on any side. On that I hope we agree and if focused on that these conversations can be more unifying and productive. If a J6 or BLM rioter is caught, throw them in jail. If Trump breaks the law, investigate & prosecute. If Biden has been taking Chinese bribe money through his crackhead son, investigate & prosecute. Unfortunately a politicized and unethical DOJ/FBI is only weighing in against one side on those above examples and that is clearly apparent now. I don’t know that answer, but it is insane that two people with ATPs, operating in one of the most critical phases of flight when they should be at max awareness, are told to line up and they takeoff instead. Is it a training/SOP problem, fitness for duty problem, experience problem, or something else? It sure feels like this kind of stuff is happening more often, and it concerns me.

They were both bad and I don’t think anyone here is saying J6 was no big deal. But, one was significantly worse than the other in terms of the actual event(s) and the response. If you don’t see that, then you are the “blind subscriber” you railed against in your following post.

It's not even so much that "the government lied." Governments and politicians lie. It's an unfortunate aspect of our system of government. To me, it's more the fact that we're all awash in propaganda and narrative, and so many people are blind to it. The NPC memes that get tossed around are frighteningly accurate.

Put yourself in their shoes. You're a low rent cop in a building that's already been evacuated and now you're surrounded by 10,000 maga nutcases. Do you: a) be nice to them and prevent escalation b) start unloading with your service weapon, guaranteeing a panic, and probably get trampled/assaulted to death c) arrest buffalo guy and march out the front door.. and probably get trampled/assaulted to death If I was a betting man, Id say most of the cops left in the building by the time it was breached.. at least the smart ones.. went with option A. You can have whatever opinion you want on whatever politician, but let’s get a few facts straight. Those people were not part of the guided Capitol tour. They broke through police lines and barricades and entered the building illegally. Were some of them calm and “peaceful”? Probably. But there were plenty who were willing to assault police officers and more than a few explicit threats directed at the lives politicians. Sorry, but when you join the angry mob, MAGA, woke, or otherwise, you’re signing up for potential unpleasant consequences. Veterans of all people should’ve understood the ramifications of the event they were choosing to participate in. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes and all that.

A nice bottle with a message and if you have a local flare where you are from, beer, alcohol, food, whatever, bring it and present to the masses. This is a moment you can never get back. And if you bring a six pack of Miller light, that’s all they will need to know about you. They might not even drink. But if you don’t value your future with that unit and don’t do something special and put effort into it, it’s an easy pass for them. They want someone they would like to hang out for 10+ years and has a good attitude and if you have a family, that they get along with you. You could have the best resume ever but if you’re awkward or don’t make an effort to make a splash in some of the only chances you get, then it’s an easy pass. There isn’t a shortage of people trying to get into a unit. There is a shortage of good people with their heart and mind in the right place that people want to go to war with. A bottle or special gift or a way to set yourself apart is just a small subset of who you are. Don’t just get a bottle and leave it. Make a splash. Do something to make them laugh show them why they want you and can’t be without you. The pilot shortage isn’t so bad that people will hire someone they don’t want to be around in military aviation. Generally speaking.

It absolutely matters, even if they say it doesn’t. If they’re inviting you to interview they are giving you a chance to land your dream job (if that’s what this is to you). Getting a nice bottle is an easy way to show how much it means to you and they do notice it. Watched a similar thing happen at Kunsan. We held int he EOR 45 minutes when another two ship of F-16's taxing out and decided to Leroy Jenkins down the runway...I will never forget the water spray off the nose wheel, it no shit looked like the Pilatus below, I could not believe the dude was launching. We aborted, taxied back, and went to the squadron. An hour and a half later we hear the two ship diverted to Kimhae due to weather (no shit!) Of course the weather was crap at Kimhae as well and the first aircraft ended up hydroplaning down the runway and taking the barrier. The second dude landed, hydroplaned and had to steer off the runway in order to avoid hitting the other aircraft still stuck in the barrier. The second dude struck the MA-1A chain and seriously forked up the underside of the jet, the engine and as I recall the ECM pod...Nice job for an IP. Didn't hurt his career, years later he ended up back in Korea as DO of the 35th, SQ/SS at Luke, Wing CV, ABW/CC before he was finally relieved...but that is a story for another day.

Unless it's changed, you usually you go to Randolph for 5-7 days, 2-4 weeks before you start OTS for an admin spin up. Then 2-4 weeks later you'll start the whole 2.5+ year CONTINUOUS pipeline of orders with OTS.

Now, he apparently had the whole Covid thing shacked from the get go, so obviously the US government and all its institutions will be wrong about everything, forever going forward.
