The only uniform item that I derive any morale from whatsoever is the green bag. It serves as a daily reminder that I'm better than the nonners and the paper pushers who convene meetings like the one that produced this worthless uniform reg update. hot take alert: if you wear the two piece flight suit you're a beta cuck flyer who is complicit it the eventual eradication of the green bag. Shame on you and your disrespect for tradition and may god have mercy on your soul4 points

JCPOA did not work, they continued all of these negative behaviors AND we were giving them cash and helping their economy. tearing up the deal and imposing sanctions IS diplomacy. They were STILL killing Americans...we were NOT better off! Umm in case you hadn't noticed, Trump is gone and the new guy sent a clear message when he let those 13 Americans die at the gate of the Kabul airport. FIFY - Iran doesn't trust anyone and if you read the Persian Puzzle you will understand why and how that is likely to continue for generations. The people of Iran are being held hostage by religious zealots, something we as a nation should take note of... Crazy huh...I heard some of the same conversation years before in OSD when there was an endless stream of American casualties pouring in. You could feel it in the room, a slow simmer of rage as it was clear Iran was directly responsible for killing at least 600 Americans soldiers and maiming thousands more. Luckily cooler heads prevailed, but as an American and a military officer I felt it as well. It should be a lesson for all of us.3 points

No shit there I was immediately following the Soleimani strike when we were expecting a response and the direction for response to the contingency planners from above was “fuck Iran up”. I’m not kidding.2 points

I don’t know, that’s giving them lots of credit. Most non flyers have no idea what plane is flown at their base. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app2 points

I don't see the implementation of graduated rates for flight pay (other than longevity) being anything but an unmitigated quagmire, replete with perverse incentives and unsavory second tier effects, to say nothing of the admin clusterfok @SocialD already alluded to. 200-500 taxable dollars hardly seems worth the thought.1 point

Interesting I applaud them for at least recognizing that you should incentivize additional quals. I mean, I don’t know how much it will help but it’s warranted. The cynic in me will believe it when I see it. The cynic in me also remembers when they raised the flight pay back around 2015-2016 and we were all erroneously paid for years due to the inability to update the antiquated DOS based mil pay system to properly calculate it. Now we are going to not only have different amounts due to years of aviation service as well as different qualifications…yeah that won’t get screwed up at all. I think you tell them how long your commitment will be and you'll receive 50k or whatever for every year you're committed too. Basically the same as it is now. They just want to grab people early now to get em before they smarten up and go to the airlines Sent from my SM-F926U1 using Baseops Network mobile app1 point

R=remotely P=PILOTED A=aircraft Strong argument you've got going there.1 point

Visit from Aircrew Retention Taskforce happened this past week. Here's the latest: 1. The pilot bonus will be capped at $50,000 annually however you will have to sign up early to get that amount. This year anyone signing up early (1-3 years away from ADSC) will receive the full 50k per year but starting next year you only get the 50k if you sign up 3 years in advance so say your ADSC expires in 2028 you would have to sign the intent to stay in sometime in 2025. It's $45,000 if you wait until 2 years and so on. 2. Base assignment preference is also another option you can add but it adds an additional 2 years not concurrent with your pilot commitment. 3. Aviation pay cap has increased to $1500 and the structure for receiving it is changing quite a bit. It is incentivizing upgrades by paying the most to evaluators and the least to copilots. But if you for example FAIP and are immediately an instructor you will receive more pay right of the bat and don't lose it once you change your airframe. This is nice so you never have to start over and it incentivizes FAIPing. 4. They are also looking to pay school house instructors more than line instructors to incentivize going to AETC for a tour. 5. Special Pay is also something being considered for WIC, TPS, AIC, AIS). Nothing final for this but it is something they are considering. No word when this will be in writing and implemented but all we can do is hope for the near future Sent from my SM-F926U1 using Baseops Network mobile app1 point

No, too dry and desert like, need a good tropical location. Let’s do Venezuela and set up Died 2.0 but scattered across St. Croix and surrounding islands.1 point

We "inspected" what they let us inspect while they blocked other sites. The "oversight" was an equal joke with them playing cat and mouse at every turn. Seriously did you read any of the reports? We are 1000% better because this lunatic is gone...you know, the guy responsible for killing and maiming thousands of your brothers and sisters in arms. Maybe putting them in check was part of getting to a new deal. Sorry my friend but JCPOA was a complete joke that served no purpose other than to refill Iran's cash coffers. They continued to chase nukes while exporting terror and KILLING Americans. Trump steadily reimposed sanctions on both Iran and anyone whole did business with them.1 point

Relax dog I was (mostly) joking. Wear whatever you like/what is most comfortable/fits your mission the best. I have no doubt other garments outperform the green bag in many ways. But not in uniqueness, heritage, or looking dope.. which is probably why the Air Force will get rid of it some day. When I see flying group and wing CCs wearing OCPs or the two piece that tells me the green bags days are numbered. Because anything special or cool going on in the flying ops world must eventually be neutered in the name of inclusivity and preventing hurt feelings.1 point

Am I the only one who thinks we need to just totally fuck up Iran and be done with their bullshit for a while? I’m not encouraging a protracted and decades long conflict…but I would love to see these anti-American rug makers silenced for a while and rendered incapable of inflicting further harm to us. I know of at least one nation who’d be willing to aid in the delivery of a quick and lethal response.1 point

I’ll never understand that willful ignorance. I know it makes me a total try harder but when I worked at the WIC I made sure I learned what satellite was which or what NKE could do what effect (already mastered a computer visrecce). It’s pretty amazing how far something that simple (that takes a max of 30 minutes) goes to helping build a cohesive team.1 point

Seriously? You think they stopped? You think they were open and honest and let us inspect all of their sites? You seriously can't be that naive. Almost as masterful as flying in a couple of billion dollars on pallets to help fund their terror activities. I know you know this but Iran is directly responsible for the deaths of MANY Americans and the money Obama gave them helped pay for those actions.1 point

They know your wings mean Nav. On the flip side, I have no idea what any of their badges mean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Some people simply choose to be miserable. These broads have been threatening to leave this country since before Trump was elected and I'm still waiting on them to deliver on that promise. They appear to only contribute to people being more miserable...1 point

You mean a deal where the continue to enrich and stockpile in secret while enabling proxy combat operations against the U.S. and get pallets full of billions of dollars delivered to them...sign me up bro!1 point

Two peice suits, although not good at picking up chicks, were good for flying in the heat with body armor and a gun. They also were good for keeping me warm when it was -20 and I still had to fly. Cabin heat sucks in the Huey. Great for helicopters! I kinda liked it when people assumed I wasn't a pilot/aircrew. I got treated better by the support airmen lol.1 point

You know what's odd about the "Nordic countries are happier surveys?" Their suicide rate is really high among developed countries. Not Japan high but higher than the rest of Western Europe and the US. Fucking odd they would do that because they're so happy......1 point

I don't think my commander will sign that particular off-duty employment form.1 point

True. And this does nothing to improve or sustain our ability to kill people or break their stuff but that isn't the priory of those in charge.1 point

I remember flying at 220 or 230 once over NM and I saw a bright red "pennywise" balloon just go right up maybe 100 feet in front of us and I was like..... nope...... not diverting to Albuquerque......1 point

I mean…when we backed out of the deal they started enriching again, yea. Wouldn’t you have done that too if you were them? Not that the JCPOA didn’t solve all Iranian problems, it was a big help at solving the nuclear one. Glad we tore it up for absolutely zero gain, masterful diplomacy there!-1 points

Ok but where are we now? Trump tore up the Iran deal, reimposed sanctions and…what? Continue the narrative to today. They continued/accelerated progress toward nuclear weapons and have continued/accelerated other nefarious activities including attacking American positions and killing people. So…lot of good that “diplomacy” did. I would argue we were better off under an imperfect JCPOA than today where we have nothing but belligerence to offer. Nothing about Iranian behavior today seems cowed in any way by Trump’s big talk, his tearing up of the deal, or killing QS, which I will admit, was a good move in hindsight given there was IMHO surprisingly very little direct response. I agree Iran sucks and they were skirting the JCPOA, but what we have today is worse - open hostility with no avenue for a better outcome. They can’t and shouldn’t trust us and so I guess we’ll just trade blows until eventually we “totally fuck them up” as one strategic genius proposed above 🙄 No Nobel peace prize in your future @Standby 🤣 I would legit love to see a 3-COA presentation where the median COA (designed to bracket in the decision maker toward the staff’s preferred option) is titled “totally fuck them up.”-1 points
