  1. I recommend sticking around. At O-6, you can make changes to better the organization in tangible ways for the future. Follow your core value of “Service Before Self” and you can never go wrong.

  2. I heard from my democrat friends how climate change will destroy life on earth by 1990. I mean 2000. Or maybe 2010. Nope, it’s 2030 for sure.

  4. Its also coming out now that a member of Biden's team approached, authored and pressured the "50 members of the intelligence community" to sign the letter that said the Hunter laptop was Russian disinformation.

  5. Oh but it does. The money, the power, and the elite have always been there. Things were demonstrably worse for the majority of people living in this country when the founding fathers put quill to paper. Slavery, racism, women’s rights, poverty, child labor, and many, many other issues plagued this country early in its existence. Don’t kid yourself, George, Ben, and the gang were out to enrich themselves just like any other politician from any other era. What they did have was the apparent awareness that politics are dirty & the foresight to give us the best possible framework to keep the graft in check. That system still works. It’s why we’ve made great strides in all of those issues I listed, & why we’re not some third rate kleptocracy like so many other places. We may sometimes take two steps forward and one step back but our lives are better on the whole today than ever before. Flawed as our country may be, you live in the best era in the history of mankind in the richest, most powerful nation on the planet. Many of us could take step back & recognize that fact once in a while.

  6. Your statement “I think I’m done” is telling. If you do make 0-6, life, work and expectations only going to get larger. You’ve punched the golden 20 year ticket, get out and enjoy the next phase of your life.

  7. Not just a member of his team...his current Secretary of State. I know our liberal friends are "mostly happy" with Biden but the irony of what has happened (disinformation/collusion with foreign governments/crimes), is truly staggering.

  8. The "intelligence community" has about as much credibility left as the post-COVID NIH. They weren't pressured into anything, they willingly signed up for it. Look at the country the Democrats have made: our institutions are illegitimate, the government limits free speech, crime is through the roof, borders are a mess, China is stronger and belligerent... nothing is better now than 2019, everything is worse. Vote them all out.

  9. The "left" has been catastrophizing for years. Before that round, the "right" was the moral majority, and catastrophizing all over the 80's. We're certainly not remotely close to the political violence of the 60's/70's, so I agree that the hyperbole is over wrought. But this pattern does rhyme. Incidentally: Anyone else think the terms "right" and "left" have lost all meaning? They're just team names at this point.......old man cloud yelling about lawn.....

  11. We can only hope the flood of corruption is about to break through the dam of obstruction created by this administration, the justice department in particular. An investigator with the IRS is seeking Whistleblower status over claims the investigation of Hunter Biden has been illegally delayed and obstructed. It is ALWAYS the coverup that gets these clowns. Even the left-wing press is reporting the details (you really should watch the video). 1. The FBI investigation of Hunter Biden was complete a YEAR ago. 2. The IRS investigation of Hunter Biden was complete a YEAR ago. 3. There is probable cause to indict Hunter Biden on two misdemeanor counts of Tax Evasion. 4. There is probably cause to indict Hunter Biden on one felony count of Tax Evasion. 5. There is probable cause to indict Hunter Biden on one felony gun charge. The whistleblower asserts the Justice Department has interfered rather than leaving the matter to U.S. Attorney David Weiss as promised by Attorney General Merrick Garland under oath.

  12. Nope. Waters great on this side of the pool friend. Pay is also. Im happier, my family is happier, my son is in a 100X better school than we ever could have had AD. Go find the life you always owed yourself and your family. You deserve it and congrats on the retirement.

  13. Was at some AF school and we had a consultant in tech come talk to us. It was about 3-4 years ago when "innovation" was the Air Force buzz sauce. Dude just laughed and said the DoD is one of the least innovative enterprises on the planet. He talked about how innovation cost money, and Elon Musk will blow up a $30B rocket just to figure out why rockets blow up. The DoD is too conservative and isn't willing to do that. He basically said if you're not the type of person that can burn a $100 bill without even blinking, you aren't ready to innovate, and that's why private sector software, tech and space are moving so far beyond DoD capability. Thought he made some really good points about that.

  14. Calm down dude. I was making a joke. Our country is beautiful but the people running it are not. The government is corrupt beyond repair. It was a great concept, what George, Ben and the gang put together but that country doesn't exist anymore (at least the government portion). Money and power rule our political elite, not compassion. Show me a politician who hasn't been bought and I'll buy you a bottle lol.

  16. Every day you show up to work past 20 years, you're working for $60K less since you'd get that $60K in retirement to just have a heart beat. If you think you might be done, you're probably done. Retiring as an O-6 at 30 years just doubled your retirement pay to $120K and you stand a chance to full up retire in your early 50's if you're good with money. But by then most peoples kids will have moved to college and you'll have missed much of their childhood with queep the boss 'needs tonight'.

  19. He wasn't, other than being one of the funniest people to have lived. Humanity has gotten consistently better for the overwhelming majority of our existence. There have been notable retreats (fall of the Roman empire), but in the modern world (last 500 years or so) you would have always wanted to live in the time you existed over living 50 or 100 years earlier. We focus on the negative because it is an asset to survival, especially in the harsher world of the past. But the "humans suck" arguments have always been at odds with the reality that if humans (and religious humans who constitute the vast majority of humans who have lived) really sucked, the world would not keep getting better.

  20. The only thing that could make it even better would be for ppl of a certain skin tone to pay other ppl with the opposite skin tone money, specifically because of their difference in skin tone. We’d be a complete utopia if we could just convince the nation to let public schools and hospitals change the gender of minors regardless of their parents’ wishes. We can even have it subsidized. These are serious issues that I believe are going to cause major strife in our country. We have a history of ppl willing to commit violence when they’re being mistreated, especially if it’s due to their skin color. Besides that, idk anyone that’s not willing to commit violence when another person attempts to harm their children. I’m concerned the far right is going to grow exponentially if these issues keep getting pushed by the far left. We need less violence not more. Not only that, we need liberals with the intestinal fortitude to stop letting the radicals in their party push this ideology. You wouldn’t have a large part of the population ready to vote for trump if the entire fabric of the country wasn’t being ripped apart.

  21. There are only 3 optimum points to get out: -the moment your pilot training commitment is up. -at exactly 20 years -when they kick you out for High year tenure. Any other point on the timeline and you’re giving something up.

  22. Other thing about going for O-6. First you need to compete, then get on the list, then pin-on, then in 3 yrs you can retire (if you’re looking to get the biggest high-36). Total evolution: 4-5 yrs.

I had to do a little scientific self-education, but the fact they were HOPING to clear the tower, and then actually made it through max-q (the highest dynamic pressure point which will highlight any weakness in the design) with multiple failed motors is a great telltale. I'm not an individual stock buyer, but it seems like SpaceX is here to stay for a while.

  25. I’m not an O-6 but I ask that if you stay AD, do it because you enjoy the AD life and will do your best to improve the enterprise. If you are doing it purely for retirement benefits, just move on to the next thing because I’m sure you won’t enjoy it.

  28. The $500 reimbursement thing is a Reserves deal, not offered by any ANGs to my knowledge. Which sucks, would be real nice if the ANG had it. It’s for any IDT travel. I think it’s up to 12x $500 trips a year, not necessarily limited to once a month.

  29. In today's installment of "How can Biden F@ck Americans"... Effective May 1st borrowers with a credit score greater than 680 will pay MORE on their loans to subsidize high risk loans. As an example for example, non-dirtbags who pay their monthly bills and live within their means resulting in a higher credit score will pay about $40 per month more on a home loan of $400,000. And just to make the slap to the nutsack even better, homebuyers who save and make down payments of 15% to 20% will get socked with the largest fees. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2023/apr/18/joe-biden-hike-payments-good-credit-homebuyers-sub/

  31. The first dude that was indispensable in our unit, showed up on his first Drill after being “retired” for about 4-5 (I.e. 6-9) months, and was handed a C-bag with all his Chem gear in it for an exercise we were having. He looked at the OG and said, I’m not doing this. Quit that weekend to never come back and has forever lived in infamy.

  32. It's already falling apart. They are going to tear their cities apart throughout this process. The leaders and task forces got everyone whipped up into a frenzy thinking they are getting millions and now they are saying it's going to go to city programs targeting their communities.

  33. This is where your ignorance shows. Just because *you* don't know the academic basis for the policies being pushed, you assume they must be reasonable, because you feel like a reasonable person. But reading the works of the people who have been publicly embraced by the mainstream left, such as Biden, give a very different picture. Robin Diangelo. Ibram Kendi. Kimberle Crenshaw. This stuff is bat shit crazy, and will necessitate a civil war if it was actually enacted. Remember when reparations was just a conservative fever dream? You say the conversations have changed, but they haven't that much. What exactly are they against now that they weren't 30 years ago? Chemical castration for children? Illegal immigration? Reparations? Gun rights? The only difference is that 30 years ago no one was in favor of cutting the tits off a confused teenager. If the Republicans were inviting David Duke, or the proud boys, or any other right wing lunatic to the White House and espousing their theories to the masses, you would have a point. But they aren't. The difference has always been that the left embraces their lunatics. Saying that Joe Biden is a moderate is meaningless if the people he empowers to enact and develop his policy are radicals. And they are. I have no love for the Republicans in Washington. Just a bunch of assholes there to enrich their families. But they aren't trying to flip over the underpinnings of American society while they do it, so it's immoral, but not dangerous. The people steering the ideological soul of the left today fundamentally disagree with the American system, and their preferred replacement is a time-tested failure. Klobuchar is great, as is Gabbard. Even Ro Khanna (sp?) has reasonable things to say. But they aren't leading the party.
