  3. Years ago I was a guest of the FSB (former KGB), on a formal senior military exchange and had several official meetings (and an epic lunch meeting which included shots of vodka and cognac), at their headquarters in Moscow. They have what was at the time a classified museum in the headquarters and I was given a private tour. I asked and was allowed to take this picture. In the case is wreckage from Francis Gary Powers U-2, his pressure suit, items he was carrying and a portion of his parachute.

  6. Dude I'm sorry that happened. Sucks. But I think it says something about the value of PME if commanders aren't willing to prioritize funds for people to attend. If the AF doesn't think it holds value why should we?

  12. This! You may not like his opinions but Chang knows the most contemporary movement at the HAF level. You should listen to everything he says like gospel!

  13. 1. None of mine. I was still legacy syllabus. I think the 2.5 syllabus has like 20hrs (Not totally sure) of VR events. My class did use the VR sims though just on our own to brush up on pattern visuals and whatnot. VR pattern parties are a good time. 2. 59 flights in the T-6 and 42 in the T-1. A few of those flights might have been incompletes for MX. 3. No sombrero for me. Couple close calls though. 4. I didn't have first hand knowledge, but the first 2.5 class started simultaneously with my class in the other T-6 squadron, and when we'd fly with the other squadrons IPs, they would talk about there being a lot more queep than with the legacy syllabus. I think the overall mood regarding it has improved as they've gotten used to it and as some of the kinks get ironed out. 5. Hahaha no comment. Definitley saw both sides of the spectrum though. Those who enjoy the job and those who don't. 6. Absolutely. But damn, its was a good time.

  14. Plus of ENJJPT is some lower quality studs get fighters which forces some higher quality into heavies at the SUPT bases. Obviously not the best if they want fighters but it helps a little with the spread.

  16. Oh it's been noted. I'll leave this PSA on here for those getting ideas from said demographic you highlight: We recently FEB'd an 11F from PIT. Most people in this enterprise know how statistically outlier that is, if they have been doing this longer than a tour. And the reasons for that being the COA have much more to do with outlook and attitude, than any intent on the part of 19th to make an example out of anyone. This is unprecedented, especially given the background. BL, let it be a warning, approaching a formal AETC course like this is either beneath you or not about you, is not going to get you back to "your fighter". A real bum's bet to even think AETC would go for something like that. Yet some fucked around and found out. In the words of Alonzo

  17. For me, personally, I'd even do it DL/OL IF, big IF, they assigned it as your full time job from home station and you had no other officer or additional duties. Aircrew can still fly on occasion for RAP/Currency, but zero other duties. Also, the academic rigor needs to be made worthwhile.

  19. There are only 3 optimum points to get out: -the moment your pilot training commitment is up. -at exactly 20 years -when they kick you out for High year tenure. Any other point on the timeline and you’re giving something up.

  21. First drop I witnessed at SPS was 5 x UAV, 5 x U-28/PC-12, a FAIP, 1 x B-52, and 1 x F-15E. I also say this as a graduate of ENJJPT, the fact that people are much more likely to drop fighters based on their ability to do well in college/OTS is a joke. It’s how you end up with folks that fly fighters instead of fighter pilots (massive difference). I stopped through SPS awhile back and overheard a student say something to the effect of he didn’t have to excel just survive to end up in a Viper. I wanted to choke slam him.
