I did my own research and found out that most of them died. Those that didn’t don’t get good cell reception under the pizza place where the Clintons are hiding them.3 points

Dude rightly comments that it's nothing but weirdo fringe bullshit around here, and the response is to point out the lack of non-fringe bullshit as if a point is being made? That's like the Grand Wizard at a Klan rally making the observation that there aren't a lot of black guys in attendance. It kinda follows by definition. My guess is that you don't hear much from the 'pro-vax' crowd because people who addressed the pandemic with logic and composure, and without wrapping their identity up in it, moved on with their lives, like, 2.5 years ago. But maybe I'm just out of touch and it's because they've all been converted to team 'Anthony Fauci is literal Satan'. Could be that too. Baseops.net as a service died long ago. Surely no later than 2014 and I'd probably date it more like 2010. But since then it has been quite an interesting case study to watch a community of people that, if questioned on the whole, would rate themselves as anti pinko-commie-Russia as possible. All while falling harder for Russian propagandists bullshit than anyone. Willingly (or unknowingly) participating in the propaganda-101 game of dividing at the centerline and pushing each half toward the extremes, then pitting them against each other. Becoming a stronger force in the quest for long term destruction of American society than the propagandists themselves by parroting (one half of) their bullshit with the legitimizing facade of red-blooded American veteran patriots. 1000x more damage done by participating than any benefit rendered by standing watch in uniform against the threat of enemy military action. There are obviously other forces at play, and it's impossibly complex, but the extent to which the last decade has followed the Russian playbook is staggering. They must be dumbfounded at their success in general, but especially in their ability to co-opt even staunch self-identifying enemies to their cause.2 points

Oh no, you're entirely correct. He can. That's not what's happening right now though. The IRR is different than the Retired Reserve. There'd be a bloody mutiny if he tried to recall the retired reserve right now.2 points

We're talking about Hunter Biden in the Squadron Bar. This is mostly satire. We dont have to be professional 24/7; especially, those of us that are retired. It's more like a gay Jewish guy showing up to a concentration camp in here. Don't go to camp if you dont want to concentrate. Lol. I dont like the Government, at all. Republicans or Democrats. They are all the problem. They have way too much power and control over our lives now. Stop telling others they're blind if you only think your side is right. That means you're the same as them. Not an independent thinker but a follower of whatever your party is brainwashing you to believe. Stop watching CNN, MSNBC, FOX, BBC, SKY NEWS and etc... They are the new tabloids. Do your own research and double check your sources. Oh yeah, social media is not your friend. Turning back on course Hunter Biden for President!!!1 point

Because most people got vaccinated, and it's not worth arguing with the holdouts. Along with the covid strains getting more mild, so there's a lot less urgency.1 point

Great movie but that scene was a bit corny(for you young ones that's a boomer term for melodramatic). One of my favorite scenes. Apologies for the highjack1 point

Unsatisfied herk drivers, Consider coming over to the KC-46. The flying is unique, as we do a lot of shit that tankers normally don't do that would scratch your tactical itch. Co-altitude formation, NVGs in LZs, and receiver AR are a hell of a lot of fun. We're also at 40% manning right now, and we're continuing to take on more and more operational missions. The getting is good. We fly a lot. Plus, if your goal is to go to the airlines, an IP in a 767 is going to look damn good. We have yet to have a guy that's separated that hasn't gotten hired on by a major airline. Also we have ground cooling, a full lavatory, and a functioning fridge/oven for you 135 bubbas. You'll find you have a lot in common with your 46 bros, in that we ALL hate the C-17. We've recently absorbed a lot of big ISR guys (E-3s, E-8s) that are very happy with the move.1 point

The unintended consequences of poor social policies will likely not end well https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1209713.shtml Men (people but especially young men) need to actualize, usually thru school-work-marriage-children-family-wealth building but if none of that is available to you other more anti-social paths become attractive We see this at every level of society, my hope is that they can find someway to channel that energy into something productive I doubt the leaders of China will do what the “leaders” of the West are trying to do to large swaths of their young male population (mollify / distract them with legalization of narcotics, porn, identity and sexual politics / cultural issues) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Can they? Yes. Have any yet? I don't think so. There is nothing in the application that addresses prior active duty. From a flying viewpoint, it wouldn't matter. But I'm sure there are unwritten considerations too.1 point

I think most people are calm about this, most realize they're likely not going to be picking up a rifle. However, even if it is a gig sitting in AOC at Ramstein, sipping Hefeweizen, I still don't want to go. I've given enough of my life on activations that were a complete waste of time/money. Now if you tell me it's a nice backwater assignment to a small, Mediterranean coastal town, that I can bring the lady... Then I could be coaxed into being OK with being called out of retirement. LOL jk, I'd still pass if able. Life is finally damn good right now, with plenty of time to do the shit I really want to do. If I wanted to go to Europe and drink their beer, I'd go on a vacation.1 point

You’re literally commenting on a thread named after the President’s drug addicted son. If you want to make the site better, by all means do so.1 point

My comment was obviously in jest. Unfortunately I've worked with many Washington Staffers both on the hill and in the big house. I thought the ones one the hill were bad until I met a few supporting the NCS and CoS' office. Obviously all those Ivy Leaguers need a little something to keep them going as they tell us how to act while they rule the world. The part that gets me, it was reported today the Secret Service has approximately 500 suspects and they are closing the case after having interviewed how many of them...take a guess?1 point

All the posturing makes me desire the simplicity of honesty by world leaders. I know that might create its own set of problems. One of my favorite scenes in movie history.1 point

Its almost like watching Macaulay Culkin fighting the wet bandits, but with uavs and grenades instead of toys and hot irons.1 point

Man, don’t ya just love watching videos of Ukrainians dropping $100 grenades on top of $2M Russian tanks?! Makes my Cold War-raised heart swell.1 point

One of my sons ships off to the Navy in Aug. He’s trying out for SWCC. He hasn’t even left yet and the Navy already has his ass up every morning doing pretty intense physical training. He’s pretty stoked. I tried to talk him into being a pilot but he wants to shoot fully automatic guns, drive boats and hop out of aircraft. You can’t do that in the civilian world. My other two sons have expressed zero interest in the military (I’ve taken all of them flying, and none want to be a pilot, lol). I think volunteering for military service has to do with your personality. Not everyone wants to the excitement (or extreme boredom) that comes with the military life. Most news articles want doom and gloom. I trust my son and the kind of dudes he hangs out with to take care of us if shit goes down. The young guys aren’t all selfish dumbasses.1 point

Do it, that’s what I say. I get it there’s bullshit and worrying things occurring, but go back and every generation thinks the next generation/version of the mil is bullshit, ruined, sucks, etc. Things have changed a lot in my career, and I don’t care for many of them, but the core job satisfaction, the bros, and the adventure you can’t get anywhere else persists. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t rewind the clock and do it all over again (while simultaneously counting the days until retirement and lamenting my fucked up back!)1 point

So...exactly like the C40/BBJ then. 700 fuselage, 800 wing/gear...and ghetto fabulous aux tanks.1 point

Primarily software. A few small hardware changes. The transition course from 6 to 8 is 2 weeks. Nobody ever considered the need for a reverese snd it's screwing the FP community hard. Those dual qual'ed are flying their ass off while those that are block 8 only are flying 1 tac line a week and averaging 10-15 hours/month. I know one in our sq who got to 0 on their 30 day without taking leave. During their 6 month initial seasoning. In a year or so you'll have block 8 only pilots who can't PCS to some of the AD herk units because they don't have any block 8 tails. To all the others, without revealing too much this isn't my first rodeo. I know what a well functioning community/squadron looks like and this sadly isn't it. FP development out of the jet is lacking and in the jet is hit or miss. I'd say FGO leadership is largely absent (ROAD) and the below is the stark reality of the current Herk mission: The cgo patches are trying but you can only bandaid so much. Personally I'm burnt out from busting my ass on the ground and bending over backwards to get a hint stick time. And at the end of the day job satisfaction is nil vs. my previous. Having been on another side of the AF, I can't rec the herk to dudes currently. It's decently fun flying and it's got another year or two to grow on me, but otherwise I'll be headed back to my bros with lessons learned or onto another community that feels it has purpose.0 points
