  1. It was a bit closer to the latter than most would like to admit. It was NOT just military members, Biden's directives (White House Policy Announcement), attempted to force (or lose your job and livelihood), 2/3 of the U.S. Population to get vaccinated: 1. All government civilian employees. 2. All employees of any company that had a government contract. 3. All health care workers at facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid. 4. Via OSHA, ALL employees of companies that have more than 100 employees.

  3. Bullshit. I’ve was in the Squadron when Rich launched this forum back around 2001. I’ve been moderator and Admin here. It’s always been the same: good threads, some threads, sport bitching and arguing. It’s never been any different. Remember the Rainman days or the CannonCrashPad/RickRynearson days? Same drama, different time. Therr have been literally dozens of people who have proclaimed the forum was dead. It’s still here, they’re gone.

  4. Getting back to Hunter Biden, how interesting that the night before the House Oversight Committee conducts interviews about the Hunter Biden Laptop and other issues, the FBI General Counsel sends a memo to FBI agent leading the investigation saying "don't answer questions". Nothing to see here, just weirdo fringe bullshit, no lack of transparency...

  6. I'll add my .02 from my career in Oil and Gas with a lot of former military colleagues. Like all things there are good and bad. I wouldn't say the military experience I have seen is an auto step above anyone else. Some are really good others are not. Im on the sales side of our business and we have maybe 40% sales guys with military experience. The main issue I see is they need to be told what to do and exactly how to do it. I dont see a lot of thinking outside the box with new and innovative ideas to create new business. But if there are procedures to follow, they are great at it. In the O n G industry, an ex enlisted guy with a GED can make great money, however I think that time is mostly coming to an end with energy policies. As far as recommending someone to join: I did and the startup I work for was big on military guys so it worked for me. Where we are now 10 yrs later, we want industry experience, preferably from a competitor we can train. Military experience may or may not be a bonus. I dont want my kids to join. Not after the way GWOT was handled. I feel like it was Vietnam 2.0. Nothing was learned. My best friend from highschool quit college on 9/15 became SF in the ARMY. I dont know how many deployments he did and how many buddies he lost. He was awarded the purple heart and just retired after 20+ yrs. All that time away from his family and the dude is not the same and for what? I did try to get my brother in law to join hte AF as a load or boom for obvious reasons (Travel, college, experience). His family doesn't have much and he was limited on options. Well he didn't and joined the Army after too many years in college figuring out his path. He's an 01, but he could be a civi now had he listened with 0 dept. Lots of guys that were in their 20's 10 yrs ago now have kids. Willing to bet not many will push for a career in the military. It will be a long problem.

  7. Small sample size but the cohort of kids who were in middle school during COVID seem particularly unmotivated to do anything. All of the coaches/teachers I work with (teach AFJROTC) say enrollment is down in clubs, sports, dance, band, etc. despite the overall population of our high school increasing. Several other AFJROTC instructors I talked to our summer camp said the same thing about their schools.

  9. I haven’t heard anything regarding ANG pause. Which would make the whole thing that much more laughable. The ANG has been kicking AD’s ass on the bonus for years.

  10. Quite possible Angry young men told they are going to win back the honor of their nation plus amphetamines can get people to do a lot things they might not ordinarily do, I wonder how the videos coming out of Ukraine of close quarter battle, artillery barrages and the absolute horror of war is affecting the tech savvy fighting age males of China. I imply no cowardice to them in that statement but I wonder if this is giving them the CCP pause as to would they answer the call? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. https://www.theverge.com/2023/7/17/23797379/mali-ml-typo-us-military-emails-leak Another cyber/intelligence issue the DoD hasn’t addressed in spite of warnings (for years). It would appear my dad was correct, attention to detail is important.

  12. what in the history of the DoD manning decisions would make you think they have that level of foresight/competence? see: https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/3453178/air-force-delays-some-pcss-bonuses/

  21. What are your long term goals? Screw the 5/10/15 year plan crap, what do you want to do in life? Do you want to be the best fighter pilot that's ever lived? Do you want to be a pilot that makes a difference in peoples lives? Does it not matter at all what you fly? This is important: don't hold back or logic eliminate something. What's your dream? You want to fly Marine One someday? You want to be the first man to step on Mars? What is it? All the numbers and all the rest need to be secondary to the driving force. When a measure becomes a target (such as the AFOQT), it's no longer an effective measure. What's your real target?

  22. I’ve steered several friends toward the Ranger Regiment , NSW, the Marines, and AF Special Warfare. They all were worried about transferable skills and I told them if they could handle one of the aforementioned jobs, they’ll be able to get some job on the outside because they’ll be able to make things happen with a winning attitude. What really drove the point home to me was when I went to a recent reunion with a bunch of bros I played college football with. They all were so interested in my stories and a bunch (including 3 former and 1 current NFL player) said they wish they would’ve done that. Do cool shit with your life and don’t rush to being a fucking square.

  23. This is a logical move though from the people who believe there are no differences in humans at all and as such you can just pick whatever identity group you want more representation from. The idea that you're going to find a bunch of recruits from a political demographic that fundamentally believes that America is more accurately characterized by it's flaws rather than it's strengths is silly. They're called Social Justice Warriors because they already believe they are in a war. They don't need a real one to feel like they are doing something.

  24. my guess you don't hear much from the 'pro-vax' crowd is because the vax doesn't work. and most people don't want to admit they were duped by big pharma. and LOL @ the 'pro vax' crowd moving on with their lives in july 2021...hardly the case...the pro vax extremists on here were declaring a "new normal" and we are "never going back to the way things were". as far as russia is concerned...you didn't happen to be in the crowd that ripped mitt romney in 2012? didn't think so “Russia, this is, without question, our number one geopolitical foe,” Romney, who would be the Republican presidential nominee in the 2012 race against President Barack Obama, told Wolf Blitzer in March of that year. “They — they fight every cause for the world’s worst actors.” Obama and his team pounced on the comment, insisting that it showed Romney was hopelessly out of touch when it came to the threats facing the US." https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/22/politics/mitt-romney-russia-ukraine/index.html so whats worse falling for big pharma/dr fauci propaganda or russia propaganda? one has killed thousands of Americans, stomped on constitutional liberties, robbed Americans of their jobs....and the other? yeah.

  26. Dude rightly comments that it's nothing but weirdo fringe bullshit around here, and the response is to point out the lack of non-fringe bullshit as if a point is being made? That's like the Grand Wizard at a Klan rally making the observation that there aren't a lot of black guys in attendance. It kinda follows by definition. My guess is that you don't hear much from the 'pro-vax' crowd because people who addressed the pandemic with logic and composure, and without wrapping their identity up in it, moved on with their lives, like, 2.5 years ago. But maybe I'm just out of touch and it's because they've all been converted to team 'Anthony Fauci is literal Satan'. Could be that too. Baseops.net as a service died long ago. Surely no later than 2014 and I'd probably date it more like 2010. But since then it has been quite an interesting case study to watch a community of people that, if questioned on the whole, would rate themselves as anti pinko-commie-Russia as possible. All while falling harder for Russian propagandists bullshit than anyone. Willingly (or unknowingly) participating in the propaganda-101 game of dividing at the centerline and pushing each half toward the extremes, then pitting them against each other. Becoming a stronger force in the quest for long term destruction of American society than the propagandists themselves by parroting (one half of) their bullshit with the legitimizing facade of red-blooded American veteran patriots. 1000x more damage done by participating than any benefit rendered by standing watch in uniform against the threat of enemy military action. There are obviously other forces at play, and it's impossibly complex, but the extent to which the last decade has followed the Russian playbook is staggering. They must be dumbfounded at their success in general, but especially in their ability to co-opt even staunch self-identifying enemies to their cause.

  27. I can't explain the veracity of something that hasn't ever existed. Thanks for the hyperbole that demonstrates my case though...maybe manipulating people isn't as tough as it seems and I give the propagandists too much credit. But there are thousands of institutions in this country set up to teach probability and statistics at a high school or greater equivalency level to adults. They would take payment in exchange for slamming their head against a wall with you, making it a reasonable transaction. Unfortunately, I don't operate one of them so I'm going to pass on your generous offer. Right. Because I'm referring to this one singular thread that's mostly in jest and nothing more than a lighthearted poke at the antics of the President's dipshit son and nothing else that might have been discussed all over the forum for the last decade. Real sophisticated take you've got there.
