Achievers are still out there. My kid is a junior in high school and wants to be a fighter pilot (god help me). I've taken his circle of friends camping a bunch and I always ask what they want to do when they grow up, through the years they have remained constant once they got off the NASCAR driver football player track. Two want to be military officers (one of those a military doctor), one a computer programmer (making games), one can already weld like a pro and he wants to be a heavy equipment operator, the last one wants to design rockets for SpaceX. Three play football and the others run cross country. Here is the really surprising part to me, my son is all AP and honors with a 4.43 GPA but there are 41 kids with higher GPA's above him out of 650+ in his year group. Have any of you looked at how hard it is to get into some Universities these days? Average GPA at some of the big Florida schools: U of Florida - 4.41, Florida State University - 4.07, UCF - 4.05, U of Miami 3.6 (unweighted). There are achievers in the next generation, don't believe the hype.4 points

I really don't think they understand that the problem was the vaccine being forced on people, not that there was a vaccine.3 points

The "data" doesn't support all the young athletes dying suddenly, yet it's plain as day that's exactly what's happening. turns out when you lie to people, they don't trust you. I notice you didn't engage on whether you'd have your pregnant wife/sister/daughter get vaxed and boosted. I don't blame you for avoiding the question, it's quite uncomfortable to realize you're the bad guy in a narrative.3 points
-
You're quite right, the burden of proof rests with the person making the assertion. The assertion made is that we must get vaccinated, it is the safe & effective way to "stop the spread." You should be prepared to convince a pregnant mom, not presume to order her. You pro-vaccine zealots don't get it; 100% of the burden to prove vaccine validity is on you. This isn't a tit for tat discussion, you need overwhelming evidence from impartial sources and total data transparency or no one will believe you. You don't have it. Would you force your wife to take the clot shot while pregnant if risk of miscarriage increase was only 1%? Which is greater: the risk a young woman will have and spread covid so severe it threatens her life and others, or the risk this shot will harm her unborn baby? Since you can't answer those question, you shouldn't be shaming people misreading data to err on the side of cautious prenatal care.3 points

It's not just POGs/Nonners, plenty of pilots in that grift train. Problem is you're gonna step on toes here because a subset will resemble the remark, don't kid yourself. It's a "we don't talk about fight club" topic. People can spare me the plausible deniability. We all know them, class-I holders running proverbial marathons with tournament player level VA documentation wordsmithing in order to grab the rating golden ring and get puh puh puh paid son. In TX it's even worse, since it nets you [effectively, spare me the sales tax pedantry] zero-state tax burden if you play your cards right. People will continue to profit while hiding behind the govt's inclination to protect the status quo in order to not run afoul of extending benefits to the legitimate cases. Human shield dynamics. If you raise the issue, you'll get told off/met with (literally in my experience debating this topic in person) a "mind your business/ hate the game not the playa". Fair enough, but it is our collective business as taxpayers. This is as far I'll spend time engaging on this topic on a forum like this one, given the demographic. If the FAA is finally "hating on the game", even if accidentally/second order effect?...GOOD. Those who resemble the remark are a f--- disgrace, you can @ me all you want, I'll still call it out for what it is.3 points

There are plenty of books popping up that don’t belong in school libraries due to explicit, adult content. However, public libraries are completely different.3 points

Agreed. Between just my two kids one wants to be a clinical psychologist and the other wants to be Cookie Monster, so I think the future is bright. The future shrink is in middle school and is well on the way to achieving her dreams, while the Cookie Monster one is only 14 months old, so she's got time to trim her sails into something a bit less glamorous and wildly successful. 😆2 points

I was diagnosed with PTSD by the VA in 2019. I had completed RTP for Compass (God rest her soul) flying the E-175 out of LAX and talking about going to the Majors on every flight before that day. It was a bummer. I called my Chief Pilot at Compass and told him I can't fly anymore and didn't renew any FAA physical, any of them. I haven't flown anything (Cessnas, Pipers, Helicopters or anything) since. I drank most days in the AF. Never got mental health. My wife made me stop drinking in 2018. Thats when the real trouble started. A year later I cant fly anymore, but I can surf. My friend just got locked up last week during a PTSD incident. He was an army ground dude. Solid guy, he just had a bad few days and thought he was somewhere else. And now he will do some time. He was in my garage on last Wednesday. I didn't read the signs right. I thought something was off about him but I couldn't tell. I just found out what happened because his sister called me today. If you have PTSD get help. Biff Im ok. Just pray for my bud and his family and remember that its not a joke to need help.2 points

Great. I was never on the side of the mandate cultists. You guys have just decided that anyone who doesn't believe the vaccines will sterilize you daughters and kill your sons must be on the side of mandates. I was on the side of "get the vaccine so we can get back to normal". I've been bitterly disappointed at the long-term efficacy of the vaccines. I don't believe they are any more dangerous or damaging than any of the dozens of vaccines already on the vaccination schedule. Now, before someone drags up previous posts for a "gotcha" moment, I want to make a distinction. I believe Biden and the DoD had the legal authority to order service members to get vaccinated. That doesn't mean I think it was a good idea. I NEVER supported the idea of a nation-wide mandate for the vaccines.1 point

Awesome, we finally agree! And I don't care how many boosters you take or how often you double mask your kids. Have at it. Freedom of choice has traditionally been a shared value in the US; it's only recently tyrants tried forcing us rather than convincing us. If you've switched away from the mandate cultists, then I welcome you on the side of freedom regardless of your opinion on vaccine efficacy. Live and let live.1 point

I'm skeptical. I see an inordinate number of kids these days answering this question: "what do you want to be when you grow up" "a Youtuber" Sad how in my generation the response would have been "an astronaut, doctor, fighter pilot, an army man" Indicative of anything? The hell if I know, but an indicator of the kind of kids we're raising? Hmmm1 point

Literally every 5-10 years there's a prediction that when the younger generation takes over, it's all over, the country's going to hell in a handbasket, etc. We're gonna be just fine. Old men will always yell at clouds and the world will continue to turn. As an example...1 point

I mean there is a very drawn out, multi-level reviewed process for how VA disability claims are adjudicated. The fact that a system can be scammed by some small % of people doesn't mean the system is bad, I challenge you to find any large system with zero waste or scamability. I do shake my head at veterans who openly try to maximize their VA disability for BS reasons, but at the same time it's not up to me to judge, even as a taxpayer. If their disability is found to be legit by the process that I consider pretty thorough (I have a disability % myself), then ok, I will not ever have access to all the details on someone else. That's completely beside the point. Straight from the VA website, "VA disability compensation provides monthly benefits to Veterans in recognition of the effects of disabilities, diseases, or injuries incurred or aggravated during active military service." If you are affected by a disability, disease, or injury that happened while active military service, you may be eligible for VA disability compensation. The fact that many of those disabilities, diseases and injuries happen to the civilian population during the course of their working careers is irrelevant - VA disability is setup to pay veterans for these things if/when they happen. Example: one of my best friends laid down his crotch rocket and broke his collarbone while on active duty. Got 10% for that due to arm mobility limitations afterward. Is riding a crotch rocket on a Friday night and hitting a bit of gravel something that's super unique to military service? Absolutely not. But he was injured while serving on active duty; the compensation is appropriate. Sucks for the civilians who suffer similar injuries, the recruiter's chair is always open. Military service confers all kinds of unique benefits while also sometimes asking for very unique sacrifices. Honestly understanding the intent of the system, think of VA disability as a piece of delayed compensation not unlike your pension, which is highly unique compared to the 98.69% of the civilian sector of today. Bottom line on bottom: don't claim shit that's not true, be able to look yourself in the mirror, but understand the intent of the VA disability system and don't leave money on the table that you should be getting.1 point

Not to demean but have you ever been briefed on Raptor, F-15EX, F-35 capes to actually know the hierarchy and comparison of what jets are most capable and should be “feared” in missions sets? I find a lot of fanboys talk of the A-10 and F-22 among others and don’t know anything outside airshow hype. And I wouldn’t expect NGAD in the guard in the next 15+ years if ever. Valid there are scammers, but I don’t believe that’s a large percentage. I know a ton of dudes, and have met many more, who have legit VA claims. It’s unfortunate dbags exist, but certainly don’t want random civilians thinking “it’s a scam” as the default when they meet a vet who has a VA rating.1 point

I get that there are legit claims like the viper dudes with neck issues etc. But I have people openly talking about making BS claims for financial gain like its no big deal. Funny that some of the most fiscal conservative “welfare queen” critics will brag about getting 100%, a pension and still fly airlines. Not I how I think it was intended. I’ve been through the process. 20% for a titanium spinal bridge with and ejection seat waiver, lifetime pain management, actually giving up my sports and hobbies. That’s not close to what you can get for claiming allergies. I no kidding know a guy who did 8 yrs active duty as enlisted support. On a deployment he saw (or said he saw) dead marines being brought back to base and says it inflicted ptsd. He’s getting 100% and moved to TX to get full advantage. And that’s not too uncommon. I saw a mx officer openly solicit advice on FB last week on how to maximize her claim. Scammers and opportunists are taking it away from people who really need it. Disclaimer: I hope that guy gets any kind of help he needs. But holy hell, he's been like a poster child of What Not To Do when leaving the military. Going off of memory from previous times he's been in the news: Believe he elected to separate just short of 20 years, and didn't get a retirement. Has worked a couple of random jobs, to include driving a delivery truck. Had a brief stint as a talking head for Fox or something. He seemed to portray his story as he singlehandedly walked into the compound and killed bin Laden, with no accounting for the huge team behind him. Got the impression he expected to walk out the front gate and just be showered with money and praise for the rest of his life, and that he was struggling with the fact that his expectations didn't meet reality.1 point

I didn't know our children still read books. Lol I know that the 20 somethings (with or without a college degree) think they are smart but most of them dont know when world war 2 happened.. not even plus or minus 10 years. Good job academia. My bet is the country will be finished once they start making laws. Good bye military retirement and what was social security? That wont be here either. At least I can marry another man and we can make our children get a sex change. Oh yeah, we had some slaves too at one point and white men are evil. No matter what white man it is or if they have money and power or live under a bridge. They are all bad. There is no wiggle room on this one gents.. sorry. That's just the way it is. Oh, and nobody else is racist. Only white men. And only when the other person can't articulate what I (white man) did to them personally. Not some guy wearing a powered wig 200 years ago. Lol. No more laws in this fucking country. Please stop making them and get rid of at least a 100 hundred of them. Our President is a scumbag. A compulsive liar who does shady business deals using his position in politics. Change my mind.1 point

It's crazy, it started when a VERY right wing group called "Mom's for Liberty" went after the school board wanting 65 books banned and removed from public schools. I will admit a few of those books had VERY graphic sexual content and should not be in elementary and middle school public libraries. The Moms morphed that challenge into anything about LGBQT and race, then it morphed into removing it from the public libraries. I don't think they will be happy until the only book anyone can read is the bible.1 point

WTAF?!? Shut down a public library because a few bible thumping Karens? No Karen, I should not have access to the library restricted because you're worried your kids might pick up a book that encourages free thought on things that may be contrary to your fragile religious views.1 point

That voter ID and legitimate traceable ballots aren't the national standard speaks to the depth of crisis we're already in. Time for a candidate who takes the issue seriously, although I grant I'm not in favor of a civics test (who will test the testers?). Imagine we're watching enemy targets & you stood up in a JOC full of prevaricating pussy Colonels and said "let's just attack these guys and eat their hearts!" I'd support your enthusiasm, agree in principal that attacking is my preferred COA, and get with you later to revisit & tweak the whole cannibalism thing (which I don't support). But let's get things moving in the right direction. That's how I feel here. Addressing boarder chaos, firing our disgraceful SECDEF then purging the military of his acolytes, and ensuring elections are run legitimately are my 3 top voting issues.1 point

I'm in favor of a single age for adulthood. If you think 16 year olds are old enough to vote, they should also be allowed to drink, smoke, join the military, get credit cards, get married, move out, etc. I'm not at all a fan of our tiered approach, where you're an adult for some things but underage for others.1 point

Your article does not provide any actual data, it merely alludes to mathematical errors in the assertion that C19 vaccine causes a higher miscarriage risk. If you want to "debunk the conspiracy" then we'd need to know the number of miscarriages in a non-vaccinated control group compared against the number in the vaccine group, then curate for other factors (lifestyle risk choices, age, overall health, etc.). This should be easy to debunk given that data exists, I wonder why that wasn't part of your article? The only relevant information your linked article provided for those questions was the Pfizer comment that they did testing and do not assess miscarriage as a risk. Except they've lied about many things during the pandemic, including efficacy of the shot. **Edited to add: I did read the linked Sep 21 article claiming to prove no relation between vaccine and miscarriage; too old & not good enough, I want the Pfizer study data.** So good luck debunking conspiracies, I mean that genuinely. But denial & counter-accusation does not actually debunk it. Release of all raw testing data might. The appeal to authority is unconvincing in light of complete failure, uncovered deception and corruption by the authorities.0 points

The burden of proof rests with the person making the assertion. What evidence do you have that the vaccines did cause all these additional miscarriages? Aside from counting multiple instances in the report twice to get a more alarming number, that is?-1 points
-
Ah. "I don't like the vaccines, I can make up anything I want and it's on you to prove me wrong". You guys are about as coherent as flat earthers with your arguments. For what it's worth, I don't think the vaccines should be mandatory for anyone and I'll even give you the point that they don't work nearly as well as advertised. I think you hurt your own argument when you completely make up new, scary side-effects that aren't supported by the data.-1 points

So...a couple high profile cases are more compelling to you than any actual statistical data? I'm not going to keep arguing it with you. You've found a topic you're passionate about, and you won't be convinced otherwise. Unlike you, I can be convinced by data...and it turns out there's a lot of studies that show people who hold emotional views not only can't be swayed by data, they actually just dig in as you present data contrary to their opinion. Dont get vaccinated. Don't get your kids vaccinated. I don't care.-1 points
