I've only met a couple kids like this. In every case the parents are completely disengaged. This is why I laugh when older generations hate on younger generations, as if they had no hand at all in how those kids turned out. We don't have a lazy kid problem. We have a lazy parent problem. I'm with the rest of you gents. A kid in high school, and one in middle school. They both have their plans pretty well wired. It's awesome to see.4 points

It’s funny to see people try to act differently today when this is how they were 2 years ago. It’s ok to have been wrong in the past, and it’s ok to even change your mind. I’ll even forgive people for being jerks if they show remorse and humility. But people need to own what they said/did and tell people they were wrong and a complete jerk. Anything less than that, well, then I’ll assume they’re the same person as two years ago.3 points

You're quite right, the burden of proof rests with the person making the assertion. The assertion made is that we must get vaccinated, it is the safe & effective way to "stop the spread." You should be prepared to convince a pregnant mom, not presume to order her. You pro-vaccine zealots don't get it; 100% of the burden to prove vaccine validity is on you. This isn't a tit for tat discussion, you need overwhelming evidence from impartial sources and total data transparency or no one will believe you. You don't have it. Would you force your wife to take the clot shot while pregnant if risk of miscarriage increase was only 1%? Which is greater: the risk a young woman will have and spread covid so severe it threatens her life and others, or the risk this shot will harm her unborn baby? Since you can't answer those question, you shouldn't be shaming people misreading data to err on the side of cautious prenatal care.3 points

@pawnman You said if people didn’t get the vax due to doctor rec, you were ok with that. If they didn’t get it for any other reason, you said you don’t respect that decision. So, you explicitly stated you did not respect individual medical freedom in 2021. And you backed that stance up with garbage info that has been substantially refuted since then. Those are facts, not strawmen.2 points

Your words two years ago speak for themselves. You were against everyday folks who didn’t want to get the vaccine, and then who didn’t want wear a mask, didn’t want to social distance, etc. I’m just pointing out that you were being a complete jerk and believed that what you were being told was true—that if someone fell into the camp above, that they were wrong. So unless you would like to admit that you were being a jerk and that you were wrong, I just reposted your words for everyone else to read once more.2 points

Achievers are still out there. My kid is a junior in high school and wants to be a fighter pilot (god help me). I've taken his circle of friends camping a bunch and I always ask what they want to do when they grow up, through the years they have remained constant once they got off the NASCAR driver football player track. Two want to be military officers (one of those a military doctor), one a computer programmer (making games), one can already weld like a pro and he wants to be a heavy equipment operator, the last one wants to design rockets for SpaceX. Three play football and the others run cross country. Here is the really surprising part to me, my son is all AP and honors with a 4.43 GPA but there are 41 kids with higher GPA's above him out of 650+ in his year group. Have any of you looked at how hard it is to get into some Universities these days? Average GPA at some of the big Florida schools: U of Florida - 4.41, Florida State University - 4.07, UCF - 4.05, U of Miami 3.6 (unweighted). There are achievers in the next generation, don't believe the hype.2 points

3 years into the covid debate and I'm still waiting for the mass outrage over yearly flu shots, anthrax boosters, malaria pills for places that barely have malaria, and countless other onerous military medical requirements everyone just blindly accepts. Oh I forgot, none of those are political lightning rods so no one cares.1 point

That’s the secret you don’t really get until later in your career…you can’t do it by yourself. And every community needs studs so don’t think because someone is flying a Viper or Tanker instead of a Raptor that they are less than.1 point

I get the curiosity, but this is the internet and you should not expect anyone who actually knows anything about these aircraft or missions to give the types of responses you’re hoping for (this also serves as a reminder to the bros out there). If you ever make it to any of these, you’ll love whichever it is and learn to appreciate the strengths of the others.1 point

Yup. Every Boomer: "Your generation is used to getting a participation trophy for everything!" Me: "And who exactly bought those participation trophies? Was it the 8 year olds, or their boomer parents?" Boomers: ..........1 point

Agreed. Between just my two kids one wants to be a clinical psychologist and the other wants to be Cookie Monster, so I think the future is bright. The future shrink is in middle school and is well on the way to achieving her dreams, while the Cookie Monster one is only 14 months old, so she's got time to trim her sails into something a bit less glamorous and wildly successful. 😆1 point

Great. I was never on the side of the mandate cultists. You guys have just decided that anyone who doesn't believe the vaccines will sterilize you daughters and kill your sons must be on the side of mandates. I was on the side of "get the vaccine so we can get back to normal". I've been bitterly disappointed at the long-term efficacy of the vaccines. I don't believe they are any more dangerous or damaging than any of the dozens of vaccines already on the vaccination schedule. Now, before someone drags up previous posts for a "gotcha" moment, I want to make a distinction. I believe Biden and the DoD had the legal authority to order service members to get vaccinated. That doesn't mean I think it was a good idea. I NEVER supported the idea of a nation-wide mandate for the vaccines.1 point

I really don't think they understand that the problem was the vaccine being forced on people, not that there was a vaccine.1 point

Literally every 5-10 years there's a prediction that when the younger generation takes over, it's all over, the country's going to hell in a handbasket, etc. We're gonna be just fine. Old men will always yell at clouds and the world will continue to turn. As an example...1 point

Not to demean but have you ever been briefed on Raptor, F-15EX, F-35 capes to actually know the hierarchy and comparison of what jets are most capable and should be “feared” in missions sets? I find a lot of fanboys talk of the A-10 and F-22 among others and don’t know anything outside airshow hype. And I wouldn’t expect NGAD in the guard in the next 15+ years if ever. I'm in favor of a single age for adulthood. If you think 16 year olds are old enough to vote, they should also be allowed to drink, smoke, join the military, get credit cards, get married, move out, etc. I'm not at all a fan of our tiered approach, where you're an adult for some things but underage for others.1 point

Surprised yet not surprised at the support for Vivek, IMHO he is dangerous and radical! Have you guys actually read his policy proposals? 1. He wants to raise the voting age to 25 by AMENDING the Constitution and require a civics test to vote. As populist as that sounds cool...but Holy freaking suppression of voting rights. Have you ever noticed it is the radicals that want to amend the Constitution? 2. He wants to abolish the FBI. I am not a fan of the weaponsization of the FBI and while I support some serious retooling, but abolishing the FBI would have an astounding impact on the security of this nation. His plan is to redistribute those funds to the Secret Service and DIA...the absolute ignorance is astounding. 3. “Climate change is a hoax." Do you guys really believe that? We have dumped trillions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere and it most certainly has had an impact. That being said I think we should drill and go back to being energy independent. If I were king for a day I would place a reasonable tax on energy sources derived from govt land and by law channel it ALL into a Manhattan like project to solve fusion or other cleaner energies. 4. On the debate stage Wednesday night, Ramaswamy said the United States “pays single women more not to have a man in the house than to have a man in the house, contributing to an epidemic of fatherlessness.” I agree with this statement, especially as it relates to minorities (67% of African American children are born into fatherless household). HOWEVER, what program would he cut...support to single moms? This has been tried many times and some key programs were cut under Clinton but the problem has only worsened because it is a social cultural issue. 5. I can support cutting the Dept of Education but his suggestion to cut the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is again pure ignorance. He thinks they are the obstacle to greater use of nuclear energy, it is actually the leadership appointed by politicians. They do serve a purpose. Finally, after commenting "now that all the rehearsed lines are out of the way" he started rolling out all of his own. If you think that was just extemporaneous replies I have some swamp land in Arizona to sell you. I thought Desantis did better and policy wise he is closest to what I would to see. He does have some issues that will hurt him, the 6 week abortion law in Florida is going to kick his ass with the folks int he middle. As a Floridian he has also failed to deal with the Homeowners insurance crisis here and it is starting to drag him down locally. I did not and will not watch the Trump debate, between him and Tucker I have had enough narcissistic bloviating for a lifetime.1 point

Friday night, Beale had a Skillet, Hoobastank and Dirty Hooks concert on the flightline. Skillet was headliner and the performance, lights, stage effect, etc... was fantastic. They told me they were going to Travis (last night), Vanderburg, Edwards, Cannon, Dyess, and Laughlin. I don't think the word got out like it should have... but if you're at any of those bases, don't miss it. Great show! They apparently enjoy doing these military tours. Cory B, who has well over 1,000 U-2 sorties, landed while I was running the band around Friday afternoon, and we got a good shot with him and them.1 point

Butte MT is a fantastic summertime OST location with great flying in all directions, a well equipped FBO, a few nice distilleries in their small downtown area and easy hikes in close proximity. Unfortunately you'll have to watch out for the former SEAL actually asking people for free drinks because he shot UBL.0 points

The burden of proof rests with the person making the assertion. What evidence do you have that the vaccines did cause all these additional miscarriages? Aside from counting multiple instances in the report twice to get a more alarming number, that is?-1 points
