https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/governor-bans-carrying-guns-in-albuquerque-after-11-year-old-killed/article_a02a0b24-4e59-11ee-85ee-db977338b047.html NM Governor bans legal carrying of weapons to prevent criminals from committing illegal shootings. Of course she herself enjoys armed protective guards, but you aren't allowed the same privileges. The order cites Gun violence as a public health emergency, and is only for 30 days to flatten to curve. Can't make this up, democrats are the party of tyrants.6 points

It will take 5 -10 years to reach SCOTUS. A right delayed is a right denied. The process is the punishment.4 points

Sanctuary cities? Yeah, not so much anymore. Turns out virtue signaling has consequences. It’s funny listening to Mayor Adams blame Texas. I think Texas has bussed 13k illegals to NYC. Apparently, there are over 100k illegals in NYC at this point. It’s your dem policies not Texas that has you jammed up Mayor…. It’s also funny how the federal government was and probably is still flying illegals around the country but Governors bussing them is the problem. As for NM, I always get a kick out of the “blame the gun crowd”. It’s the most ignorant, weak and chicken shit argument anyone can make. It’s patently absurd to think crime will slow down because you ask people to put their guns away. I’m not an expert in how the DAs in NM treat crime but I’m guessing they are pretty soft on criminals.3 points

It will take years to get there, if ever, and too bad for anyone arrested in the meantime (loss of security clearance is a real possibility for our bros in ABQ). Not to mention anyone killed by a criminal who has lost the official right to defend themselves. There will never be any personal consequences for the tyrant democrats issuing anti-constitutional dictates. There’s a school of thought that the constitution is our unifying philosophy and any changes/limits should be addressed via legislative branch in a manner the constitution itself allows for. There’s a competing school of thought that once we have power we should just do what we want and see if anyone is willing & able to pushback. Might makes right, if you will. If you want to sue to stop it, go ahead and try… but expect the FBI to interview extended family, the NSA to search your browsing history and share with The NY Times, the IRS to audit you with a fine tooth comb, etc. All of those things have happened to those who push back (what happened to Tea Party members 10-12 years ago was criminal). If you follow this to its logical conclusion, the next step will be separating families for teaching hate speech. Already happening in Canada. We do not live in a free country anymore.3 points

I think its funny. Being a Californian, I think Texas should keep bussing them here and everywhere else in the US. Its funny watching the "leaders" lose their mind trying to explain why we can't handle more "illegals" all the while acting like we don't have a problem. Its not the "they're taking our jobs" aspect, there isnt much hope there either. I see quite a few "undocumented people" living in Coyote Creek by my house. They aren't coming here and getting easy jobs as much as they used to (economic problems, here in the US, no, it can't be). It's more of escaping an even shittier life than living in a ditch by Biff's house. I don't care about the illegal immigrant problem, I care more about the hypocrisy coming out of the liberal mouths that claim we can help, when we actually can't anymore. If we (CA) can't handle a bus of Spaniards shipped from Texas, admit that there is a problem. Fucking idiots rule the US. I wish I was exaggerating.3 points

Miranda Viscoli, co-president of New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, applauded the governor’s order as a courageous and necessary step to curbing gun violence, even if the measure’s legal fate is uncertain. “If it saves one life, then it’s worth doing,” Viscoli said. gee where have we heard that trope before?!2 points

Seriously consider what Biff said. Honestly I think those of us who have been lucky enough to spend our entire careers flying are overall more happy than we would have been going to school/staff/touch and go flying assignment/back to school, etc. I’ve outflown the hell out of my friends who stayed AD and have been wrapped up in that path. Wouldn’t trade my experience for theirs for $10M bucks…I know that’s wholly subjective, but don’t believe the management hype that the “typical” AD career must look like the cycle I described above.2 points

She's just not that into you. The only fools are the ones who stay. It may suck to be a warrior in a time when warriors are not needed, but it sucks more to be a warrior in an organization that is openly hostile to warriors. They court martialed Billy Mitchell. Nothing changes, just the numbers on the calendar.2 points

Can you make it to retirement or perhaps stay afloat long enough to jump to an ANG unit? If so, in reality you are in a good position to just be a flier. Nothing wrong with that, the squadrons always need a few flying silverbacks. For flying mentorship. The young dudes dont learn how to "fly" from their CCs and DOs, its those crusty Majors and Lt Cols (and a few 2nd assignment dudes) that keep the young dudes in check or pass good flying knowledge down. There is a difference between the flying airforce and the promotion airforce lol.1 point

Fuck you and your misdemeanor governor. I wouldn’t change my carry habits at all if I was in NM.1 point

Oldie, but can verify that the dude has always been an arrogant, narcissistic, self serving, attention seeking douchebag that will eff over his peers in a heartbeat to get ahead. Seems like he went to Harvard so now he’s someone else’s problem until he gets picked up for a USD position and joins the ranks of other affirmative action hires that have no business touching anything in our military’s decision making problem.1 point

Other than on...certain websites...I never like to see people getting f*cked. That being said, FOMOing into investments and getting burned is basically Adam Smith's invisible hand pimp-slapping people for being dumb. IMHO boring investments and ones you really, really understand win every time. Index funds. Rental real estate where you know the area. Businesses where you have specific domain expertise or unique value over potential competitors. YOLOing into STRs, crypto, NFTs, laundromats, "creator class" revenue streams (onlyfans, selling courses, whatever) will almost never work out for most people.1 point

Selected to fly the most advanced fighter in the world, yet still a victim. Everyone must assimilate when they join regardless of race. I didn't find any of this exclusive to race. As a large male with a deep voice this is par for the course in the woke AF. You will intimidate people. I didn't notice it until my non-flying staff job with nonners that just stared at my wings. Glad I am retiring.1 point

Thanks for the information everyone. Your replies constitute more mentorship than I've received in real life over the last four years, which I suppose is telling in and of itself. I'll continue controlling the the stuff I can control, remaining an asset to leadership and the young bucks, and making sure I am prepared for whatever big blue decides to do with me.1 point

Slife is one of two in AFOSC that provide slamdunk proof the supposed USAF interest in climate and culture is nothing but lip service. He is a well known narcissistic megalomaniac. Many believe he is on the spectrum and it manifests in the way he treats people including his wife. At a commander's event at his house his wife said something he didn't like so he took her down the hall and verbally ripped her in a tone and volume that the officers under his command could clearly hear. I should be shocked that nothing came of that...but alas I am not given the dysfunction in AFSOC. His command philosophy was summed up to me by another three star...when it comes to Jim there are "DOJ's" (Disciples of Jim), and Clydesdale. If he picks you as a DOJ you will be cared for and protected. If you are a Clydesdale you are expected to work and pull the wagon until you fall over dead. On a CSB he argued we should not put Lt Col's on the Eagle list unless they were BPZ...yes his metric for command was being below the zone. He did it again for the O-6 CSB and argued against making Farrell the OG at Cannon because he was an on time guy and would never be a GO. For the record Farrell was just nominated for his third star. There are so many other incidents and stories but it doesn't matter. Evil prevailed and sadly a lot of damage will be done.0 points
