USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park is thankful to have received a generous donation of two aircraft made by the legendary singer and Mobile native, Jimmy Buffett. When the aircraft first arrived at the park, in 2022, Buffett wished to remain an anonymous donor. As the world mourns his passing, we are pleased to finally be able to share his generous contributions to the park. The Grumman Goose and Boeing Stearman are both on display in the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion. Visitors will see a wreath and an iconic Hawaiian-styled shirt that has been placed by the Grumman Goose in honor of Buffett.

Most US Military helicopters have been designed for the right seater to be the AC. Various missions/training sorties result in various seat positions. When I flew single pilot FCF flights in the Huey, I was required to fly in the right seat. All the important shit is on the Right seat collective and cyclic while the whole aircraft is designed around the right seater being in charge. The Huey didn’t have autopilot, so on an operational mission in the mountains I’d sit in the right seat as well. I didn’t want to fuck around in a hover trying to let the new guy get some experience with a dude dangling out of the aircraft. Doing escort missions, no hoist, I’d switch seats (not if the co was too new). Definitely on a training sortie I’d let the co sit in the right seat but in real life, if dude was too new and the flying environment was questionable, he’d be on the left. Sometimes we flew missions with a FE in the left seat. No copilot. Paves will differ as with USA, USN and USMC helos but for the most part, they follow something similar to this or what @Bigred described. Edit: If I was giving an evaluation to someone as badass as Roberta, I wouldn’t just ask her yes or no answers. I wanna know how she thinks (I learned shit doing this as an Evaluator while giving checkrides, sometimes the knowledge I gained was useful). This would never be a question I’d ask a real helicopter pilot/sma, but I’d definitely throw a softball like this to person who never stepped foot in a US helo but claimed they did time in one. Remember, Roberta flew Hueys, Pavelows and Pavehawks. She would know the answer. Lol Oh and she's a Viper driver as well. Lol

Worst part is she issued it knowing that the court would toss it. Politicians who do that need to be held personally financially responsible (or jail time) when the court tosses it. Put a little of their own skin in the game to stop them from knowingly tramping all over people's rights.

In the helos I flew, the left seat pilot ran the mission while the right seat was the flying pilot. We’d typically switch seats every few flights to keep current on both sides. There was no designated ‘AC’ seat.

It will take years to get there, if ever, and too bad for anyone arrested in the meantime (loss of security clearance is a real possibility for our bros in ABQ). Not to mention anyone killed by a criminal who has lost the official right to defend themselves. There will never be any personal consequences for the tyrant democrats issuing anti-constitutional dictates. There’s a school of thought that the constitution is our unifying philosophy and any changes/limits should be addressed via legislative branch in a manner the constitution itself allows for. There’s a competing school of thought that once we have power we should just do what we want and see if anyone is willing & able to pushback. Might makes right, if you will. If you want to sue to stop it, go ahead and try… but expect the FBI to interview extended family, the NSA to search your browsing history and share with The NY Times, the IRS to audit you with a fine tooth comb, etc. All of those things have happened to those who push back (what happened to Tea Party members 10-12 years ago was criminal). If you follow this to its logical conclusion, the next step will be separating families for teaching hate speech. Already happening in Canada. We do not live in a free country anymore.

Honestly I think those of us who have been lucky enough to spend our entire careers flying are overall more happy than we would have been going to school/staff/touch and go flying assignment/back to school, etc. I’ve outflown the hell out of my friends who stayed AD and have been wrapped up in that path. Wouldn’t trade my experience for theirs for $10M bucks…I know that’s wholly subjective, but don’t believe the management hype that the “typical” AD career must look like the cycle I described above.

Can you make it to retirement or perhaps stay afloat long enough to jump to an ANG unit? If so, in reality you are in a good position to just be a flier. Nothing wrong with that, the squadrons always need a few flying silverbacks. For flying mentorship. The young dudes dont learn how to "fly" from their CCs and DOs, its those crusty Majors and Lt Cols (and a few 2nd assignment dudes) that keep the young dudes in check or pass good flying knowledge down. There is a difference between the flying airforce and the promotion airforce lol.

If anyone tells you otherwise, irrespective of their rank, they are not telling you the truth. - The U-2 Program is accepting FAIP's. We have accepted FAIPS for at least 35 years, and there are no plans to stop hiring FAIPs. If anyone tells you otherwise, irrespective of their rank, they are not telling you the truth. - We now have some wiggle room on minimum hours. So if that is a concern, call us. We might be able to waive some of your hours. I don't know if this bad info emanates from the staff... or from UPT SQ/CC's (like it did a number of years ago)... or from exactly where. If you want the truth about the U-2 assignment, don't speak to your DO, nor your commander. Don't speak to AFPC (until it's time to get released, anyways).
