  1. For the dumb wrench benders out there, MIT stands for Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Not, Maintenance Intelligence Training.

  2. Good luck with that. What you call breaking the system looks a lot like self sabotage and letting the left run away with the game. But to each their own. Can't wait for trump and the maga coalition, (who blew the budget out so badly only Biden is worse) to finally reign in our spending /s šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

  3. Regardless of where you stand, Roe v Wade was poorly written with little constitutional support. It should have been returned to the states long ago. Even LA Time admitted it was legally shaky. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2022-05-03/how-roe-vs-wade-went-wrong-broad-new-right-to-abortion-rested-on-a-shaky-legal-foundation The GOP neutered their own red wave. They spent millions on a R vs R senate race in Alaska to make sure RINO Murkowski was reelected and avoid another America First senator. That funding may have flipped AZ or MI senate seats, but the GOP would rather have uniparty dems than another anti-establishment conservative. Spending has to be controlled unless you are ready for hyper inflation. If we have to break the system to fix it, no time to start like the present. I am one of those dangerous MAGA republicans.

  4. Oh they get it, trust me...they really get it. They know the other issues and the price that will be paid but this was THE issue and it was worth if it is "saves millions of innocent lives." I've been fairly vocal on my position, despite a deep faith and coming from strong Irish Catholic background (I have two aunts that are nuns), I am pro choice and think dogmatic dedication to this third rail issue deals a serious blow to GOP chances in the next election (as realized in the mid-terms). Punchline, the base on both sides is F'd up! As for Gaetz, what a clown, when just 8 members of the house can completely derail our ability to govern...complete chaos. Gaetz has a vendetta against McCarthy and if anyone thinks a more hardcore GOP Speaker is going to for the DNC to make concessions when they own both the Senate and the White House...you are smoking crack. This is the type of divide the framers planned for, it was meant to drive discussion, debate and compromise. If both side were unhappy with the deal then it was probably a good deal. As for the DNC, what complete and utter hypocrisy. They constantly scream about the danger of MAGA Republicans then they turn around and unanimously side with those same MAGA douchebags to unseat the Speaker, especially after Nancy promised they wouldn't and all for political gain at the cost of dysfunction and chaos in our governance. I am sure there will be DNC apologists on here but my god man, hang your heads in absolute shame.

  5. And it was not just limited to NATO countries either, the Soviets had similar plans for Sweden. The Russians learned the hard way not to tango in mock dogfights with Swedish Viggens and often stalled their aircraft with trying to turn into a Viggen at low altitude! Soviet sports and Olympic teams were filled with Spetsnaz agents and were more ā€œfreeā€ to wander around in target countries without a KGB keeper that their teammates had to endure!

  6. I think the age of the ring knockers is mostly dead...diminished for sure. I think I view it more as a stepping stone, he thinks the things they do are cool and he is flattered they reached out to him. He is a good athlete but is a nerd at heart. He was selected for the Experimental Science Robotics Team which placed second in the nation last year. FWIW I view MIT (and Stanford), as better than Ivy in the science and engineering world and I think most others do as well. Interestingly he got an email from Dartmouth today.

  9. Well as an MIT dude I feel obliged to say itā€™s not Ivy League šŸ˜‚ But besides being ā€œthat guyā€, I cannot recommend it enough. I went as a prior E and there was a couple other folks I met there who were prior E. Every dude/girl who was in ROTC that wanted Pilot got it. It was filled with so many folks who have no interest in going Pilot. Now Iā€™m still just a lowly dumb wrench bender so I canā€™t speak to how the USAFA opens leadership doors in the AF but I can vouch that MIT opens so many doors in every other place. It is an unbelievable place that puts you on the leading edge of so many exciting opportunities. But I wouldnā€™t recommend MIT as just a stepping stone, Itā€™s a tool for passionate people not just a piece of paper. edit: guess just to sum it up, if he goes to MIT and meets the grades he will get pilot for sure. Unless the world falls apart of course. And I just realized my data is like 5 years old but Iā€™m confident it still holds true today.

  16. Probably why the crash pad market is booming there. Also I wouldn't want to stay in a hotel either for a long term TDY. I want somewhere with a kitchen so I can buy and cook my own food. Hot tubs and pool tables and PlayStations are nice but a kitchen is the #1 quality of life thing I look for on any TDY longer than about a month.

  17. I'm amazed that in this day and age, someone would think this is ok to do outside of a Demo Team. I'd be equally surprised if other airshow performers there didn't question it after they saw it. Any word what happened to the pilot?

  19. If there's one thing the Air Force pilot pipeline managers constantly forget and have to re-learn, it's that teaching skills at the lowest possible level in the cheapest airframe always pays dividends. Passing the buck to b-courses to teach fundamentals that should have been learned in IFS/UPT/IFF is 100% of the time a giant waste of money. The temptation to green up slides over doing the things that actually make sense is going to run our service into the ground. Whenever this comes up I like to tell people some napkin math I did a few years back: I used more JP8 in my first 8 sorties in my MWS than I did in 3 years/1100 hrs in the T-6.
