I’ve noticed that many on the left no longer believe “democracies need to be able to defend themselves from those who that attack their sovereignty” as of a few days ago. Whoever actually thought that the left actually supported Ukraine because of “democracy” were easily duped…fortunately I’ve learned over the years that the leftists support leftist ideology, and everything else they say/do is a distraction.4 points

At this point, I don't think that dude actually reads anything, he just downvotes my username. Fuck 'em. I honestly try to empathize and imagine myself in the position that the average Israeli and Palestinian finds themselves in. There's plenty to be angry about on both sides and plenty of blame to go around. Conflict and killing is a messy business and there will always be a loss of innocent life. It's a terrible thing but an inextricable part of human existence. For me, the difference is that in addition to inflicting death, Hamas planned to kidnap, target women & children & elderly, rape, torture, publicly glorify it, then publicly parade the desecrated bodies through the streets. Whatever sympathies I may have had for the average Palestinan by imagining their plight are instantly lost on anyone who would endorse or make excuses for that sort of thing.3 points

This morning, Israel has invoked Article 40 Aleph, a formal declaration of war, for the first time in 50 years. (1973, Yom Kippur). 9/11: Nine-eleven of 2023, that is. Biden and Blinken authorize $6 Billion in funds to Iran. The next day, Lester Holt interviewed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and pressed him on how the funds would be spent. Raisi said: “Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people needs, so this money will be budgeted for those needs, and the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined by the Iranian government.” Now, we have Iranian backed Hamas launching an unprecedented attack into Israel, kidnapping and slaughtering civilians. There are numerous videos and unconfirmed reports of Hamas terrorists wielding US made weapons with some claiming they are grateful to the people of Ukraine for allowing Hamas to purchase them. The Taliban is claiming they are sending fighters to Palestine to destroy Jerusalem. But, where will they get the weapons and equipment? Now, the US is working out emergency military aid to Israel. Billion dollar solutions to our Billion dollar fkups. So Israel is going to absolutely lay waste to Palestinian territories, which will most definitely inflame the Islamic world and shred the Abraham Accords. Will Israel finally go after Iran? Will they be able to do it without massive US support? The collapse of Afghanistan, The invasion of Ukraine, and The war in Israel. All of these things, in addition to the domestic issues of inflation, unchecked immigration, insane levels of debt have accelerated in a very, very short period of time under the current leadership of the US. I suppose we get what we're willing to accept.3 points

So I think I understand you to mean: You strongly believe that animals do not have rights. Therefore, laws that treat animals differently are hypocrisy. For example, if a person supports shooting a coyote (and leaving it to rot, I guess?) but not fighting dogs, that they’re a hypocrite. Therefore your preference is that dog fighting be legal to avoid hypocrisy? Does this attachment to the idea that animals don’t have rights make your life so much easier to live that you’d prefer a world in which dog fighting is legal? It’s a strange hill, bro.2 points

Well, you wouldn’t want their citizens to own ARs, Tavor’s, etc…according to the left in the US, those are weapons of war that ordinary citizens shouldn’t be able to own.2 points

Highly doubtful, especially with regard to taking territory in Gaza. Freeing American citizens and giving payback for killing Americans on the other hand... This has to be tied back to actions/actions against Iran. Hamas receives 93% of it's military budget from Iran. The Quds force more than likely was aware, helped with intel/planning and gave at least tacit approval. Given the monetary support from Iran I hope it is not lost on the masses that the Big Guy gave Iran $6 Billion two weeks ago...its not rocket surgery to see how that played out.2 points

I believe you can judge someone by who they call their friends. Hamas considers Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, The Squad, etc. their friends (and vice versa). All evil and wicked. That should tell you all you need to know.2 points

Click bait title. That dude is not speaking for “Iraqi Forces” in that speech. More like a regional political leader/borderline sectarian insurgent group head. Break, break. I laugh every time I see young liberal white women protesting on behalf of the Palestinian cause. Talk about being completely clueless supporting a deeply misogynistic culture. But as long as it supporting something that’s involving people with brown skin, it must be the right thing!1 point

apropos of nothing, this "legal vs moral" debate reminded of a skit with ol' billy Burr, about people remarking it's legal for stay-at-home prospectors to financially scalp high earning spouses in divorce: a woman in the audience smugly throws the rationalization: "well, that's what the law says!" and Billy goes : "yeah? 100 years ago I could beat you with a broomstick for backtalking! ....tHat's wHat tHe lAw sAiD". May not "win" an argument in nerd debate club, but he's a winner in my book 😄1 point

I just we're just arguing semantics at this point. You are not allowed to beat your dog. Depending on how you do it, or the jury at the time, you will go to jail for doing it. If that doesn't mean that your dog has a "Right" then that's fine, but the effect is the same. Both your child and your dog have a right not to be beaten, or at the very least, there is a law preventing you from doing so. They certainly have different rights, but that is because in both instances the line is drawn somewhere between the two absolutes of total and no control, just at different points. It is also illegal in certain states to eat cats and dogs, so those particular animals, both of which you are capable of owning, seem to have "rights" of some sort as well.1 point

“By Water Beneath the Walls” by Ben Milligan is really an interesting read. It’s a very in depth story on the history of the Navy SEALs from their WW2 beginnings to modern day. Much more academic than dramatic.1 point

There’s quite a few out there on the fighter pilot topic. Mike Manazir’s book is good. Anything by Ed Rasimus is really good. Dan Pedersen’s book about the creation of Top Gun is good. Dan Hampton has several good books. Give those a look.1 point

Not remotely what I am referring to. But cool dude, you seem to be really interested in a dick measuring contest. Have fun with that. I’m only here to say America is capable of doing what needs to be done, the only question is what does our current crop of leadership decide to do. I do not concur with implications that we’re not capable, that’s all I’m saying.1 point

Yeah, I kind of agree with lawman on this one, we have certainly unchained our fighting forces to destroy a specific enemy, but that enemy is not a nation. It's a military target It would be fascinating to see how it plays out if we did. Imagine targeting every power production facility in every major city of a developed enemy nation. Or targeting the waste water treatment plants, which there aren't many and they're not hardened. Then just wait to see what a metro area of millions looks like with no functional sewage system. I bet there are tons of horrifying options that are easily targeted.1 point

Anybody that thinks they did this without the Quds force providing support and coordination is kidding themselves. Also our resident Palestinian congresswoman has been silent on the death toll or abduction of Israeli women and children. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Well then. Seems like this is all going swimmingly. Good thing we have strong, savvy, and decisive leadership in the US. Over-under on real actions in the Taiwan straits before the next US election?1 point

You are already getting down votes because our liberal friends are still "mostly happy with Biden." I've been watching Al Jazeera this morning to see how the narratives are shaping up. At one point they were interviewing the main spokesman for Hamas Ghazi Hamad. How can anyone down vote when the Hamad himself admits to the BBC that Iran gave its support to the Palestinian terror group to launch its surprise multi-front attack on Israel. What did you think would happen when you handed Iran $6B? The Al Jazeera reporter actually tried to press him on the subject of killing civilians, the reply from Hamad..."yes it is wrong to attack and kill civilians like the Israelis have done, we are attacking settlers which is different as they are war criminals."1 point

Absolutely possible, but low chance of success. How: Rush units and convince them to hire you and secure the required T-38 TX, IFF, and B-Course training spots. Why it’s hard: well why does a unit want to risk a heavy guy making it through all that when they can hire dudes that don’t need any of those courses and are already fighter experienced? Also, that’s 1.5-2 yrs in a pipeline as an “old” guy that the unit doesn’t get shit out of you. Then when you’re done with training, you’re a “pretty old” guy basically starting at the beginning and less useful than the 25-28 yr old LT/Capt. Rush less desirable units (location, politics, etc) and you’ll have a better shot, but that really probably means you went from .05 PK to .1 PK. Thats the reality - not saying don’t go for it, but chance of success is very slim.1 point

A great read and I now view Grant in a new light. I would now argue his efforts to keep the union together and prevent a second Civil War are on par with Lincolns efforts leading up to and during the Civil War. To Rescue the Republic: Ulysses S. Any insight on T-38 PIT being coded as a PCS now? A friend of mine just got orders for a PCS to Randolph for PIT prior to assignment at Columbus. I've heard the time to completion has recently been getting longer (sts) due to mx issues with the 38. The ETCA announcement still says it's a TDY out-and-back but they haven't updated course information since January. If they formally extended the course length past 20 weeks then I think 36-2110 rules regarding PCS vs TDY for training apply. That's the only explanation I can think of. Trying to make some life plans, and this would certainly change things...-1 points
