Haven't seen any video of beheaded babies but I did see a video that puts that in the realm of possibility. The Hamas animals had shot a guy and he is laying on the ground probably dying but not dead. So, seeing how this person is defenseless, why not not kick him in the head and beat on him with your gun or whatever you have handy. The guy on the ground makes a very weak attempt to cover his face. At this point, one of these barbarians enters the video with a large rusty garden hoe and begins to chop at this guys neck to cut his head off. Again, the defenseless guy on the ground is not dead when this begins but after a few wacks, he isn't moving anymore. Curtis Lemay said, "You kill enough of them, they will stop fighting." Israel needs to kill enough, preferably all, of them so they leave Israel and hopefully the rest of civilization alone.5 points

The blockade of a country by two countries that surround it and the ocean next to it usually negatively impacts said country. I’m not saying I disagree with the blockade entirely, but it definitely doesn’t help the civilians trying to survive in Gaza. I’ve got to say, as a generally conservative individual, every time you wade into a political/philosophical discussion I can’t help but imagine you as Billy Madison talking about the puppy that lost his way. You are the Omar/Tlaib of the right on BO, and every time you post something with zero critical thought that was spewed by Fox News, this is the reaction from the rest of the conservatives. How are you not on comment CAP after mistaking the CJCS as the CSAF. You realize the uniforms are a different color right?5 points

Yeah, it's bad. I try to remain stoic while attempting to get the facts and assess the situation, but this is some horrific stuff. This attack was designed to provoke an emotional response, and it certainly worked on me. I can't imagine being close to the event. But could there be anything more satisfying to this evil than seeing the leadership of the most powerful nation in the world openly weeping on live TV? Somewhere on our path to modern Western society, it became tolerable for full grown men to lose their composure and put their weakness on full display when representing a superpower during a 60 second news segment. Process your grief elsewhere, then man up and demonstrate that we are a nation of strength, not weakness, and give the public faith that we can make sound rational decisions during dangerous times. It's like looking over at the other cockpit and seeing your lead crying just before you launch a night tac LL formation airdrop in mountainous terrain. WTF? Kirby crying may not be a huge deal in itself, but it affirms my suspicions that this administration is going to fuck this up as bad as everything else in the last 3 years.3 points

That's actually not what he said. If you listen to the whole briefing, the question the reporter asked was in regard to how long existing appropriations would last for both Israel and Ukraine before additional Congressional action needed to be taken to continue that funding. Action that can't be taken due to the lack of a Speaker as of now. The end of the rope was the currently approved funding, not the end of the rope of aid to Ukraine. Of course a carefully edited twitter snip doesn't capture that... White House Daily Briefing | October 11, 2023 | C-SPAN.org 39:00 if you want to hear the full question and answer.2 points

Writing some excuses as to why its OK for innocent children to be decapitated and set on fire. I am tired of Beta Males and stupid bitches fucking up the world. Send them to Gaza as peace keepers. Please go. Put your money where your mouth is. Show us how to solve this problem with peace and understanding. They will applaud you. You will change the world with your hollow words. Remember abortion (killing of some sort of helpless creature inside of a woman)? War is like abortion for adults. Here is your time to shine with your Palestinian lovers.2 points

Israel can (and should) do whatever Israel believes they need to do. Now as to the question of US direct involvement…I think that would be a mistake. Which is why I think Biden is bluffing as I don’t see him authorizing an attack to support Israel. So just like Obama’s “red line”…it’s stupid to say this if you’re not going to do anything when it’s crossed. Side note—where are our resident leftists on this forum? Aren’t they all about democracies being able to defend themselves when attacked? Or does this just apply to when Russia is the aggressor?2 points

All valid points but my thought is if you’re dealt a shit hand, do something about it. Same thing applied to Afghanistan. All these young men that are poor helpless victims that do nothing to improve their situation don’t get much sympathy from me. My depression era grandfather fought in WW2 with no high school education and died after building a million dollar business and raising a family. He also was part Lakota Sioux who looked like Sitting Bull. Definitely didn’t help much in South Dakota. Having said that, I won’t pretend that a dude with brown skin in post WW2 America had it harder than kids in Gaza. Hell, look at what Israel did from the literal first day of existing as a country (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Arab–Israeli_War). They’ve fought for it against the surrounding Arab countries. In my mind, if Hamas views what they’re doing in the same light as fighting a war against Israel, then they can get wrecked again. If their chosen tactics are what have been displayed, they don’t deserve anything but to be exterminated. If they want to improve their lives, then join the 21st century, stop letting Iran treat you as a sacrificial lamb and puppet, and adopt some of this love and peace I keep hearing all these people tell me Islam is all about.2 points

Maybe the right answers to move everybody from Gaza to the west bank. At least then your problem is centralized in one location. That needs to be some sort of definitive action that stands as a long-term consequence to this attack. Whether that means 100,000 people need to die, or the Palestinians need to be in a materially worse position now than they were before the attack, just going in and surgically killing "terrorists" is not going to do it.1 point

She wasn't in the her early days based at KAVQ (AZ). Her hangar was across from mine (late '80's-early '90's) and would practice twice a day in the box much of the time in crappy wx that kept me grounded. Humble and down to earth in the few encounters I had with her. Pretty dedicated as well....did the local DMAFB show in very windy conditions (the show must go on)....taxied straight back to the hangar after landing and threw up out of sight of the spectators.1 point

The whole thing sucks. No easy way for either side. Maybe they just need to fight it out. We fought it out against the British, Natives, Spaniards and French. We even fought each other. Let them fight. Get the civilians out and whoever wins can continue to "live" in God's country. No American soldiers this time. That's how every other country was formed on planet Earth. Why stop now?1 point

I am. I hope those f*ckers keep doing everything they are doing and more/worse. So that way the entire world will acknowledge the lack of reason for them existing; we need them to continue to show who they are and continue to demonstrate how little they care for life so the bleeding hearts don't start taking pity on/for them. Let's see evil for exactly it is and crush it once and for all. We are a nation and society that has become immune to realities of war and fascinated with it because too few have actually been there. Time for the atrocities to be seen so it can finally take the "cool" out of war for those that haven't seen it.1 point

Just want to point out that folks like you are why alternative viewpoints don’t engage, and why this place has gently flowed back into being the echo chamber it’s always been. Here’s a pretty comprehensive view of why people believe that Israel is still oppressing Palestine, although I know this will be dismissed for no logical reason: https://www.amnesty.org/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/MDE1551412022ENGLISH.pdf Want to be clear, I don’t support Hamas or anyone who does. measured responses do not work in war. especially in a region that only understands/respects total domination of the enemy. paradoxically a gloves off full total war response is more humane than years of "measured responses" (afghanistan/korea/vietnam)1 point

I am appalled by the report I just saw, as Israeli forces have liberated a village overrun by Hamas they discovered babies that were beheaded by Hamas terrorists. Kill them all.1 point
-
This whole situation is terrible obviously, but I personally am having a very difficult time finding a lot of sympathy for Gaza at this point. They elected Hamas a decade and a half ago to be their representative government. Their goals and methods have been consistent for way longer than that. Look at the Hamas charter if you're curious about what they're really pursuing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas_Charter) Something something reap what you sow.1 point

Israel needs to capitalize on the world's brief sympathy and wipe out Hamas once and for all. Bulldoze Gaza. It is clear that Hamas and Israel cannot co-exist peacefully.1 point

Regardless of where you stand, Roe v Wade was poorly written with little constitutional support. It should have been returned to the states long ago. Even LA Time admitted it was legally shaky. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2022-05-03/how-roe-vs-wade-went-wrong-broad-new-right-to-abortion-rested-on-a-shaky-legal-foundation The GOP neutered their own red wave. They spent millions on a R vs R senate race in Alaska to make sure RINO Murkowski was reelected and avoid another America First senator. That funding may have flipped AZ or MI senate seats, but the GOP would rather have uniparty dems than another anti-establishment conservative. Spending has to be controlled unless you are ready for hyper inflation. If we have to break the system to fix it, no time to start like the present. I am one of those dangerous MAGA republicans.1 point

Wrong. They're too mad. In the hierarchy of concerns, classified document mishandling, treating women grossly (but not illegally), cheating on your marriages, lying about nearly everything in your past, or all the other things that Donald Trump does to distinguish himself as a human with little or no character, those things are all subordinate to being called a piece of shit, or a liar, or a rube, or being gaslit, or having your most foundational family values attacked, to be called a racist, or a sexist, you get the idea. American conservatives are furious. And furious people do not see nuance or reason. Until the thing that is making them furious is resolved, they are not going to get caught up in little details like what a miserable human being Donald Trump is. And since the exact same activists, politicians, famous people, and other progressive entities who rebranded the American conservative as some sort of hate spewing, idiotic, predatory, and privileged group are the ones now going after Donald Trump, there is a 0% chance that they are going to see the light. And you know what, the many shortcomings of Donald Trump are in fact very, very, very subordinate to the societal warfare that is being waged by the most privileged and unaccomplished in our country. I honestly don't know that I can vote for Donald Trump again, but there is no aspect where his re-election is worse for the country than what American progressives have done and are continuing to do. My primary concern is that his election will not make the problem any better, because Donald Trump also blinds liberal voters to what The Democratic party has become.1 point

If your metric for whether or not things are good is “are they better than the 80s, 90s, or 2000s,” I’ve got bad news for you. America’s extremely rare 60-year global unipolar dominance and being able to benefit from the rest of the world blowing its infrastructure up during WWII is over. There are actually a lot of arguments that being an American in 2019 or 2007 represents the best average life circumstances humans will experience for a long time. Good evidence that being a boomer or a gen x in America = best life humans have ever had, and will maintain that status for the next few generations. See Principles of a Changing World Order by Ray Dalio. Quantitative easing by both parties, immense overspending by both parties, collosal defense and policy failures in the Middle East wars, a lack of focus on infrastructure or investment, and real great power competition equals worse times for the foreseeable future. There is no easy way out, and no political agenda that will just magically fix it.1 point

I think the number one threat to the Republican party right now, aside from the usual political machinations in Washington, is the inability of conservative voters to deal with the cognitive dissonance of appreciating the policy successes of Donald Trump contrasted with the fact that he is in fact a piece of shit as a human being.1 point

After the Cold War, our defense strategy maintained that the US should be able to fight and win two simultaneous wars in two different theaters of conflict. During Obama, it was changed that we would fight and win one war, and inflict unacceptable losses in another. Then, under Trump, it was fight and win one, and deter aggression in another theater. Our assets are more capable, but there are less of them, and an asset may only be in one place at one time. I estimate half the world's population is rooting for our failure. We're on the brink of an economic "difficulty" to put it mildly. So, we are not equipped to fight and win more than one war and we're dangerously close to financial ruin. We don't have the recruits, and we're sending enormous amounts of weapons, equipment, and ammo to proxy wars to the point we are affecting our own readiness. We have strategic threats in THREE theaters now. The Middle East, Eastern Europe, and the Pacific. What is #1? What is #2? What is #3? If we're feeling top of our game (and we're not), we can choose which one to win, one to fight, and one to disengage. We have multiple Congressional leaders now calling for Tehran to be attacked FFS. I contend that Russia was never a real threat. Why? Because they are small potatoes. China is #1. The world's energy supply (ME) is #2. Kirby is telling you we simply cannot do it all. He's preparing you for the idea difficult choices must be made. The enemy also knows we cannot do it all. Once we're balls deep in Israel, you can bet your ass there will be another fire to be put out. We're being baited into managing all the world's conflicts so that ultimately, we'll be unable to manage any of them.0 points

I think it’s dumb to apply viewpoints hyperbolically both directions. I think you’ll find that the views you’re so riled up about are not as well held as you think. Even Ocasio-Cortez condemned the Palestinian support protests - one of the most “leftist” people you irrationally despise. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna119687 I think that Rep. Tlaib and Bush are morons and wrong. They are capitalizing on human loss to get political points. Honestly, they’re sickening. Simultaneously, I think the Harvard students who released a letter are technically correct, albeit still wrong about when to talk about this - Israel has contributed to Israel-Palestine instability via effectively running an apartheid state. But it doesn’t excuse terrorist acts. I honestly see how f’d politics is from a Palestinian perspective, and I think you can too. US, EU, and Israel all deciding to admire the problem that Palestinians were effectively living in a penal colony for the last few decades contributed to this occurring. I also see how Palestine are morons and didn’t accept multiple potential compromises over the last 40 years.0 points
